Race lengths in the Olympics

Today I am using examples of different races in Athletics and how they relate to different types of speeches. Each race has a different physical and mental demand on a runner and in the same way we need to approach speeches of different lengths in a similar way. The Olympic Games - what we can learn as speakers

I am so excited because the Olympic Games are starting - yippee! We are all able to learn a huge amount from how the sportspeople prepare for such an event. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for them to make a mark - or as a standard BBC commentator would say "Make History". Of course it isn't just sportspeople who prepare in this way: speakers, musicians, singers, dancers and actors also prepare for a performance, but let's see what we can learn! Enjoy!
