The Two Minute Drill: A Tough Loss Makes Bears Tougher [Listen]

11/2/2015
More
Tough loss for the Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday, as the Vikings kicked a field goal with time expiring to hand the Bears another home loss. It was a game of highs & lows, as Two Minute Drill guest Marc Mariani muffed a couple punts but made a nice catch to convert a first-down, Cutler played well not turning the ball over, and Forte went out with a knee injury. Next up, the Bears head out west to face San Diego on Monday Night Football.

Will We Be Forced to Eat Meat 15 Feet from Building Entrances? [Listen]

10/26/2015
More
It is a dark day in the city of encased meats. The World Health Organization has determined that eating processed meats increases your risk of colo-rectal cancer ... which is bad news indeed.

Len & Lin: An Appreciation of the Present While Anticipating the Future [Listen]

10/22/2015
More
What a great year, even if the end result wasn't what we were all hoping for. The 2015 Chicago Cubs exceeded even the most wild expectations by winning 97 games and eliminating the two teams ahead of them with the best records in baseball, including the hated St. Louis Cardinals. There were so many special moments this season: Schwarber knocking more home runs out in the postseason than any other 22 year old in Major League Baseball history; Jake Arrieta pitching a better second half than...

The Regular Guy's Game 4 Prayer

10/21/2015

Lin's Bin: Miracles

10/19/2015
More
The Cubs & the World Series. Two items not frequently paired together. Is it a miracle if it happens? Lin looks at what constitutes a miracle in the modern day.

The Two Minute Drill: Lions Win First Game of Year Against Bears [Listen]

10/19/2015
More
The Bears had the Lions dead to rights in Detroit, but after allowing them to hang around (with a little help from some friendly neighborhood refs), the Lions got their first win of the season again. Two Minute Drill star Marc Mariani almost broke one for a touchdown as special teams played well. The Bears'll take this week off as will Marc, but they'll return again Monday, November 2nd for another edition of the Two Minute Drill.

Len & Lin: Cubs to Meet the Mets [Listen]

10/16/2015
More
Ok, it's all set up: the Cubs will travel to New York today to face the Mets in the NLCS this weeknd. Their pitching staff is very good, finishing fourth in MLB in ERA, just behind the Cubs. The Cubs also beat the Mets all seven times they faced them this season, but that was when the Mets were without David Wright and Michael Cuddyer and they had yet to acquire Yoenis Cespedes. It's going to be a great series. Will Lin Brehmer, the man who's everywhere be there? Of course he will, along...

Len & Lin: Cardinals Eliminated by Cubs; What A Sweet Sentence to Type [Listen]

10/14/2015
More
There's a school of thought that says that as broadcasters, it's incumbent upon us to remain dispassionate and impartial. And that's a standard that most certainly has its place. That place is not here. And not now. These 2015 Chicago Cubs are a special team. We've all been there since Opening Day and decades of frustration and lament. And as many years of Cardinal dominance and their attending fanbase's smug entitlement. No longer. After winning the opening salvo of the NLDS, the Cardinals...

Len & Lin: Cubs Send Arrieta to Fold Cards [Listen]

10/12/2015
More
So the Cubs have stolen home field advantage from the Cardinals and now have Jake Arrieta on the hill for pivotal game three this afternoon. And the big-swingin' hard-hittin' Cubs did it with small ball, bunting in several runs and rattling St. Louis' starter in the process. In a nice demonstration of The Cardinal Way, starting pitcher Jaime Garcia tossed a bunted ball into right field and Kolten Wong couldn't find the handle on a couple potential double plays. A few bloops and a big BANG...

The Two Minute Drill: Cutler Channels Arrieta for the Win [Listen]

10/12/2015
More
Look who's got a winning streak going on. The Bears upended the Kansas City Chiefs yesterday and Two Minute Drill star Marc Mariani continues to find himself contributing more and more to the offense. Unlike some other kick returners, he wants to be on the field as much as possible and doesn't find memorizing the offense to be a big distraction from his kick returning duties. Next up for the Bears are the winless Detroit Lions.

Len & Lin: Cubs / Cards NLDS Preview [Listen]

10/9/2015
More
The Pittsburgh faithful really gave it to the Cubs on Wednesday, so the Cubs should be good to go against "the best fans in baseball". It'll be Jon Lester versus John Lackey in today's game one of the National League Division Series. These two were teammates on the World Series champion Red Sox last decade. The Cardinals were the best team in baseball this year with 100 wins. They were also the first team to finish with a sub-3 ERA since the late 1980s. This is going to be one tough series...

Len & Lin: Special Post-Pittsburgh Pirates Play-In Playoff Pummeling Edition [Listen]

10/8/2015
More
Dexter Fowler led off with a single. Then stole second. Then Kyle "The Great Schwarbino" Schwarber drove him in. With Jake Arrieta pitching, game over. Except Schwarber decided to rub it in a little by sending some poor baseball to a watery grave in the Allegheny River. Two times up, three runs in for The Schwarber of Swing. More than enough for Arrieta. Fowler would later cap off the scoring by popping a solo shot into the stands at PNC Park. Next up, the hated St. Louis Cardinals. The top...

With Cubs Playoff Berth Comes End of the World [Listen]

10/7/2015
More
Well, it was fun while it lasted. Thanks the Chicago Cubs, who own the third-best record in Major League Baseball, the world will now come to an end. What remains to be seen though, is exactly what time the rapture will occur. Another prognosticator, this one working off the previous thinking done by inaccurate and outright incorrect prognosticator, the late Harold Camping, is boldly predicting the end of the world.

Len & Lennartz: A Post-Season Play-In Preview [Listen]

10/5/2015
More
We're not sure what the line for Wednesday's Cubs / Pirates game is, but it's gotta be somewhere around 1.5, with Jake Arrieta going up against Gerrit Cole in Pittsburgh. The only way one of these teams winds up scoring more than one run, if any, could be on an error. It's an unprecedented thing that the top three records in MLB all come from the NL Central, the first time that's happened since the introduction of divisional play following the 1969 season. And the winner between the Cubs (97...

The Two Minute Drill: Robbie GOOOOOUUUUUULLLD! [Listen]

10/5/2015
More
The first Bears victory of the John Fox era is out of the way, as the Bears defeated the Oakland Raiders on the reliable leg of Robbie Gould. Jay Cutler came back from injury to help lead the team to a crazy finish. Marc Mariani gave us a sense of the scene in the locker room following the exciting ending to the game and let us all know where this team stands, and that it stands behind their quarterback and coach.

Len & Lin: Final Series of Regular Season, More to Come for Cubs [Listen]

10/2/2015
More
Jake Arrieta is throwing tonight in Milwaukee to begin the Cubs' final regular season series in his last tune up before starting the play-in game against Pittsburgh. Len believes Jake could lock up the Cy Young tonight. Lin hopes he just goes ahead and tosses one right over the plate in the first inning just to get that first hit out of the way so Joe Maddon isn't tempted to keep him in beyond six innings. Lots of good memories from this remarkably fun baseball season. These Cubs are...

Len & Lin: A Perfect Preview of Things to Come [Listen]

9/28/2015
More
At this point in the baseball season, the playoff matchups are almost solidified. The Cubs'll be sending Jake Arrieta out to do what he does. It's very likely they'll face the Pirates; it just remains to be seen if game 163 will be in Pittsburgh or in Chicago. There is a chance the Pirates could catch St. Louis, and if they wind up tying; it's probable the Cubs'll dodge Gerrit Cole. But there's no dodging Jake Arrieta, who pitched lights out again last night, throwing six innings of perfect...

The Two Minute Drill: Meaningful Fall Baseball Taking Focus Off Tough Bears Start [Listen]

9/28/2015
More
Jake Arrieta pitched six perfect innings last night as the Cubs...oh wait! This is a Bears segment, right? Well, the Bears opened the Chicago sports day on a sour note, as the Seahawks ran roughshod over them in the Pacific Northwest. On the plus side, the Chicago defense tallied their first sacks of the season and forced Marshawn Lynch out of the game. They'll face another west coast team at Soldier Field this Sunday, the Oakland Raiders.

Len & Lin: We're Clenching, Cubs Could Be Clinching [Listen]

9/25/2015
More
You've been hearing a lot lately about magic numbers. No, not the band The Magic Numbers, the Chicago Cubs' magic number. It's the number of games that the Cubs have to win or their next closest opponent in the standings (in this case, the defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants) have to lose to guarantee a Cubs playoff berth. Conversely, for the Giants, they're referring to the number one this morning as their 'Tragic Number', whereby they'll officially be eliminated from...

Lin Brehmer Remembers A Yogi Berra He Could Never Forget [Listen]

9/23/2015
More
Yankees and baseball legend Yogi Berra has taken the proverbial fork in the road at the age of ninety. He's known to younger generations for his malaproprisms and to baseball fans everywhere for his stunning accomplishments, including playing in 14 World Series (an MLB-record 75 World Series games played), winning 10 championships, catching the only perfect game in World Series history and being voted American League MVP 3 times over Yankee teammates Phil Rizzuto, Mickey Mantle and Whitey...
