As we approach the new year, many of us start thinking about resolutions—those promises we make to ourselves to grow, improve, or do better. But let’s be honest: sticking to resolutions can be hard, right? We want to introduce a fresh approach to setting goals for the new year. It’s inspired by the three R’s we often hear about in environmental sustainability: Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle. But what if we applied these principles to our personal lives? What if we used them as a framework for creating meaningful, impactful resolutions that truly resonate with who we are and what we value? Beyond Elections: Why We Need SALT Communities Now More Than Ever

11/7/2024
As we move beyond this election, I’m struck by the human tendency to seek a "savior" in our political leaders. This desire often springs from deep psychological, social, and cultural needs—a willingness to hope for redemption in difficult times, a search for meaning amid life’s big questions, and a yearning for community and belonging through shared beliefs. We project personal aspirations onto idealized figures, reinforced by cultural narratives that shape our understanding of salvation. Yet, as a SALT community, we recognize that true transformation arises from serving, affirming, and loving ourselves and others. We believe that by committing to uplift and support one another, we can find strength together in a chaotic world.
