"Faces of Tomorrow"

5/7/2025
You may have heard of cleft lip and palate. It's a condition when a baby is born with a split lip.... And palate - which is the roof of your mouth. In the u-s about one in one thousand babies are born with it. And in the u-s those babies very often get the surgeries and treatment they need. But in developing countries... About twice as many babies are born with cleft lip and palate. And far too often... Those babies go untreated... Because of inadequate health care.... Lack of expertise... And money. Many years ago a local group of doctors and nurses set out to change that. The name of their group is "faces of tomorrow." They travel the world treating children who have a cleft lip and palate. Now they're holding "the chocolate chase".... At Crocker Park in Sacramento on Sunday may 18th. It will include a 5k run... A one-mile walk... And a kids dash.... In honor of all the kids locally who have had cleft lip and palate surgery. The run-walk will be through old Sacramento and along the river. They will also be raising money to pay for the nurses and doctors with faces of tomorrow to travel around the world to perform the surgeries. Those nurses and doctors donate all of their time and are not paid. You can find out more by going to: chocolatechase5k.com.... Or go to kfbk.com
