2/22/2025
Dr. Olivia Cacchione, a musicologist, sat with Patrick in the parlor to discuss her current work and study of music and sound in Victorian seances. Olivia also shared about years of uncomfortable out-of-body experiences and hearing voices that led to her being diagnosed with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy. Plus skepticism, haunted listening, enchantment, possibility vs. disbelief, Victorians and the accordion, the channeled music of Rosemary Brown, and asking the question, “How does music haunt us?” Visit BigSeance.com/257 for more info. Other Listening Options Direct Download Link In this episode: Intro :00 Dr. Olivia Cacchione studies the sounds of ghosts and hauntings throughout history. She’s a musicologist who earned her PhD at Northwestern University and received a Mellon Fellowship to conduct her extensive archival research across England and America. She is currently working on a book that highlights the role of music and sound in Victorian seances. Olivia’s dissertation examined the cultural history of hearing, questioning how music haunts us, with an emphasis on the lived experience of the Victorian-era spiritualist séance. She covered Daniel Dunglas Home's accordion, the Davenport Brothers' musical cabinet, and lesser known mediums like Jennie Lord, who practically invented the musical seance. And Olivia wants you to know that she has a cat who is proudly named Madame Blavatsky. You can learn more about Olivia Cacchione and her work by visiting welcometotheseance.com. :45 What is a musicologist? 2:02 From harp performance to a PhD in musicology. 3:44 Patrick once again nerds out about the theremin. 6:12 More on where this interest in Victorian Spiritualism came from, and the pushback from her colleagues regarding her chosen area of study. 7:32 Hearing Voices. “When I was 15, I began ‘hearing things.’ It took me ten years to receive a diagnosis of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy.” 10:51 Olivia’s voices and out-of-body experiences. Jeni, who has quite a bit of experience sitting in development circles and seances, witnessed a fairly well-known physical medium faking seances, and she decided to call out his fraudulent behavior. If you’re wondering if this is the medium who in 2016 was caught faking evidence at the Banyan Retreat Center in the UK, that’s the one. :45 Our guest today is Jeni Juranics, who is a psychic medium who resides in Odessa near Kingston, Ontario, Canada with her husband and two children. She’s been offering readings since 2016 and maintains a vibrant and genuine link to the Spirit World. Her personality and reading style have been described as down-to-earth and comforting and she brings a sense of calm to all of her sessions. 3:17 Jeni's episodes regarding this fraudulent medium have struck a chord in the community. 4:27 “I’ve just been working hard to protect people from being a victim to what I experienced. And you know, I have to say, I was more a student, but I know a lot of the people that are going to these seances are grieving mothers and fathers and children that have lost their parents. And so it’s not just entertainment. It’s not just a cool experience. People are seriously looking for their loved ones, and they’re being deceived.” 11:03 Jeni saw the red flags with this medium for months in several seances and workshops before it finally clicked. 12:29 Normalize being okay with questioning and using your brain. 16:15 How has this experience changed the way Jeni works moving forward within her own mediumship? 19:38 When you’re already a bit skeptical. 23:30 "If you're being told what you're going to see, is that what you're going to see?" 26:16 “Is it time to say that from now on, physical mediumship needs to happen with the lights on, no exceptions?” 29:48 The 2016 video. 32:11 When it sounds like someone describing a cult. 33:04 Positive responses to the message is getting out there. 39:55 Let’s do physical mediumship differently now. 43:14 Red Flag: When a physical medium's seances are the same every time. 48:54 Clear intimidation from a medium in a mask. 54:36 Patrick’s thoughts on individuals enabling this medium, and he commends Jeni for her bravery in speaking out on her own platform, as well as this one. 59:40 Jeni’s final thoughts. 1:03:51 Outro 1:06:18 A special THANK YOU to Patreon supporters at the Super Paranerd and Parlor Guest level! 1:07:35 For more on Jeni Juranics jenijuranics.com Facebook Instagram YouTube The Big Seance Podcast can be found right here, on Apple Podcasts, Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn Radio, Amazon Music, Audible, iHeart Radio, and...

She is descended from a long line of women with psychic and spiritual gifts. Raised by her grandmother, she communicated with spirits, animals, and angels. She is called a demon seer because she can see, hear, communicate, and has the ability to remove and destroy negative entities. Since then, she has written several more books, including the forthcoming Dark Encounters. She is the founder of Ghosts and Girls Paranormal. June has appeared on Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures, Coast-to-Coast AM, Midnight in the Desert, and The Unexplained with Howard Hughes, to name a few. You can learn more about June by visiting demonseer.com. :49 What is a demon seer? 3:35 Patrick admits his skepticism. “Most people don’t go out of their way to read about or discuss or even think about negative entities until either they meet someone who has an issue, or they have one themselves. Then it’s a whole different situation. I run into that quite a lot.” 5:07 After an accident, June had a near death experience where Michael the Archangel explained to her that her soul belongs to Auriel the Archangel, the demon slayer. 7:03 Detailed descriptions of demons, archangels, and the battles between them. 11:12 “Look for the eyes.” 13:49 On the topic of ghosts, June says she laughs when she watches the show the Ghost Whisperer, because that character conveniently sees one ghost at a time. “I basically draw a crowd.” 17:55 June also does her work through photographs. 19:22 Weekly meetings with the Legion of Light. 20:25 More on Auriel the Archangel, plus one of the only other archangels living in physical form now. 21:32 June has never run into a situation or a problem that was too big for her to handle. 24:57 June’s experiences with Zak Bagans and the crew of Ghost Adventures. 26:05 Patrick retells the story of investigating with Amy Bruni and Adam Berry and having the footage from 3 different video tapes mysteriously erase themselves. 29:27 More on June’s experiences with the Ghost Adventures crew and a conversation she had with Zak regarding an investigation and his provoking a particular entity. “This demon has a message for you and you'd better listen, because this is an old demon, and they don’t do messages. You’re lucky. Usually they just strike and you’re screwed. So you'd better listen to what he has to say.” 30:32 A Ghost Adventures producer to June: “Don’t take the demon out until after we’ve done our investigation.” 33:05 In 2018, June says she cleaned out Zak Bagans’ famous museum of demons. 33:48 Being a demon seer and a nurse at the same time. 35:34 June’s perspective of what life is like on the Other Side. 36:35 Hell 38:45 Final thoughts from June and more on her forthcoming book, Dark Encounters. 40:31 Ghosts and Girls Paranormal, June’s paranormal team. 43:38 Outro 45:15 A special THANK YOU to Patreon supporters at the Super Paranerd and Parlor Guest level! 46:35 For more on June Lundgren DemonSeer.com JuneLundgrenAuthor.com GhostsAndGirlsParanormal.com June on...
