Morning Prayer: 5th day of the month

7/4/2024
Grab your coffee, put on your headphones, and press “play”. Pause as necessary if you need more time for reflection. If the one minute of silence in the middle is too much for you, add an extra minute; it will be worthwhile. Morning Prayer: Lord, open my lips. My mouth will declare your praise (Psalm 51:15) Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Psalm 21 Psalm 22 Intercessions: Silence: Canticle of Zechariah: Luke 1:68–79 “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people; and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David (as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets who have been from of old), salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us; to show mercy toward our fathers, to remember his holy covenant, the oath which he swore to Abraham our father, to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life. And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the remission of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the dawn from on high will visit us, to shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death; to guide our feet into the way of peace.” The Lord’s prayer May the Lord bless us, protect us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. All Psalms and Canticles as well as most Scripture passages are from the World English Bible in the Public Domain. I want you to press pause! Midday Prayer: 5th day of the month

7/4/2024
Take a breather in the middle of your day. Spend time with God and put the troubles of your day in perspective. Midday Prayer: God, come to my assistance. — Lord, make haste to help me. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: — as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia. Matthew 6: 27-34 “Which of you by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan? Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin, yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won’t he much more clothe you, you of little faith? “Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient. Psalm 23 Silence The Lord’s Prayer Lord, Grant me strength and grace for the remainder of this day. Be merciful to me, Lord, that I may bring Your mercy to all those whom I encounter today. Grant me patience and peace, that I may listen to the promptings of Your Spirit, and move in humble obedience to Your will. Grant this through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
