There are about seven ethnic groups of people in Belize, the Creole or Kriol, Garifuna, Spanish, the Mestizos, Kechi, the Mayan Indians and the Mennonites. It is the only country in Central America where English is the official language, but Kriol, Spanish and Garifuna are more commonly spoken.
