Metro FM was established by Kathmandu Metropolitan City. It received operating license on March 9, 1998 from the government. After receiving the license, the station began its test transmission on September 17, 1998. Then on September 18, 1999, the station began its official transmission. Metro Traffic F.M. is the pioneering radio station in Nepal in the security realm operated by Nepal Police. It is the very first radio station established for traffic facilitation and it is guided by a complete service orientation towards the wider audience. Objectives: - To assist in day-to-day traffic management - To promote traffic awareness among larger audience - To assist in reducing traffic accidents - To promote awareness against crimes - To disseminate safety tips against crimes The radio has a 1000 watt transmission capacity and the coverage area of the radio is Kathmandu valley and the surrounding areas in Bagmati Province. The radio is licensed to operate 24 hours a day. The station is based in Ramshah Path, Kathmandu.
