This week, we revisit the 2020 “Earth Day” Special, a collection from the archives that’s so nice, we’re running it thrice. So join us for lots of music and conversations between eTown Host Nick Forster and inspiring activists like Jane Goodall and even the founder of Earth Day, the late Senator Gaylord Nelson – all from the eTown archives. Where else are you going to hear Mavis Staples, a Woody Guthrie song sung in Arabic, Jack Johnson, and Jane Goodall all on the same show? That’s this week – in eTown.

It's early Spring in Boulder, Colorado where we welcome The Lil Smokies from Montana and Emily Scott Robinson from Telluride to eTown Hall. The Lil Smokies have graduated from 'up and coming' to 'fully arrived' - they showcase their hyper-melodic brand of song-strong Bluegrass music. Emily Scott Robinson shares the stage with her sultry voice and plays a 'spooky' tune with Nick, Helen and The eTones. Canadian Dallas Green is City and Colour. His buddy, Matt Kelly joins him onstage at eTown Hall to perform some amazingly soulful tunes. New Yorkers Kristin Slipp and Cole Kamen-Green are mmeadows. This husband and wife duo display their unique brand of electronica featuring Kristin's dynamic and soaring vocals. Jon Goldstein is a Senior Director at the Environmental Defense Fund. This week’s “back by popular demand” program features Canadian singer-songwriter Patrick Watson, who grew up in Montreal; people often compare his art-music sensibilities with those of Rufus Wainwright or Gregory Alan Isakov. Aoife and Jeremy are also joined by members of The Free Range String Quartet. Also with us for their first visit is Latin and American roots band Che Apalache, featuring three powerhouse Latin American musicians – two from Argentina, Franco Martino (guitar), Martin Bobrik (mandolin), and Pau Barjau (banjo) from Mexico, as well as worldly frontman Joe Troop. Nick also sits down for a conversation with Bea Johnson, author of Zero Waste Home. Bea initiated the zero-waste movement and shares her tips for living a more sustainable lifestyle. We also welcome eTown friend and bluesman John Long, who became immersed in the blues scene at an early age, traveling and living with blues legend Homesick James starting in 1970. Also, we’ll hear from this week’s eChievement Award winner, Laura Stachel, who co-founded nonprofit, We Care Solar, that is saving the lives of countless women around the world. This week on eTown, we’re featuring indie-folk-rock band Big Thief and legendary Americana singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams, live from Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO. While the theatre of Red Rocks is dramatic in and of itself, this year’s show was electric–-storms brewed overhead before, during, and after.
