Listen to African Connection on your phone!
The word XALAAT means thought, opinions, point of view, etc. and comes from Wolof, a Senegalese language. The program was created to address unmet needs among members of the African and Caribbean immigrant and refugee communities in the greater Philadelphia area, who experience difficulties accessing healthcare and social services due to cultural, geographic, linguistic, and other barriers. WURD 900 AM allows people of the African and Caribbean Diaspora to find a “home” somewhere on the radio dial. African Connection currently airs in English, French and Wolof (Senegalese language).
