Daredevil Born Again 206 "Requiem" Details Executive Producers are Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Jonathan Schwartz, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Dario Scardapane Directed by Angela Barnes Written by Devon Kliger & Jesse Wigutow Episode Synopsis: Wilson Fisk mourns the loss of his beloved wife Vanessa. When her surgeon tries to empathise and comfort the mayor, he uses his immense strength to kill the man who didn’t save her. Furious that the vigilantes are still on the loose, Fisk lets his Anti-Vigilante Task Force move Mr. Charles's weapons to their own warehouse for their use on the streets of New York. An angry Mr. Charles offers his services to Governor McCaffrey to help Mayor Fisk from office. Mr. Charles also sends men to attack Jessica Jones, a super-powered investigator who turned down an offer to work for him. Jessica easily overpowers them, protecting her daughter Danielle, and goes to the AVTF warehouse with Daredevil to destroy their stolen weapons. At the funeral for Vanessa, Buck Cashman tells Daniel Blake to feed BB Urich false information to test her loyalty and encourages Heather Glenn to imitate Muse's actions to free herself from the trauma his attack has had on her. Meanwhile, back at their hideout Karen Page nearly murders Bullseye but is stopped by Matt Murdock. They argue, with Karen believing they have not only the right but the obligation to murder both Fisk and Bullseye because of what they have done. BB decides not to leak the information and almost kisses Daniel, but he confronts her about the previous leaks and reveals that he knows she’s connected to the City Without Fear broadcasts. Back in New York Karen Page joins a protest outside City Hall and shares the testimonies from the Red Hook prisoners onto the building urging them to Resist and Revolt. Matt Murdock visits Wilson Fisk at his own hideout and suggests they both leave New York to have peace, but Fisk refuses and they fight. Murdock wins but a broken Fisk asks what he will do, he can't arrest him and he WILL not kill him. During the protest, lead officer Powell kills young AVTF agent Saunders, who he had suspected of feeding information to Daredevil, and blames vigilantes. As gunfire rises causing chaos around City Hall, Karen Page loses her wig and is caught by the trigger happy officer Powell. However, McCoy narrowly avoids a young Buck Cashman, who had been hired to kill him by Fisk's fixer at the time, James Wesley. Wesley also arranges for an art gallery to serve as one of Fisk's fronts, leading him to meet Vanessa.In the present, Daredevil helps the wounded Dex escape from the AVTF. Despite the latter's pleas to let him die, Daredevil is inspired by the memory of Foggy's selflessness and takes Bulleye to recover at the Punisher’s hideout where Karen Page is less than impressed.After Daniel Blake leaks Vanessa's status to BB Urich, Cashman tests his loyalty by forcing him to drive them to Albany to bury Christofi's body.Vanessa wakes up after successful surgery but seems to have suffered brain damage. Shortly after, her vitals fade and she flat lines as doctors attempt to revive her, while a devastated Fisk watches on. It is a massive week at TV Podcast Industries. Here John and Derek chat all about Daredevil Season 2 Episode 4 'Gloves Off'. Daredevil 204 "Gloves Off" Details Executive Producers are Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Jonathan Schwartz, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Dario Scardapane Directed by Solvan "Slick" Naim Written by Chantelle M. Wells Episode Synopsis: Benjamin Poindexter starts out his day with a trip to the Bel-Air diner and samples their banana milkshake with whipped cream. While waiting he draws out Wilson Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force by pretending Frank Castle is attacking the patrons of the diner. When they arrive Poindexter wastes no time in executing all of them with everything at his disposal from cutlery to toothpicks. Having sent his message to Mayor Fisk he returns to his apartment. Meanwhile, in another hidden location, Karen Page films the testimony of the 19 escaped prisoners who now form part of the resistance. Jacques Duquanes takes his leave to return uptown leaving access to his considerable bank account to fund the rebels. As he leaves Christofi, the Cypriot first mate of Fisk’s sunken ship, arrives and shares everything he knows about the illegal weapons transport. Including the fact it was all signed off by Vasillas tou Enklimatos, a Greek name meaning Crime Lord. While being taken into protective custody by the US Marshalls, Buck Cashman arrives shooting and killing Christofi and his protection. After learning of Bullseye’s attack at the Bel-Air diner, Matt suits up as a member of the AVTF and investigates the scene. He tracks a coin on the scene to his old church, Our Lady of Grace and after speaking to the seminary priest he locates Benjamin Poindexter’s apartment. They fight there but Dex escapes with a well placed can fired at a biker’s head. In Fogwell’s Gym in Hell’s Kitchen, Mayor Wilson Fisk is readying himself for his three round boxing match against Mike ‘The Matterhorn’ Melendez. Hoping the fight will draw out Bullseye and Daredevil, Fisk sends Vanessa away to meet the Governor in Albany to keep her safe. But as soon as her business is complete she returns to her husband’s side. As Bullseye throws a glass statue at Fisk to kill him it is smashed and a shard embeds itself in Vanessa. But she got a shot off on Poindexter. Before Fisk can react, Daredevil has knocked Bullseye out through the window of Fogwell’s Gym to escape. It’s a sham trial, and unable to find a way around the mayor’s new acts, Duquesne is found guilty on all charges. Karen shares full details of the Red Hook charter with the Governor of New York state hoping she will revoke it and after a brief interrogation of the captured AVTF agent, Matt trusts that he’s telling them the truth. The agent provides him access to the port at Red Hook and using Kristen McDuffie’s directions Daredevil finds his way inside the hidden facility. But instead of getting Fisk’s illegal weapons, Matt chooses to free the prisoners fighting side by side with Jacques Duquesne to get everyone out. Beyond the walls Angela Del Toro, inspired by her uncle White Tiger, arrives to help the resistance. Angered by the attack on his facility Fisk goes ahead with his plan, setting off an explosion that kills all the workers who removed the weapons from The Northern Star. Two episodes this week and this time Derek and John are chatting about Daredevil Born Again Season 2 Episode 2 'Shoot the Moon'. Daredevil 202 "Shoot The Moon" Details Executive Producers are Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Jonathan Schwartz, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Dario Scardapane Directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead Written by Dario Scardapane Episode Synopsis: Cherry is taken to hospital following the attack by Wilson Fisk’s Anti Vigilante Task Force. Daredevil watches on wondering why Bullseye intervened and what his message could have meant. Meanwhile Benjamin Poindexter visits Matt’s old church looking for Matt’s mother, Sister Maggie. But unable to find her he looks for absolution. Fisk continues to train for his upcoming boxing match but when Buck Cashman relays the news of the dead AVTF agents and Poindexter’s help, Fisk violently takes his frustration out on his trainer. As tensions on the street escalate a simple misunderstanding leads to Angela Del Toro’s aunt Soledad’s arrest. Angela goes to Kristen McDuffie to find help but instead finds her uncle Hector’s White Tiger costume. Matt and Karen want to prove that Fisk was smuggling guns and need to find the First Mate from the ship that was sunk in the East River. But before they can reach their contact Fisk comes up with a plan to locate his enemy. He sends the city out looking for Matt Murdock, the hero who saved him. As they see Fisk’s minions remove the weapons from the wreckage Matt resolves to go to Red Hook himself before their chance is lost. With a warning from Fisk, Daniel is Concerned that BB might be using him to get access to secure files, he confronts her and warns her to stop or she won’t be safe. But BB doubles down and puts out another underground video of Mayor Fisk. When two more of the AVTF are killed by Poindexter, more agents are sent to the hospital to try to finish the job on Cherry, but he outsmarts them and goes into hiding. They finally catch up with Matt and Karen at Josie’s. While Daredevil fights his way out and regroups with Karen at Frank Castle’s old hideout, she takes matters into her own hands, kidnapping one of the Task Force. Finally your Defenders are back as John and Derek return to discuss Daredevil Born Again 201 The Northern Star. We're going into full spoiler filled detail on the return of Daredevil, so make sure you've watched the episode before listening to our podcast. Daredevil 201 "The Northern Star" Details Executive Producers are Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Jonathan Schwartz, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Dario Scardapane Directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead Written by Dario Scardapane Episode Synopsis: To send a message to Mayor Wilson Fisk, Matt Murdock suits up as Daredevil and boards a ship on its way to the Red Hook Port. He discovers it is transporting military grade weapons to the free port. When the Captain discovers Daredevil aboard the ship he sinks the vessel. Back in Josie’s Bar, Matt reunites with Karen to attempt to amplify the nefarious dealings of Mayor Fisk. But before they can carry through with their plan, Fisk’s team have pinned it as a terrorist attack orchestrated by the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. Meanwhile psychologist Heather Glenn, interviews Jack Duquanes about his possible double life as the vigilante Swordsman. Her discussion provides good detail about Duquanes but not the key evidence DA Hockburg is looking for so with a little prodding Heather changes his answers to serve him up on a platter. Concerned about the excessive powers Fisk is employing, the attorney general calls for oversight but, following a call from Contessa Allegra DeFontaine after a request from the mysterious Mr. Charles, the Attorney General offers his full support to Mayor Fisk. Karen continues to investigate Fisk’s nefarious goings-on and has recently teamed up with BB Urich. She shares advice from her former mentor Ben Urich to try to keep his niece alive while she’s in the vipers den. As their investigation gets closer to locating the missing crew from the ship, it draws the attention of the brutal Anti-Vigilante Task Force who confront Matt’s investigator Cherry at his home. Daredevil is overwhelmed by the violent task force members as he gets distracted by Cherry’s stress induced heart problems. But, after the team learn his true identity they are executed by an unlikely ally. Benjamin Poindexter hits the Bullseye delivering a message to Matt Murdock. ‘You're Welcome’. The finale has rolled around as Derek, John and Chris talk through Wonder Man Episode 8 'Yucca Valley'. A great capper on a fantastic season, with a movie premiere and a true show of friendship. But Trevor Slattery calls him to apologise and says he has a solution: He revives his Mandarin persona and publicly claims responsibility for the explosion. No one ever saw that coming. Agent Cleary knows that Trevor is just taking the blame for Simon, but goes along with it because the DODC needs more prisoners to justify their expensive Yucca Valley, California prison. Following Trevor's arrest, Director Von Kovak insists they continue filming and tells Simon to use Trevor's betrayal for the scene where Wonder Man is betrayed by Barnaby. Wonder Man is finished with Joe Pantoliano taking over the role of Barnaby and the film is a huge success. At the premiere, his clearly delighted brother Eric tells Simon he’s proud of him. Meanwhile, Janelle tells Simon that he now has his pick of roles for his next project. With his new found fame Simon decides to shadow a DODC guard, Chuck Eastman, who hates his job, under the guise of making a new film. This gives Simon access to the DODC prison under an alias, just as Agent Cleary discovers that Simon's powers use ionic energy and proposes to his boss that Simon could be an asset or a threat. Simon manages to slip his work shadowing Chuck and finds Trevor's cell where he uses his powers to break Trevor out of prison and fly away with him. At a dinner meeting with his team his agent Janelle informs the pair that The New York Times journalist Kathy Friedman is writing a profile on them, terrifying Simon who describes her as a character assassin of the highest order, who could discover and reveal his secret, just like she did with Joseph Gordon Levitt. He becomes paranoid after learning that Friedman talked to his ex-girlfriend Vivian, his mom, and brother Eric about him for her story. Vivian reveals to Simon that she knows he has powers, but she did not say anything about them to Friedman. Still concerned as they sit down for their joint interview with Kathy Friedman the next day, Simon is surprised to learn that Eric only had good things to say and he’s really proud of him. It wasn’t Simon who should have been concerned Kathy Friedman grills Trevor about what happened after his arrest when he returned to US soil and asks him what government deal he cut to avoid returning to prison, prompting him to walk out of the interview. Confronted by Simon, Trevor confesses the truth of his deal with the Department Of Damage Control to spy on Simon but promises that he will find a way to get out of it. Upset and overwhelmed, Simon goes to a Wonder Man soundstage and unleashes a large explosion that destroys the set. In the standalone episode of Wonder Man Episode 4 "Doorman" we discuss the cautionary tale of how the Doorman clause came to Hollywood productions and how it can chew up and spit out even those that don't want fame. Unaware of the history, Simon explains to Trevor who caused the change to Hollywood’s inclusion of powered individuals. A few years ago, DeMarr Davis was a doorman for the Wilcox club in LA. Brushing shoulders with wealthy customers, musicians and actors he loved his job. But when he encountered some otherworldly goop from the Roxxon Corporation he developed special abilities. He now has the ability to teleport people and objects through solid matter. When a fire starts in the club, threatening the lives of everyone inside, DeMarr uses his new Doorman powers to get everyone out to safety. Eternally grateful for saving his life, Hollywood actor Josh Gad gives DeMarr a job as his assistant. DeMarr soon gets a role on Josh’s movie “Cash Grab” using his powers in a pivotal scene. The stunt works and DeMarr Davis becomes The Doorman, the superpowered actor with his own catch phrase. But it’s not Ding Dong for long as the public quickly get tired of DeMarr’s schtick. On the downward spiral, a glimmer of hope comes in the form of Josh offering him a role in “Cash Grab 2”. But when they try to create a new super powered sequence for the sequel it all goes horribly wrong. As one cash bag after another is safely transferred through Demarr it's time for Josh Gad’s character to also make his escape. But J-Gad goes in and J-Gad doesn't come out, disappearing, never to return. Hollywood was shocked and created a clause on all productions that would stop people with powers acting in any production ever again. Their mission is to protect the US from super powered threats but their purpose built prison remains half empty and pressure is coming down from Congress to reduce the DODC’s budget. Agent Cleary has information on two incidents that might include Simon Williams. An explosion at his home as a child and a porta-potty explosion on the set of The Rookie while Simon was there. In order to connect these, Agent Cleary threatens Trevor Slattery to interrogate Simon’s family and friends at his mum’s birthday party. At the event Trevor learns a new kitchen has been installed with an island. The very thing Simon's mum has always wanted. But Trevor learns very little about Simon except that he’s always been alone and he’s always been lonely. His family, friends and neighbours don’t understand his acting career and believe he’s lazy and overly dependent on his family. After everyone leaves the party, Simon’s brother Eric pushes Simon to admit he got fired from American Horror Story and give up on his acting dreams. The stress sends Simon over the edge and his powers explode out of him destroying his mother’s newly treasured kitchen island.Later Simon apologises to Trevor for his explosive powers that have never been witnessed before by anyone outside of the family, but empathetic to Simon’s loneliness, Trevor chooses to destroy the taped evidence from his wire instead of delivering it to Damage Control. Meanwhile Simon’s agent, Janelle, calls to inform him that both actors have callbacks for roles in Wonder Man, but Simon is concerned his whole career would be over if anyone finds out about his powers because all Hollywood productions ban powered actors following the case of Demarr “Doorman” Davis. Agent Cleary offers Trevor a way out of his return to prison if he brings evidence of the dangerous powers of Simon Williams. Meanwhile following his audition for Von Kovak’s Wonder Man, his agent Jannelle calls him. The casting director for the movie wants to give him a shot in a smaller indie movie. It’s a bit part where he’ll play a waiter. All that’s needed is a quick self tape of his lines and he’s got the cameo. This will be great for his career, but the pressure gets to Simon and his powers rise, exploding out like an earthquake inside his apartment. Unable to use his apartment for the self tape, Simon reaches out to Trevor for help. After several more failed attempts Trevor brings him to his former co-star, Joe Pantaliano’s house as a favour. When Simon and Trevor clash with Joey Pants over his lack of respect for the art of acting they leave. With a new respect between the two, Simon invites Trevor to his apartment, where they finally record the perfect self tape and submit it to his agent. As Simon celebrates the successful submission Trevor finds the damage from his super powers but pretends it doesn’t phase him. Trevor is auditioning for a role in the reboot of Simon's favourite character Wonder Man. He feels the role is his destiny and with Trevor's help to trust the words and not overthink it, Simon delivers an excellent audition for the lead role. Trevor brings Simon for a drink to celebrate this small win but after he leaves, the former Terrorist gets a phone call asking if Simon suspects anything, he's very dangerous and needs to be brought in. This is the end of the series as Derek and John discuss Marvel Zombies Episode 4 in spoiler filled detail. But is it a positive end or a bit of a downer? But having amassed enough zombies to defeat Hulk, Wanda arrives to take the stones' energy for herself. Hulk fights off the zombies, Zombie Abomination, the giant-sized zombies, and the Asgardian Zombies before the group arrives to defend him, but they are soon overpowered. With the arrival of a zombified Thor, he soon kills Blade, Sara, and the London Master as the overwhelming hordes also kill Shang-Chi, Katy, Valkyrie, Rintrah, Parker, and Lang. Hulk unleashes a powerful blast to kill Thor, but it leaves him vulnerable and allows Wanda to take the stones' energy. Despite her initial refusal, Kamala is persuaded by Wanda to help her remake the world. After a blinding explosion, Kamala wakes up and reunites with Riri and Kate, with everything seeming to have gone back to normal. However, reality flickers, and Kamala sees the real Riri fighting zombies, who tells Kamala she has hacked the system and that what she is seeing is not real, leaving Kamala shocked. They fight Thanos alongside Thor, Rocket, and Groot, but Thanos kills Rocket and Groot, gravely injures Thor, and attempts to snap the Infinity Gauntlet. T'Challa sacrifices himself to push Thanos into Wakanda's vibranium core and destroys the Infinity Stones while Parker and Lang are saved by the remaining sorcerers of Kamar-Taj: Rintrah, Sara, and the London Master. In the present, Kamala's group reaches New Asgard, with Khonshu convincing Valkyrie to let them inside. The Asgardians have been feasting on food provided by Wanda herself, who explains that she has regained control and is actually after Kamala's powers to use them to "heal" the world. But the food is revealed to be zombie remains that infect the Asgardians and Alexei, who also had a nibble. In the fight to escape the Asgardian zombie horde, the zombies kill Zemo, Death Dealer, and Jimmy Woo while Thor fights Wanda to buy time for the group to escape in an Asgardian ship into space. Kamala activates the transmitter, but the already-stationed Nova Corps reveals that Earth has been quarantined and orders the group to turn back or be incinerated. When Shang-Chi is bitten, Wenwu bestows the mystical ten rings to Shang-Chi to contain the infection and sacrifices himself to give time for Death Dealer to help the group escape. In the present, after fighting off Skrull bandits, Shang-Chi's group arrives at Helmut Zemo's sanctuary, the Raft, where they meet Kamala's group. Both groups agree to work together and Blade reveals that the spaceship to get the SOS transmission broadcast from Earth's orbit is located in New Asgard. Along the way, Zemo attempts to sacrifice Kamala's group to the infected Talokanil for safe passage. Instead, a zombified Namor leads his people to attack the Raft while Zemo and John Walker attempt to flee in an escape pod. Namor kills Walker, Rick, Denise, and Sandra before Kamala kills him with the group's help. When the Raft begins to sink, Yelena sacrifices herself and stays behind to manually override the launch of the last remaining escape pods. The group successfully escapes and travel to New Asgard, while Yelena toasts her fallen allies before the zombies break in and devour her brains. They escape an attack by zombified Clint Barton to try to reach a former S.H.I.E.L.D. base and decode the device. But on the journey Kate is killed in a battle between the undead Captain Marvel and the malfunctioning Eternal, Ikarus. Riri sends Kamala ahead to save the world and F.R.I.D.A.Y. stays behind to save her new boss. Wearily continuing through the night Kamala gets help from the new fist of Khonshu, Blade Night, who brings her to the S.H.I.E.L.D. site where they encounter the widows led by Melina Vostokoff, Alexei Shostakov, and Yelena Belova. After an attack by Wanda Maximoff, The Queen of the Dead, Melina sacrifices herself to allow the new team to get away and find a ship to save the world.
