Shout-out to the marketing department for giving us a behind-the-scenes look at how a local-focused mountain ticks. We take you inside a Heavenly gondola of the sort made famous where a pour soul got trapped inside overnight a few weeks back. And we hear firsthand from "lifties" themselves 1. About what it was like to cope with a slow start to the season and 2. Some of the underground DJs tearin' up the Legion dancefloors this year. Given the recent suspected fentanyl deaths in town, we'll cap off the episode with an interview with State Senator Dave Cortese about efforts underway in Sacramento to get a handle on the overdose crisis. I don’t know if you saw the UCSC students in costumes out and about mid-week last night around Santa Cruz… but I have to say, I love how everyone’s getting into the Halloween spirit here across the Monterey Bay. In this week’s show we’ll head up to the Makoto show in San Francisco and play a variety of moody tunes.

This episode features an original composition by Dr. Jevgenij A. Raskatov, an associate professor in chemistry and biochemistry at UCSC, who can make stringed instruments sound both mysterious and incredibly moving at the same time. We take you to a “bear”-celebrating street festival in San Francisco that randomly helps us round out our coverage of global affairs. And we visit Natural Bridges in Santa Cruz for Welcome Back Monarchs Day. Due to a broadcast glitch, last week's DJ Bumbacat mix didn't make the radio version. We interview the relative of one of the victims of the Hamas attack on the Supernova psychedelic trance music festival in Israel.
