Talk

Children are more wise than adults because they question everything, and as adults, we are often annoyed by those questions, especially the question “Why?” We adults become “set in our ways”, when in reality answering the question “why” may cause us to question what we believe. We would rather give the answer, “it just is,” because we are intellectually lazy and we really don’t know why. The question “why” is an important question because it requires critical thinking to answer. “Why” can back up our beliefs or “why” can break them down and cause us to realize that many of our thoughts are really not our own, rather they are thoughts of others that we have accepted as our own.brbr Here are some “why” questions for you to consider. Why do some churches ban dancing? David danced! Is a little inflation a good thing? Is our tax code over 70,000 pages long? Are there racists? No one is born that way! Never stop asking why! You never know what you might discover.

The End? No, Just Getting Started!

8/12/2015
Are there millions of Christians that will give expecting nothing in return; truly living with no selfish ambition and placing the interests of other above self? I believe the answer to that question is an emphatic YES! This may be the last show that I do on Voice America, but it is only the beginning of a movement. When we come together as a community of believers and give just one dollar, we will change lives, churches, communities, and maybe even the world. My friend, mentor, and brother in Christ, David Simpson will join me on last time to discuss the concept of $1 a day and how we can use this concept to show others what it REALLY means to be a Christian and pray that it will lead people to Christ because Christ is the only True Road to Complete Fitness. Faith, Hope, and Love and the greatest of these is LOVE! Thank you for listening and I pray that some of you will join us in this fight to end debt! www.faithfinanceandfitness.com

Changing The Game

8/5/2015
With only two shows left, John O'Sullivan from Changing the Game Project returns for one last visit. Over the last year and a half, I have had the honor to meet people that are making a difference in the world, and the work that John is doing to educate and help parents and coaches of young athletes needs to be known. He is creating a movement to give youth sports back to the kids in a day when youth sports has become BIG BUSINESS. And, John is being echoed by professionals such as John Smoltz in his MLB Hall of Fame induction speech. We will discuss John's latest blog, 3 Myths that are Destroying the Youth Sports Experience for our Kids, http://changingthegameproject.com/. If you have kids playing youth sports today, you do not want to miss this show! $1 Can Change the World Philippians 2:3-4

Coaching For Significance

7/29/2015
The world of sports has become a multi-billion dollar industry with 24 hour sports coverage from ESPN and Fox Sports generically to specific sport networks such as the MLB Channel and the NFL Network. Billions of dollars are spent on the best shoes, the next innovation in baseball bats, and the next driver that is going to add 15 yards of distance off of the tee. Millions if not billions of dollars are being paid by parents for the best youth baseball, tennis, or soccer academy that is going to take their kids to the next level. Youth sports training has become big business, and it has become a confusing place for parents seeking the best route for their young athletes. Bruce Brown from Proactive Coaching joins Mickey this week to discuss these topics and share what he and his organization are doing to train coaches to coach with significance where teams and organizations intentionally create, change, and restore a culture of excellence through competence and character.

Faith, Finance, and Fitness

7/8/2015
Physical and financial fitness are hot topics. Searching physical fitness on Google gave me 97 million results and financial fitness 54 million results. The results when searching faith returned 537 million results. What does that tell us? Each of these individually are popular, but what happens when you combine all three? We begin to strive for Complete Fitness. This week we will discuss: Physical Fitness - the lessons that I've learned over the last 12 years. Losing 80 pounds and maintaining that loss since. My secrets. Financial Fitness - the lessons I've learned in 16 years of financial planning. What you should know before making any investment and what the best investment is. Faith - This is where we find the why for financial and physical fitness and I will define what it means to be on the Road to Complete Fitness, share with you how to get on the road, and when Complete Fitness is reached. $1 a Day Can Change the World! What is Wrong With Us!

7/1/2015
Recently we witnessed pure evil in Charleston, SC when Dylann Roof showed up in a church and gunned down innocent people. In the first few days after the shooting, we saw the people of SC come together in a way that should give us hope especially considering the events in Ferguson and Baltimore. What has happened since is disgracefully full of hate and the media is responsible for fomenting that hatred. For what? Ratings? Money? Greed? Pride? One group even went so far as to call for the death of all white people. How is that productive? Hate will get us nowhere. Wikipedia lists the seven deadly sins as wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. Wrath, pride, and greed are leading these people and if we follow, we will follow them straight to Hell on earth. Stop! Think! We will discuss these issues on the Mickey Ellison Show this week and delve into all 7 of the deadly sins. The Road to Complete Fitness leads to Christ, and His love is the only True Answer. We Were Made to Thrive

6/3/2015
Blessed are the poor in spirit - Humble Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted Blessed are the meek - gentle and kind even in adversity or hardship. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness. These are the Keys to Real Happiness! Be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven:(Matthew 5:16) If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!: (Matthew 7:11) We were made to Thrive! The Power Music

5/20/2015
Music! It can motivate! It can inspire! It can cause us to reflect! On the Mickey Ellison Show this week, I will play four songs that have impacted my life. One by Third Day, I Need a Miracle, literally takes me back to one of the darkest times in my life. And, it leads me to the next song we will play by Casting Crowns, Praise You in This Storm. The third song is Love Come to Life by Big Daddy Weave which impacted me in a way that has brought the $1 a Day Campaign to life. One day there will be millions that join us in our fight against debt, and as we eradicate debt in a way never seen before, we will begin to change the world as people are freed from the burden of debt and they can give as never seen before. We will end with a song by the Newsboys, We Believe. Through Complete Fitness and the $1 a Day Campaign, we will show the world what it really means to follow Christ with faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is LOVE! Join us!

We will discuss Bob's experience in creating the league and Mickey will discuss his experience as a first year coach in League 42. Now imagine how many of these organizations we can help if millions of us are debt free! $1 a day can change the lives of millions, and allow those millions to change the lives of millions more. Why?

5/6/2015
Why is the most powerful of all questions to ask if we have the courage to ask why. As kids we were curious, and we often asked the question why. Mom, why can't I touch the stove? Why can't we buy this? Why can't I do that? Why? Why? Why? As a parent, I can grow tired of my kids constantly asking me why. As we grow up something happens, and we stop asking Why and settle for just because. Why? Why do I believe what I believe? Asking that question can either substantiate our beliefs or it can cause us to question those beliefs if we can't answer the simple question, Why? This week we will have fun with the question why, but we will also ask some serious whys. And, we will continue striving to change the world $1, one day, one person, and one community at a time. Hope you will join us on the show and in the movement that is The Road to Complete Fitness! #justkeepmoving

Selfless Ambition In Action

4/29/2015
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourself. Let each of you look not only to your own interests, but also to the interest of others. Philippians 2:3-4 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, Go in peace; keep warm and well fed, but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:14-17 One person's life has been changed forever, Andrea Aiken. The selfless action of 19 people has now grown to 23. One day, Lord willing, there will be millions and then we change the world! Pastor Terry Fox from Summit Church in Wichita, KS joins Mickey this week to discuss debt and more. Don't miss it!

Just Keep Moving

4/22/2015
With life comes challenges, and we can become so caught in trying to keep our heads above water we lose ourselves. We wake up to realize we are overweight, in debt, and it feels like we are losing our minds. How did our lives become this? This isn't what we envisioned when we were kids. Something has to change. The title of this weeks show is to Just Keep Moving, but if we are moving in the wrong direction, we have to first stop! Then, start moving in the right direction, know where we are trying to go, and then just keep moving in that direction despite the challenges that may come our way. Recognize when we stray, and then get back on the road. The movement is the Road to Complete Fitness! Together we are powerful!

Student Loan Debt- Slavery

4/15/2015
Student loan debt is now well over one trillion dollars, and the cost of a college education continues to rise. One definition of slavery from Merriam-Webster is submission to a dominating influence or drudgery and toil. Debt is a form of slavery and in many cases we have volunteered ourselves as slaves, but that isn't the case with student loan debt. We have allowed our children to become slaves without them knowing that they've been sold. In this week's show: - The horrors and depression caused by student loan debt; even suicide. - Alisha Smith's experience with student loan debt even after bankruptcy - How student loans drive the cost of college up creating the need for more student loans - How The Road to Complete Fitness is going to zero in on killing student loan debt and then debt in general Individually we may be strong, but together we will be powerful!

Pause Before You Post

4/1/2015
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and many other forms of social media have become a part of our lives. The ability to communicate with almost anyone anywhere has revolutionized communication. Parents can share important moments that take place in their children's lives instantly with friends and grandparents that may live a thousand miles away. That being said lives and reputations can be destroyed in an instant as well. Scott Fitch, former Division III player of the year and current high school basketball coach, joins Mickey to discuss the impact of social media on kids and society today. One post can build while another can destroy. In some cases a wayward post could cost your child a scholarship or a job, and in the most extreme cases their lives. Parents do not miss this show! Also, The Road to Complete Fitness keeps moving. #killingdebt with no selfish ambition $1 at a time. Philippians 2:3-4
