Every Saturday afternoon and Wednesday evening Stuart Cosgrove and Tam Cowan hit the airwaves with a curious form of entertainment. Off The Ball is sort of about football, but more often than not the programmes' comedy sketches, the presenters' patter and the fans' phone calls focus on footballers' dodgy hairdos and hideous fashions. Stuart and Tam are often joined in the studio by real heavyweights from the Scottish political and cultural scenes: really, what other show could bring you former First Minister Henry McLeish and Christian - the Otis Redding of High Blantyre? Off The Ball is certainly petty, most definitely ill-informed and, with Scottish football as its target, is guaranteed to leave you roaring with laughter.
