Description:

Euron Griffith explores an obscure chapter in the annals of The Beatles, when in 1967 the Fab Four reportedly spent a week (some say 10 days) in the Rhondda as the guests of one of the town's most celebrated figures in pigeon racing: Mr Tom Morris. Talking to Mr Morris's widow Eileen and other figures in the town, Euron gains a fascinating insight into the world of pigeon fancying, and its attraction for the four Liverpudlians. Clive Harris of the Rhondda Pigeon Federation pays tribute to Tom Morris, while Martin Stanbrooke of Liverpool John Moore's University hails the recent rediscovery of the Tom Morris diaries as a major coup for Beatles studies. Euron also discovers rare archive recordings of the Beatles in Wales, including an early demo of one of their best known songs.
