It's been a big year for The Lumineers, partly due to the release of the Colorado band's self-titled debut album, but also because their high-energy folk-rock sound has reached a lot of ears. Sold-out shows and TV commercials aside, it's also been a long road to this success, and FUV's Alisa Ali got more of the story when The Lumineers stopped by Studio A to perform live. NPR: World Cafe - The Lumineers
The folk rock band, The Lumineers, formed when guitarist Wesley Schultz and drummer Jeremiah Fraites moved from Brooklyn to Denver and met cellist Neyla Pekarek through a Craigslist ad. Their breakthrough song, "Ho Hey," has been featured in TV shows and commercials, and appears on their self titled debut, which just got a national release in April. (NPR's World Cafe, 7/11/12)
