12/18/2018
Sama highlights one of the funnest desert blues bands putting out music today: Songhoy Blues. From the back cover of their 2nd album Resistance (2017): "Songhoy Blues has always been about resistance. We started the group during a civil war, in the face of a music ban, to create something positive out of adversity. As long as we have music left in us and something to say, we’ll keep fighting each day with music as our weapon, our songs as our resistance." 172: Some Hip-hop

10/29/2018
I was looking through some mixes I put together twelve or so years ago and came across this, a (simple) mix of some hip-hop tracks I was feeling at the time. There's nothing special, nothing rare and nothing unique but there are some nice jams to relax to and catch a vibe. For some reason, probably the current place hip-hop dwells in, these tracks sound incredibly fresh and novel. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did making it (12 years ago) and bringing it back now. -K

159: West Coast Nuggets with motion_correct

3/20/2018
The backstory behind this episode is simple enough. Sama was hanging out with motion_correct, listening to some records and jamming, when suddenly one track snapped to the foreground. The song sounded grungy and epic by all means, and it instantly became clear we needed to discuss this on the podcast. So the next day, Sama treks back to motion_correct’s house to record a quick chat about this 4-side compilation album featuring some incredible West Coast Nuggets. NOTE: This episode is posting Thursday, March 1 instead of Monday, March 5 to allow those in the Bay Area to check out some of the Vamp-related events happening this weekend.
