Nashville Musicians Union
Despite its 100-year history and its key role in the city's music industry, the Nashville Musicians Union gets little attention outside of the business. In January however, Music City's chapter of the national American Federation of Musicians made news by electing its first new president in two decades. Bass player Dave Pomeroy brings a different approach from his predecessor, one he hopes will keep the union relevant in challenging times. WPLN's Craig Havighurst reports.

A House panel begins formal hearings this morning on whether there is merit to a complaint that Murfreesboro Republican, Donna Rowland, lives at the address where she is registered to vote. Dr. Rishi Saxena, who lost to Rowland in the November 2008 election, alleges she doesn't live there and shouldn't be seated. Fort Campbell Suicide Prevention Depends on Buddy System...
So far this year, a Fort Campbell soldier is nearly three times more likely to die by his own hands than at war. Eleven Fort Campbell soldiers have killed themselves since January while three have died in Afghanistan. Suicides have perplexed Army officers. They're looking for new ways to curb the trend. In the meantime, the military is putting more trust than ever in the old fashion buddy system. WPLN's Blake Farmer reports in the second part of our series.

Fort Campbell Faces Wave of Suicides
A soldier is now more likely than a civilian to take his own life. The Army crossed that threshold at the end of 2008. Last year a record 143 soldiers killed themselves. And the situation is getting worse, not better. The Army has counted as many as 56 suicides since January. Eleven of those were at Fort Campbell. Cooper Calls Obama Budget "Honest but Ugly"
Nashville Democrat Jim Cooper is one of the most vocal members of Congress' fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition. He's also a strong supporter of President Barack Obama. Republicans have called the president's 3-and-a-half trillion dollar budget a massive spending plan. Cooper disagrees. Speaking with WPLN's Nina Cardona, the Congressman says the budget does fall in line with his Blue Dog ideals.
