Legal Cases Large And Small (Hour 2)

5/31/2024
Following up on our special report on Donald Trump’s criminal convictions, we take your calls reacting to the news. After wrapping up the news on Trump, we end the week on a few lighter notes. The Brewers have triumphed over the Cubs, and we bring you a cut from their most recent victory. Todd and Aaron also bring their own version of the eBaum’s World weird story roundup with a clip of somebody showing up to court via Zoom. There’s just one catch: his license is suspended, and he attended court from his car. You just can’t make this stuff up. Donald Trump: Guilty – A Special Presentation (Hour 1)

5/31/2024
Last night, history was made as jurors reached a verdict on Donald Trump’s current trial. He was convicted of all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to influence the 2016 election. Donald J. Trump is now the first former American president to be convicted of a felony. Today, Todd brings in experts across political and legal fields to reflect on this moment and what it will mean for November’s election. First, we welcome Matt Flynn, former Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. As an experienced attorney, he delves into what this verdict means. When it comes down to it, this trial is far from over. Afterwards, Trygve Olson, Senior Advisor to The Lincoln Project, joins for the second time this week. Having worked in presidential campaigns, he has a unique insight on what moves both the Trump and Biden campaigns may take. Finally, we welcome Charles Franklin, Director of the Marquette Law School Poll to talk about how this verdict may affect the numbers. Fighting Stigma Around Mental Health (Hour 1)

5/30/2024
Before we kick off today’s show, Todd brings us a public service announcement. After a season of record travel and dangerous weather conditions, the Red Cross is critically low on blood donations. If you are able, please donate blood any time you can. May is the month of mental health awareness, and we at The Todd Allbaugh Show feel it is critical to talk about mental health. Here in America, there is a terrible stigma surrounding mental health. Ultimately, we all must remember that we are not alone. Everybody has struggles, and nobody should have to deal with them on their own. The first step to fighting this stigma is to normalize talking about our own battles. More Nonsense From The State GOP (Hour 1)

5/29/2024
As we do every Wednesday, we invite Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project to discuss the latest political news. Here in Wisconsin, the state Republican convention passed a resolution that would seek to end income tax in our state. This accounts for about $19 billion of our state’s budget, and they proposed no alternative source of funds. Remembering Memorial Day with Jeremy Lyon (Hour 2)

5/28/2024
At the top of our second hour, Todd takes a moment to celebrate the memory of Bill Walton and Grayson Murray, two athletes who passed away over the weekend. As yesterday was Memorial Day, Todd reminds us to pay our respects to those who died serving our country. Here in Madison, many often forget that the UW Madison Memorial Union is indeed a memorial. In that building, there is an interactive exhibit featuring stories of UW alumni who passed away while serving. These stories go back all the way to the civil war, and you can read them on uwgoldstarhonorroll.org. Afterwards, Jeremy Lyon, Administrator of the Division of Veterans Benefits, joins us to talk about the impact of Memorial Day. At the bottom of the hour, Luke Mathers joins us for a round of Tuesday Tangents. At the end of the hour, we finally hear what’s been grinding Luke’s gears for the last few weeks: a nocturnal cat in his neighborhood. “It’s Okay To Leave Your Dog In A Hot Car” (Hour 2)

5/24/2024
In today’s second hour, Todd updates us on MAGA extremist movements on social media. At the bottom of the hour, eBaum’s World Managing Editor Peter Rapine joins us for more weird and wacky stories! As you’ve likely seen, Google now uses AI to “answer” your questions at the top of the page. No matter what Google says, DO NOT drink poison, use gasoline to cook spaghetti, leave your dog in a hot car, or drink urine to help pass a kidney stone. Aaron’s board game of the week is Telestrations! In this mix of Telephone and Pictionary, pass around notepads and try to guess what your competitors have drawn. Funding Can Be A Double-Edged Sword (Hour 1)

5/24/2024
Happy Memorial Day weekend! Pack your patience and travel safely. Today, Todd brings us some huge news. We’ve been covering the ongoing closures of two-year UW campuses for almost two years now. Governor Evers has finally responded, announcing a plan to award $20 million to communities suffering from a closure. The request he submitted to the Joint Finance Committee could make a tremendous difference in communities around our state. With our approximately $4 billion surplus, Wisconsin can certainly afford this measure. At the bottom of the hour, our friend Bradie Ewing joins us once again! As a former fullback for Badger football and the NFL, he brings an inside look to collegiate and professional sports. He and Todd discuss recent developments in NIL deals, as well as the Harrison Butker graduation speech fiasco. Trump’s “Unified Reich” Is No Joke (Hour 1)

5/21/2024
Remember when Donald Trump quoted Nazi rhetoric? Well, he wasn’t done. He posted a campaign video on Truth Social containing the phrase “unified reich” three times in the background. This should be the biggest headline of the day, but it hasn’t gotten a lot of coverage. Despite claiming that the video was not created by his campaign and was mistakenly reposted by a staffer, Trump did not take down the post until this morning. As always, Luke Mathers joins us for some Tuesday Tangents. We listen to a new video from Robert Reich of Inequality Media on Trump’s usage of Nazi language and methods. Wisconsin State Republican Convention Recap (Hour 1)

5/20/2024
Over the weekend, Todd and Aaron both went to see Willie Nelson in concert. They take a moment to reflect on the opportunity to see a living music legend. When such a massive name in music comes to your town, you owe it to yourself to check it out. After that discussion, Todd speaks on some much less friendly weekend news. The Wisconsin State Republican Convention took place, featuring some shocking resolutions. Ask your Republican elected officials if they support these ideas, from enforced transphobia to a full elimination of income tax in our state. The income tax cut is particularly egregious. This plan would eliminate 45% of Wisconsin’s general fund, and the Republican Party of Wisconsin provided no alternatives. More Laughable Hypocrisy From The Zieglers (Hour 2)

5/17/2024
Remember Bridget and Christian Ziegler of Moms For Liberty? They advocate for banning LGBT-related books from school libraries in Florida, despite participating in threesomes themselves. Nothing is wrong with that, but it’s hypocritical to condemn the behavior that they are engaging in. Christian Ziegler also had an alleged rape case thrown out. Well, their adventures aren’t over. Apparently, the Zieglers have allegedly prowled bars, surreptitiously photographing unsuspecting women as prospective threesome participants. As always with MAGA folks, every accusation is a confession. What these people are doing is reprehensible, and we have to laugh at them to nullify their social power. Moving on to a lighter topic, Todd updates us on No Mow May. It turns out that it may not be a good idea. In the UK, No Mow May leads to growth of native plants, but across most of the US, it enables invasive weeds. Next Wednesday, Todd will follow up on this topic live from Koepke’s Greenhouse! Aaron’s board game of the week is Dixit. In this game, you pick an abstract art card to describe. You want the other players to guess, but there’s a catch: you don’t get any points if everybody guesses correctly. Try to find the line of ambiguity in Dixit! Poor Excuses From Golfers And Justices (Hour 1)

5/17/2024
TGIF! Golfer Scottie Scheffler has been arrested outside the PGA tour for reckless driving and assault of a police officer. Apparently, police were directing traffic, and Scheffler sped up instead of stopping. Despite his charges, Scheffler is free to golf in today’s event. Todd brings us his thoughts. Flying the American flag upside-down is a big deal, as it signals great distress and a request for immediate help. Supreme Court justice Samuel Alito has found himself in hot water after displaying his flag upside-down, seemingly in solidarity with the January 6th riots. Allegedly, it was unrelated, as his wife was displeased about their neighbor’s yard signs, and Samuel was not involved.
