Garden of Doom E.222 A Shining

4/20/2024
Sean BW Parker has been and around the arts his entire life. After spending 10 years in Turkey, he returned to England and opened a concert venue with a bed & breakfast planned. This was on the Southern coast of England. This venture lasted only a number of months. There was dissension within the investors. They faced regulatory, legal and neighbor problems. Did I mention the ghosts? Turns out, the place was haunted. Sean and others experienced sounds, slamming, thrown glasses, propelled wall clocks, and coordinated shutters and outdoor doors slamming on repeat. Parker is a self described skeptic and is the author of 9 books. The paranormal is not his jam. But it was his life.

Garden Views E.76 Almost: The Horror Story

4/16/2024
Don't fear my first words, this is Garden Views. My guest is Edo Van Belkhom has been a working writer. He's been compared to Stephen King. He won the Bram Stoker award once and was nominated another time. He's won the Canadian Aurora Award. There are others. he wrote erotica and stories for truckers supported by the trucking industry (yes, 2 different gigs). Some of his works were adapted for a television series starring Sarah Michelle Geller. He's almost been a household name more than once. Maybe he still will be. His compedium of short stories is being re-published to celebrate its 25 year anniversary. I started down the Doom road as I expected to focus on the horrors of his imagination. We touched on those of course. But the real tale was his. A writer, working and toiling, and having success in a variety of places, while just missing the big score.

Garden of Doom E. 220 Annubis Chronicles

4/6/2024
If you took "True Blood", some of "American Gods", and tossed in some "Eternals", and shook them up in a snowglobe you purchased at Giza, you might get this book as the result. Yvonne Garcia Zaher wrote "The Annubis Chronicles" and Book One Origins is the first installment. There are gods, demigods, vampires, demons, werewolves (lots of werewolves), witches, shape shifters, elves, dark elves, star travellers, dragons, politics, criminals, cops, children of light, and crows. They all play parts in a story that starts with broken, dead bodies in the desert, but leads to prophecies that could end all supernaturals on Earth. Probably all magic. Maybe end humanity. Maybe end the gods themselves. It's a lot to unpack. Hear from the author.

Garden of Doom E.219 Olmecs

3/29/2024
They are said to have come from nowhere with a fully formed society, only to have disappeared into nowhere. They are the Atlantis of North America. The Egypt or Sumeria. They are mysterious, revered, and 100% confirmed as real. They are the Olmecs. The so called "Mother Culture" of Mezoamerica. Our friend, Robert Bitto, re-enters the Garden and separates fact from legend, what we know from what we don't, and what is with the giant head sculptures. This is no legend of the temple. But we do discuss legends and probably a temple or several.

Garden of Doom E.218 The Final 7 Years

3/23/2024
Gary Wayne returns to the Garden to discuss his long anticipated follow up to Genesis6. To do so, we visit with the giants, both pre and post Flood. We add some of the secret wisdom and try to give them names that correspond to various mythologies. Gary goes into detail about the various types and tribes of giants, whether they were large in size or just large in impact. Who were the patriarchs? How have their bloodlines survived and what those 10 families want. Are we nearing the end of days? Is this the final 7 years or are we in the age of victory? What is the proper interpretation of uncorrupted prophecy using the actual language and not adding or subtracting inconvenient words or concepts? Are all prophecies unavoidable? Are the new oligarghs friend or foe? What is the 300 Trillion Club? This might be the most Garden of Doom episode ever. Putin. Xi. Davos. Og. Gilgamesh. Anu, Ba'el, El, Enlil & Enki. These are only some of familiar words that are part of the conversation.

When I booked this guest for Microbiology and Human Evolution, I honestly had no idea what we'd be talking about. Richard Anderson has many degrees and credentials, including being a Microbiologist and award winning author. His non fiction book was recognized as book of the year. He has a post dystopian science fiction novel nearing publication, with another on the way. We discuss everything from the Big Bang to the origins and lucky circumstances of our moon, Mars, panspermia, the inner belt, and human expansion. Instead of the legal considerations, this time it's a science first view. By happy coincidence, this is the perfect companion to the prior episode.
