A Hymn for Watering Plants

7/26/2023
Not too long ago I walked into Walmart and noticed a couple of pallets of plants at the front of the store. One plant, in particular, had large floppy, yet sturdy leaves, with beautiful markings on the front of each leaf and then a deep purple coloring under each leaf. It was called a Calathea and for me anyway, it was love at first sight. It wasn't long before God taught me some lessons from this plant and yes, there's a "hymn for that" and I share it in this episode. Enjoy! #38: A Hymn for Midsummer (Plus, a New Podcast Name and the Why Behind It)

7/11/2023
Ah, summer! It's such a good time to soak in all our favorite things: the sunshine, the vacation, the family reunions, the lake, the fireworks, the barbecues and, well, you get it. We want to do it all! But James 4:13-15 and Psalm 31:15 both remind us that our times are ultimately in God's hand and it's good to remember that. Hymn writer William Freeman Lloyd had Psalm 31:15 in mind when he wrote the hymn, "My Times Are In Thy Hand." Listen in to learn more about the hymn as well as the why behind our upcoming title change for the podcast. We are changing the name of the podcast from "Hymns Illustrated" to "A Hymn for That."
