I am a multipotentialite who divides my time between growing my consulting business, convening groups of people to get the most out of life and exploring the world. I got my start in the world of community radio as a volunteer at WXPN in Philadelphia, PA and really went to town with my passion at KBOO Community Radio in Portland, OR. I am the founder of Dames Who Dine PVD, a monthly dining club for women and Amplification Allies, a unique peer networking group. I am also a writer of a blog called Daytripping with Denny K. I moved to the New England area from the Pacific Northwest in the summer of 2018 and fell in love with my new home in the Ocean State . Living in Providence, RI has opened up one adventure after the next to explore what the region offers in arts & culture, food, nature, and history.

Final Show Artclectic New England May 2020

5/30/2020
Hello and welcome to Artclectic New England – this is lucky Episode #13 -- it’s a program not about a particular style but a celebration of many…I’m your host, Dennise Kowalczyk. I started doing this podcast about a year ago and it was created to celebrate…spotlight…and elevate the variety of incredible arts, culture, lifestyle, and beauty found here in New England. One of the reasons I moved to RI – sight unseen – was due to what I discovered about Providence: an abundance of Arts, culture, and the humanities and all of those things are important to all who live here. My goal is to explore and share some of my discoveries with you – the listener – so thanks for tuning in! On today’s show, local stand-up comic, Kristen Ferreira shares her musings about living the new now…I’ll be sharing some music by local musician, Aubrey Atwater…another 7 & 7 with local podcaster, Robert Isenberg – host and producer of The Adventures of Elizabeth Crowne, Jenny Currier brings us Eating RIght - Adventures in Dining in the Ocean State, a new segment by Erika Smith – I heart Rhody and another new segment: Daytripping with Denny K. I also am sharing two interviews: a conversation with local author, Etta Zasloff but first, an chat with Loren Spears of the Tomaquag Museum. She serves as the executive director of the museum that is dedicated to educating the public about Indigenous history, culture, and arts. Next up, WTF – that is, What the (feh-rare-ah) – it is a segment featuring Kristen Ferreira, local comic and cat lover, who shares some of her insights about living in Rhode Island. Today, a reflection on living the ‘new now’….. Next, my recent conversation with Etta Zasloff. We chatted about her book, beginning with Xs and Os – the evolution of the alphabet, being a realistic romantic, and banning the red pen. Rhode Island might be the smallest state, but it comes with the biggest eats. From James Beard Award nominations to Bon Appetit's Top 10, Lil' Rhody punches way above its weight class in all things culinary. Jenny Currier fills us in on her latest dining adventures and her tips for your must-taste needs. Here’s Eating RIght - Adventures in Dining in the Ocean State! Thanks to Jenny for the ‘heads up’ on those cocktails to go options. What a great way to support local eateries, yes? To keep track of Jenny and her adventures, be sure to check out the link in the show notes. Next up, a new segment with Erika Smith! I interviewed her on last month’s show, and each month she’ll be sharing insights about why she loves’ the Ocean State so much with information on her adventures in I {heart} Rhody. And, now this month’s 7 & 7 – 7 questions in roughly 7 minutes featuring another podcast. This month, I welcome Robert Isenberg – host and producer of The Adventures of Elizabeth Crowne. Okay. One more new thing: a new segment called Daytripping with Denny K. I started daytripping back in 2014 when I was laid off from my very first job. It was a challenging and interesting time but I discovered that I could overcome the dread of job seeking for at least a few hours a month by driving to different cities within 3 hours distance from my then home town of Portland, Oregon. As I recall, I started in the fall and drove out the Columbia Gorge to visit Hood River. It was a magical experience with the foliage colors and lack of tourists swarming about. Since that initial trip, I think I've made at least twenty or so jaunts like it over the past few years. Recently, I visited Woonsocket – the city is north of Providence. I’m going to end the show some music by local musician – Aubrey Atwater with her song, The World is Old Tonight… LINKS http://freemusicarchive.org/ https://jennycurrier.com/ http://www.iheartrhody.com/ https://elizabethcrowne.podomatic.com/ https://www.ettazasloff.com/ https://www.tomaquagmuseum.org/
