Star Of David ✡️
3/9/2024
David was spiritually anointed by Samuel long before he assumed the reins of government. Saul became melancholic and at times insane. Because of David's skill on the harp, he was summoned at the suggestion of Saul's attendants, for the purpose of soothing Saul with music. He at once won the affection of Saul, and his music proved so effective in quieting the frenzied monarch that he was sent for often. This illustrates the power of love to harmonize the discords set up by a willful, violent consciousness. David's father was Jesse, whose name means Jah is, and represents eternal existence, I AM. Thus Jesse relates to Jesus the Christ. His home was in Bethlehem (house of bread), which symbolizes the substance center in the body.

SMOKING IN BABYLON Here’s why you should be celebrating 4/21, not 4/20
4/19/2023
Smoking In Babylon: The lion, messiah, and Empress of Ethiopia, in Zion. Rastafarianism is a religion, an idea, a sociopolitical movement, and an international pop culture phenomenon. For adherents, it’s a black-power Abrahamic faith with a reverence for ganja inspired by reefer houses of 1920s Harlem. There are different strains of Rastafarian belief—it’s a necessarily loose and anti-authoritarian faith—but all identify symbolically with the twelve tribes of Israel and share one prophet: Ras Tafari, the given name of Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie I, crowned in 1930, the monarch of Africa’s only independent nation at the time. His crowning fulfilled a prophecy, evidenced in verses in Psalms, believers say, that a king would come from Africa to lead black people everywhere—ultimately, to a return to Zion, the Promised Land in Ethiopia, which represents all of Africa. Some Rastas believe the emperor was a reincarnation of God, like Christ, and others that he was a destined emissary. Either way, the Ethiopian monarch is known to Rastas as His Imperial Majesty, or HIM, and revered universally. The idea that the black king fulfilled a prophecy was supplied by Marcus Garvey and inspired by biblical verses. Garvey, a Jamaican writer and activist living in New York, began the black nationalist movement in the US. In 1928, he famously said, “Look to Africa, when a black king shall be crowned, for the day of deliverance is at hand.”Leonard Percival Howell, a Jamaican preacher who worked in Harlem reefer houses as a teenager and then opened his own shop before being deported in 1932, was swayed by Garvey’s call but dismissed from the flock. Howell rented a space for his teahouse from Garvey’s organization in New York but the latter was alarmed by the reefer smoking and ejected Howell from his building and group. Back in Jamaica (then under colonial British rule) Howell fused Garvey’s call for empowerment with a black Abrahamic faith he called “Rastafari”—not quite Christian, replete with Jewish symbols—and went door to door preaching to poor villagers and finding followers. For upper-class islanders, however, the religion’s disdain for the status quo was frightening. Howell was arrested and imprisoned in 1933 and his doctrine was deemed devilish. He continued to write while incarcerated, and after his release in 1936 kept gaining followers. In 1940, the preacher established Pinnacle, a community of about 1,000 Rastas who followed a special vegetarian diet, shirking seasonings but for the sacred herb, marijuana. They grew ganja among their yams and greens. In religious rituals, discussion groups called “reasonings,” they smoked cannabis, a holy weed which they believed grew on the grave of King Solomon and conferred wisdom. Howell preached that marijuana was encouraged in the bible, for example in Genesis 1:29: And the Earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. What was not so good, in the eyes of authorities, was the fact that Howell’s people sold weed all over the island. In 1941, he was again arrested, this time in a raid on Pinnacle’s marijuana plants. Some Rastafarians say that a group of Howell’s guardsmen grew dreadlocks then, to symbolize their warrior status. But there’s no proof of that, at least not in photos, and Howell kept his hair short after his release in 1943. Nonetheless, locks became synonymous with Rastafarianism and with fighting the power. Raids continued through the next two decades—but the religion persisted in spreading. In 1962, when Jamaica gained independence from Britain, Rastafarianism was gaining ground with people.

‘In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord.’ Psalm 77:2 KJV
Here are two important prayer principles: 1) Talk to God when troubles surround you.
If you’re like most people, good times can make you trust in yourself instead of God.
It’s the troubled times that drive you to your knees. A bad medical report, a child hooked on drugs, a lost job, or a troubled marriage.
That’s God’s intention in allowing troubled times! He allows trouble to afflict us not to make us miserable but to bring us to Himself.
Hosea, the prophet, said, ‘I will depart and return to my place until they recognise their guilt and seek my face; they will search for me in their distress.’(Hosea 5:15 CSB). God’s fatherly heart wants above all that we abide and confide in Him. And if it takes trouble to do it, He loves us enough to permit it. But when we turn to Him in our troubles, we discover that He is ‘our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble’(Psalm 46:1 NLT). 2) Talk to God at all times. In his widely-read classic, The Practice of the Presence of God, Brother Lawrence speaks of prayer as a continual conversation with God – a practice for all times, places, and circumstances. While cooking and washing dishes, he found conversing with God as satisfying as in his allotted prayer times. He counsels us: ‘That we may accustom ourselves to a continual conversation with Him … in simplicity. That we need only to recognise God intimately present with us and to address ourselves to Him every moment.’ That sounds like Paul’s instructions on the subject: ‘With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be alert with all perseverance and every request for all the saints,’(Ephesians 6:18 NASB).

E-V-E- The Message
1/31/2023
Let me blow ya mind cover . Eve, eve (Heb.)--elementary life; life; living. The first woman: "And the man called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living" (Gen. 3:20). Meta. Love, or feeling, in individual consciousness. The I AM (wisdom) puts feeling into what it thinks, and so "Eve" (feeling) becomes the "mother of all living." Feeling is Spirit, which quickens. Woman symbolizes the soul region of man and is the mother principle of God in expression. Back of the woman (feeling) is the pure life essence of God. Adam and Eve represent the I AM identified in life substance. They are the primal elemental forces of Being itself. Samples/sounds eerily similar to Dr. Dre’s last track “The Message” from the 2001 album featuring Mary J Blige. Interestingly enough, “The Message” was the only track NOT produced by Dre on the album. It was instead produced by Bronx native Lord Finesse. Did Dre bite Lord Finesse’s synth line?

Mt Olympus Just as recently as last, year critics were complaining that they couldn’t understand Big K.R.I.T.’s lyrics because of his Mississippi southern drawl. But now that K.R.I.T. is rising in popularity and receiving more attention–partly due to his name being mentioned in “Control” verse–those same doubtful critics are now eating their words as they realize K.R.I.T.’s lyrical abilities.

Or, as she told her sister-in-law the night before her death, “If I looked like Betty Grable, I could capture the world.” Dorothy Dandridge, Marilyn Monroe and another black friendly actress, Ava Gardner often went to parties together. Marilyn and Dorothy also got a kick out of both their first names and last names started with the same initial. Marilyn never tried to hide her friendship with Dorothy. It was so unpopular for whites to have black friends during segregation that white media outlets refused to report on their friendship, even if they were peers in the same field. Marilyn Monroe was very ‘black friendly’ and it’s rumored that she tried to talk President John F. Kennedy into during more for civil rights before her death. Ironically, both Marilyn Monroe and Dorothy Dandridge would die in a similiar fashion. Both died of accidental pill overdoses. Actor #Marlon Brando was extremely attracted to Dorothy Dandridge and shocked an audience when he kissed Dandridge on the mouth during an awards ceremony. Interracial mixing in Hollywood; was unheard of in the 1950’s and was looked down upon. Even Though Dorothy an entertainer, and her sister Cyril H. Dandridge, a cabinet maker and minister. Under the prodding of her mother, Dorothy and her sister Vivian Dandridge began performing publicly, usually in black Baptist churches throughout the country. Her mother would often join her daughters on stage. As the depression worsened, Dorothy and her family picked up and moved to Los Angeles where they had hopes of finding better work, perhaps in film.
