The Monsterverse films may be diminishing returns creatively, but thankfully, the television side doesn't have the same problem. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters returns to the small screen and has what so many have wished the films had: compelling human characters. The first season ended on quite the cliffhanger, and 3 years is a long time to wait between seasons. Hopefully, season 2 can be just as satisfying a watch. Delivering a successful blockbuster is more challenging than you might expect. There needs to be a compelling star, memorable action sequences, and a story that makes people care. It is unfortunate that with streaming, the expectation for a good blockbuster has been diluted. Phil Lord and Chris Miller aren't diluting the genre; they are showing what it is capable of.
