The South African Communist Party has taken a decision to participate in the 2026 Local Government Elections outside of the ANC. Among other reasons for this decision, SACP is of the view that the ANC has failed to reconfigure the alliance and it has been weakened by its "grand Coalition" of the ANC/DA after it has failed to win the May 29 election.
