The McAllen Public Utility continues to invest in an exhibit at International Museum of Art and Science to educate visitors about the importance of water in the Rio Grande Valley. According to IMAS officials, “Water Journey” focuses on water, a vital resource for everyone. It provides a comprehensive understanding of water’s journey, from its origin to the different cleaning stages, distribution, personal consumption, and the necessary actions for its conservation. In this exhibit visitors can actively engage with the experience through activating interactive mechanical elements, reading labels, analyzing their content and later on implementing water conservation tips.

Hello McAllen: McAllen’s Champion Lakes Golf Course To Host Drive, Chip & Putt Qualifier

Champion Lakes Golf Course in McAllen, Texas, is proud to be the host golf course for the Drive, Chip & Putt Local Qualifier on Friday, May 2, 2025, starting at 2:00 p.m. Hosted in partnership with the Southern Texas Professional Golf Association (STPGA) and the McAllen Parks & Recreation Department, the event is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 15 years old. Participants will have three shots at each station and qualifying golfers will advance to the regional portion and a chance at the National Competition at Augusta National Golf Club, home of The Masters, where they will compete against junior golfers from across America. Registration is free and there are no skill level requirements to take part in the competition. You can be placed on a waitlist if the age bracket is full. Golf is a spectator sport. Bring the entire family to watch the boys and girls challenge themselves in Drive, Chip and Putt local qualifier. To sign up, head to www.McAllenParks.net by 4:00 p.m. on April 27 to secure a spot.
