These conversations are in-depth because, unlike many hosts, Teri takes the time to read and review each novel before interviewing her guests. She believes that by doing so, she can guarantee a good fit for her audience as well as an interesting and inquisitive interview. Additionally, the first Saturday of each month, Teri releases what she affectionately calls OFAU – Online for Authors University. These once-monthly episodes feature writing tips for authors in all stages of their careers and speaks directly to her desire to mentor others. Vacation Interrupted: When Time Off Turns Into a Mystery with Author Pamela Kyel

4/16/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Pamela Kyel, author of the book On a Break in Charm City. Award-winning author Pamela Kyel was born and raised in Edgewood, Maryland—north of Charm City. It’s kind of a running joke that when you live near a large, well-known city, you tell people that’s where you’re from. So, unofficially, she’s from Baltimore! She followed the drum of the Air Force for 25 years. She joined her husband on six assignments—OCONUS (Outside Continental United States), aka overseas, and CONUS (Continental United States). Along the way, they added two children and numerous pets, not counting the half-a-dozen cats that came with their house in Italy. She has traveled extensively across the states and Europe, with her favorite overseas locations being Paris and Slovenia, among stateside favorites such as Rocky Mountain National Park and Door County, Wisconsin. Family is important to her, and nowhere is that more evident than in her Charm City Mystery Series. When you’ve lived across the world from mothers and brothers, you adapt and overcome. You create family—and they stay with you long after the career ends. Her military family resides in Virginia, Texas, and North and South Carolina—with many still on active duty worldwide. Writing came out of their duty station in Illinois. She picked up her computer while sitting with her elementary-age child through covid classes and thought, I can write a book. And the rest is history. While her original novel will never see the light of day, she grew and expanded her confidence in what she was doing. She was good at this, and she would have something to show for it one day. In a little over three years, she’d trod the agent querying circuit and amended her goal. Now, she just needed to hold her book in her hand. It was necessary. With that in mind, she sent out three queries to small publishers, and for her, the third time was the charm. The Wild Rose Press picked up her book and offered a contract. Less than a year later, she now held all those years of hard work in her hand. In my book review, I stated On a Break in Charm City is a cozy mystery by Pamela Kyel. This is the third in her Charm City Mystery series, and once again, Pamela does not disappoint! I love this cast of characters including Laci Duval, an investigator with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. However, she is forced to take a vacation. But if you know Laci, you know she doesn't do relaxation. Instead, she finds looking for a missing person who just happens to be NSA. Laci is funny, clutzy, a bit socially awkward, and thinks of everyone as a type of iced tea. In this installment, we continue her journey with potential love interest, Antonio, and keep up with her best friends Sammie and Cassy, as well as Rev and, new to this series, his brother Lum. If you like a good mystery, with twists and turns, break-ins, fires, kidnapping, computer programming, surveillance cameras, trackers, and even Russians, then this is the cozy for you! Overture to War: An American Opera Student’s Daring Life in Wartime Berlin with Author Janis Robinson Daly

4/14/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Janis Robinson Daly, author of the book Under Two Flags. Splitting her time between Cape Cod, New Hampshire, and snowbird destinations, a tablet becomes Janis Robinson Daly’s library and desk, packed for reading and writing, wherever she might land. Inspired by the discovery that an ancestor founded the Woman’s Medical College of PA in 1850, Daly wrote her first novel, The Unlocked Path, which celebrates pioneering women doctors at the turn of the 20th Century. Its sequel, The Path Beneath Her Feet, honors the work of the American Women’s Hospitals in rural America during the 1930s. Her third book with Black Rose is scheduled for a March 2026 release. Another historical fiction, Under Two Flags is a re-write and retelling of a memoir of a young Boston woman who travels to Berlin in 1916 to study opera. The original memoir, published in 1918, was ghostwritten by Daly's grandfather, Eliot H. Robinson, Sr. Daly graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Wheaton College, at the time, a women’s college. At Wheaton, she developed a fond appreciation of the supportive relationships established between students and a heightened awareness of female-centric issues. A presentation of how her genealogy research inspired her to begin writing has made Daly a sought-after speaker for book clubs, women’s groups, libraries, and writers’ groups. Her annual literary citizenship program, #31titleswomeninhistory, has gained recognition from historical fiction authors and avid readers as an innovative way to celebrate Women's History Month in March. In my book review, I stated Under Two Flags is a historical fiction by Janis Robinson Daly. And Josephine? She is a character you will want to meet! She is the daughter of US immigrants who embraced all things American. Her mother gave up a promising career as an opera singer and her father built a business from nothing. Josephine, having her mother's singing gift, believed she, too, might be an opera singer until her father's death changed everything. Now, as WWI erupts in Europe, Josephine is given a chance of a lifetime - to study opera in Germany at the same school her mother had been forced to leave. As with most adventures, Josephine arrives wearing rose colored glasses, assuming the war would be a mere inconvenience. However, she quickly learns the war permeates every aspect of German life. And as an American, she was suspect - a privileged oddity at best and a potential spy at worst. What happens when the US enters the war? When a German solider takes a fancy to Josephine? When one of Josephine's friends is accused of being a spy? When the cold and hunger leave her weak with anemia? When her teachers find her too American? When being Jewish clashes with food rations? When homesickness makes her rethink all of her choices? When going home is no longer a choice? Under Two Flags is a fictionalized version of a real woman during WWI - and it's a story you won't want to miss. Wolfmen, Mages, and Divided Lands: Building a Fantasy That Feels Strikingly Human with Author B Marcus Walker

4/9/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is B Marcus Walker, author of the book Spirit of the Plain. Originally from Chicago’s south side, Brian Walker has worked twenty years in numerous industries as a web and eLearning developer, facilitator, and project manager. His true passion has been as a writer of fiction, both genre and literary. You can find his writing on Medium in publications including Thought Thinkers, ILLUMINATION, and Morning Musings, as well as short fiction in the Minetta Review. His first novel, Spirit of the Plain, is available in print and eBook. In my book review, I stated Spirit of the Plan by B Marcus Walker is Book 1 of a fantasy series. If you are a fantasy lover, this one has all the essential elements - mages, witchcraft, wolfmen, worlds and cultures colliding, love, and intrigue! Even as someone who usually doesn't read fantasy, I enjoyed the book and read far later into the night than I should have. Several characters stood out to me, including Collier Truitt - a man forced to flee his country at the threat of death to a tribe that was once his father's. He struggles with seeking retribution or peace. There is also Ashlyn, an acolyte mage, who is tasked to rid the Plains of its controlling spirit. She is young but more powerful than she understands. And finally, I loved Arnak, a wolfman known as a Lyken. His grumpy style made me laugh, but his insights were often spot-on. The author did a good job pulling me into the story, even as a non-fantasy reader. Definitely a novel to consider for your TBR! Fastballs and Fear: A Coming-of-Age Story Twisted with International Intrigue with Author Harrison Jenkins

4/7/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Harrison Jenkins, author of the book A Bad Hand. Harrison (Hank) Jenkins is a seasoned tech leader and product innovator with over two decades of experience delivering groundbreaking SaaS, mobile, and Internet of Things (IoT) products. With five patents to his name, he thrives at the intersection of creativity and technology. Beyond his professional pursuits, Harrison channels his passion for craftsmanship into projects like his recent revival of a vintage 1975 Honda CB750 Super Sport. He lives in Salt Lake City, Utah with his incredible wife where they have spent the last two decades raising their children surrounded by wonderfully supportive neighbors. Salt Lake City’s proximity to so many outdoor activities has fueled Harrison’s love for all kinds of outdoor adventures. The only downside to his hometown is its distance from the amazing sailing waters of the San Juan Islands in the Pacific Northwest or the British Virgin Islands. Hank is always interested in talking with his readers. If you’re interested in inviting him to your book club, store, school event, or podcast, please visit his book clubs page. In my book review, I stated A Bad Hand is a YA thriller by Harrison Jenkins - and this novel certainly kept me guessing. We quickly meet James, a loner teenager who isn't sure of himself or where he fits in the world. He is obsessed with all things Japanese and baseball. He doesn't really like school, isn't sure how he feels about religion, has a mom with mental health issues, and believes the coming year is going to be a bust. However, he meets a girl and begins restoring a motorcycle - both of which help him begin to see things about himself he didn't know before. But before he can get comfortable, his world comes crashing down. As he works to figure life out again, he becomes embroiled in the Japanese Yakuza - a deadly criminal organization. The question becomes this - will he get involved at a risk to his own life? Will he become the person he was meant to be? Although promoted as a thriller, it is also a coming of age story combined with a love story. I think you'll love it! Lights, Conflict, Chemistry: When a TV Set Turns Into a Battleground of Hearts with Author Noel Stark

3/31/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Noel Stark, author of the book Love, Camera, Action. Noël Stark has worked in almost every film and TV industry position, appearing in Land of the Dead and DeGrassi, writing for Paw Patrol, producing over 200 hours of scripted and unscripted television, and having her film Stronger at both the Sundance and Toronto International Film Festivals. Although Canadian, she lives in Hollywood with her young son, who desperately misses winter. She likes chocolate milk in her coffee and gets most of her real-world intel from her three step-children. In my book review, I stated Love, Camera, Action by Noel Stark is a contemporary romance - with a good deal of humor! Of course, I need to say upfront, that this book is steamy, so for my readers who prefer closed door sex scenes, this book is more than that and skipping the scenes isn't really possible. That said, despite not usually reading steamy myself, I became quickly hooked by the characters and wanted to see it through. The premise is that Cali, an up-and-coming TV director, is great at directing sex scenes, so she is hired for a show for a couple of steamy episodes. She meets up quickly with Jory, a hot but smug photography director. And sparks fly - on all levels. But what caught my attention was that, although a spicy romance, the characters had great depth. Cali is dealing with long-held views about life and love because of an absent father and unstable mother. And Jory? He lost his mother to cancer at a young age and is worried that he may have inherited the gene. For their own reasons, both are drawn to love while also pushing against it. Plus, Noel did a great job describing what happens on a TV set, which I found fascinating. Noel is an amazing author because despite not being a romance reader and despite not liking books with chili pepper ratings, I was all in by the end of the first chapter. This book definitely gets five stars. When Climate Catastrophe Changes Everything: A Literary Sci-Fi Journey Through Deep Time with Author Tim Weed

3/24/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Tim Weed, author of the book The Afterlife Project. Tim Weed is the author of four books of fiction. His recent novel, The Afterlife Project, was named a best book of 2025 by Library Journal and the Toronto Star. He’s won multiple Writer’s Digest Annual Fiction Awards and his work has been shortlisted for the Eric Hoffer Book Award, the Tobias Wolff Award for Fiction, the Prism Prize for Climate Literature, the Fish International Short Story Award, the William Faulkner-William Wisdom Award for a Novel-in-Progress, the New Rivers Many Voices Project, and many others. His essays and articles have appeared in Writers Digest, Literary Hub, The Revelator, The Millions, The Writer’s Chronicle, Talking Points Memo, The Good Men Project, and elsewhere. Tim serves on the core faculty of the Newport MFA in Creative Writing and is the co-founder of the Cuba Writers Program. A former featured expert for National Geographic Expeditions, he spent the first part of his career directing international educational programs throughout Latin America and in Spain, Portugal, Australia, Iceland, and other locations around the globe. He holds a BA in Spanish from Middlebury College, a master’s in international affairs from the University of California, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College. He occasionally leads international travel programs and appears often at writing conferences and other events in the U.S. and abroad. In my book review, I stated The Afterlife Project is a dystopian science fiction by Tim Weed. I can honestly say I am shocked by how much I enjoyed this book. I tend not to like science fiction or dystopian literature. However, this one had me from moment one. Why? The characters! We get into the head of Nick, a microbiologist, who is now 10,000 years into the future due to the cataclysmic climate issues caused by humans. We also follow the last remaining members of the Centauri crew in 2068 - tasked with trying to save the species through a journal kept by Alejandra. We skip back and forth between the two time periods, always wondering if the human race survives. Tim did an amazing job describing a world 10,000 years after it's destruction by humans - as well as what it would be like to live in a climate crisis - all without being preachy. He manages this by letting us see the world through the imperfect eyes of the characters. They make mistakes. They trust the wrong people. They believe in miracles that aren't likely to happen. They do the wrong thing for the right reasons. Just like you and just like me. I couldn't put this book down and have already recommended it to several friends. It's a must-read! After the Hardest Goodbye: Love, Loss, and Learning How to Live Again with Author Tony Stewart

3/21/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Tony Stewart, author of the book Carrying the Tiger. Tony Stewart has made award-winning films for colleges and universities (“A Union of People,” “Skidmore: Concurrence of Ideas”), written software that received rave reviews in The New York Times and the New York Daily News (“Tony Stewart’s Home Office”), designed a grants-management application that was used by three of the five largest charities in the world (“Riverside Grants”), and led the development of an international standard for the messages involved in buying and selling advertisements (“AdsML”) for which he spoke at conferences across Europe and North America. His memoir Carrying the Tiger won two Gold Medals at the 2025 Global Book Awards. In her book review, Carole O’Neill stated: His first line – “Lynn is leaving us faster than I expected,” stayed with me for days. This heart wrenching memoir tells the story of Tony Stewart and his wife, Lynn, who spent years navigating through the promising and devastating times of their final days together. They went through several storms and spent many days in the shadow of death. Yet, their determination to find the right doctors with the correct treatments for Lynn’s terminal cancer kept them treasuring their nights together throughout the journey, even when their days were full of pain. Carrying the Tiger documents the days, weeks, and years that Tony and Lynn followed the advice, suffered the setbacks, and eventually found a way to accept how Lynn lived while trying to make peace with what she was experiencing. Lynn was a New York City artist who exhibited still life paintings and felt that art brought beauty and meaning to a chaotic world. She spent months in the fall of 2014 suffering from indigestion, acid reflux and diarrhea. That’s when she stopped enjoying meals and started losing a lot of weight. The doctors gave her every possible test without finding the cause. Eventually an MRI showed signs of something in her spine that brought her to her first oncologist. Lynn and Tony set up a private web page on CaringBridge where they could post information in one place and their friends could respond at their convenience. That’s how her journal was born. Friends liked reading the posts and learning about the setbacks and side effects. The numbers reached over 200 friends reading and sending comments. She felt it was like having her own cheerleading squad. And it was those same friends who made her smile during her final days. In Carrying the Tiger, Tony was able to expertly weave scenes of real-life along with photographs, emails, and internet posts into an intimate narrative. I held my breath when she would stop eating and he would stop encouraging her, certain she wouldn’t make it through the night. Yet, she would wake the next day to fight the battle again. And, certainly there were quiet moments of joy, like the time they sat in their kitchen looking out at the river as he read her emails from her journal that made her smile. By February of 2021, after treatments, three major spinal surgeries and experimental drugs, Lynn seemed to be at peace. Hospice was in place as she developed a form of dementia from her brain tumors. Her inability to swallow any foods or liquids told them she is in her final stage. On February 24, 2021, Lynn died at 8:00p.m. This tale of love and loss is one you should add to your TBR list. Love, Lies, and a Man in Gray: When Rekindled Romance Turns Unhinged with Author Paul Trammell

3/17/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Paul Trammell, author of the book Until They Bury Me. Paul Trammell lives on a sailboat, currently at anchor in Bocas del Toro, Panama. He is the author of ten books and co-author of three more. His latest, Identity Crisis, is a nautical thriller inspired by his taking on a sailing hitchhiker and his mother’s resulting fear for his safety. This follows his psychological thriller Until They Bury Me, which explores the dangers of falling in love too fast and assuming your college sweetheart is still the person you loved years ago. Paul has also written many nonfiction books, his latest being Sailing to Newfoundland. He is also the author of two self-help books about alcoholism (he is ten-years sober), the latest of which is The Joy of Living Clean and Sober. And he writes short stories (most of which are sci-fi) and poetry. These can be found on his Substack page. Paul writes and podcasts full time, but also finds time to surf, spearfish, and sail. His two podcasts are Offshore Sailing and Cruising with Paul Trammell and Dream Chasers and Eccentrics. His website is paultrammell.com In her book review, Carole O’Neill wrote: While there are moments of debauchery, madness and sensuality, this psychological thriller, written by Paul Trammell, takes you on quite an interesting ride. We meet Chris, an ex-con, who has just discovered his high school sweetheart, Azalea is divorced from her first husband and available. Their reunion goes so well they get married a few days later. Then his problems begin. She sees things and talks to people who are not really there. He tries to understand what is happening to her, and even attempts to convince her he also sees the man in the grey suit. Soon he feels the need to rent an apartment across the street so he can watch her in action. When he realizes he will be responsible for covering all of her expenses, as well as the monthly rent, he gets involved with organized crime to pay the bills. It’s not very often that I’m unable to guess the ending of a story. Trammell keeps shifting the clues so that alternating layers of reality kept me guessing until the very end. The Waiting List: Six Strangers, One Day, and the Gift That Changes Everything with Author Rebecca Wolf

3/12/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Rebecca Wolf, author of the book Alive and Beating. Rebecca is a former journalist whose fiction and essays have appeared in many publications, including Apricity and Tablet. She is a volunteer writing tutor for PEN America’s Prison Writing Program, and she lived in Jerusalem as a foreign student before attending Barnard College. She lives in New Jersey with her family. In my book review, I stated Alive and Beating is a beautiful literary fiction novel. Loosely based on the true story of Rebecca's friend, Alisa, this story looks at six individuals linked only by the need for an organ donation to survive. Set in Israel, the six main characters span across the different religions and nationalities. Although this area of the world is steeped in conflict, Rebecca shows us something more - humanity. In fact, when hope for a healthy body is the top priority, we see that so many other things just don't matter. I was immediately drawn into the characters' lives and hoped they would find their miracle. From the young Hasidic woman to the young teenage boys, I went willingly along on their journeys of both despair and hope. And of course, the thought never left me that for these six to survive, someone had to die. Offering life from tragedy is a noble gift. This is a story that will stick with you long after you close the pages. The only thing I wish I knew is what the characters did with the great gift bestowed upon them. Behind the Camera: A Woman’s Journey Through Music, Protest, and First Love with Author Kim Gottlieb-Walker

3/10/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Kim Gottlieb-Walker, author of the book Lenswoman in Love. Kim Gottlieb-Walker’s career as a photographer covered a wide range of subjects, from classic rock and roll, reggae, and politics in the ‘60s and ‘70s to major motion pictures and television shows. While still at UCLA (where she received a BA in Motion Picture production) and shortly thereafter, she shot for underground LA newspapers and magazines including Crawdaddy, the Staff, and Music World. She also shot the stills for John Carpenter’s Halloween, The Fog, Christine and Escape from New York and worked at Paramount Pictures for nine years as the production photographer for Cheers, and five years for Family Ties. For three decades she was an elected representative for still photographers on the National Executive Board of IATSE Local 600, the International Cinematographers Guild. Her coffee-table photo books Bob Marley and the Golden Age of Reggae and On Set with John Carpenter were published by Titan Press (UK) distributed by Random House (USA) and both are now in multiple printing. They have editions in Japanese, Russian and French. She’s had gallery shows in London, Los Angeles and New York. Her debut novel, LENSWOMAN IN LOVE - a novel of the 1960s & ‘70s has won over a dozen literary awards. Her not-yet published historical novel CATERINA BY MOONLIGHT, is about a girl growing up in Renaissance Florence in the late 15th century. Her short story “Summer of Love – 1967” appears in the multi-award-winning anthology FEISTY DEEDS. In my book review, I stated Lenswoman in Love is a historical romance by Kim Gottlieb-Walker. We are introduced to Maddy Garfield as a teenager at some point after her father dies. Her mother owns a bar where folk musicians play and hires a college kid working arely ifor a degree in film for the summer to help out. Maddy, known as Garfield to the new hire, Jake, falls madly and deeply in love. But the age different is too great, and Jake heads back to school early. Maddy never forgets him and spends her days comparing others to him. And they always come up short. In the meantime, she becomes a photographer and scrabbles her way up the ladder, slowly capturing stories and people - occasionally finding her way into Jake's circle. This story is filled to the brim with musical and film references, as well as the unrest of the 60s and 70s. Vietnam? It's in there. Nuclear plants? Yep. Bob Marley? The Beatles? Hippes? College protests? And so much more. These references land the book squarely in historical fiction, though it pains me that these decades are considered historical. However, Maddy's deep and abiding love for a man she barely knows puts the book into the romantic realm. And Kim balances the two with ease. I enjoyed the book thoroughly, and think you will, too! My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Elyse Seal, a fiction book coach. Elyse helps authors get unstuck and finish their novels without spending years rewriting the same draft. With five years of experience and training from Author Accelerator, she specializes in sci-fi and fantasy authors. She helps writers build solid story foundations before they write and coaches them through editing in layers, big picture first, then scenes, then language. Her approach is candid and collaborative. She challenges authors to go deeper into character development and examine whether each scene is doing the heavy lifting it needs to do. Because every word matters. Authors hire her for clarity, accountability, and expert guidance toward the finish line. According to Elyse’s website, “you’ll stop second-guessing and start writing with purpose, direction, and the confidence that your story matters. Whether you’re just starting with an idea, deep in your first draft, or stuck after many revisions, I’ve got you. “Writing is hard, but it’s not because you’re doing it wrong. Philosophy, Pop Songs, and Second Chances: A Story Told Entirely from Within with Author Joseph M Lenard

3/5/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Joseph M Lenard, author of the book The Book of Kennedy. Joseph Martin Lenard is a former IT (Information Technology) guy now turned American author, blogger, cancer survivor, podcaster, political activist, speaker, social media influencer, spokesperson / affiliate for American Hartford Gold IRA group, and vlogger known for writing and publishing the #1 Amazon bestseller historical fiction thriller Terror Strikes: Coming Soon to a City Near You. He also released in December 2022 a book called How To Write A Book And Get It Published: Hints, Tips & Techniques, to help writers fulfil their dream of becoming an internationally published author, and his third Internationally available fare dropped August 2023 titled ChristiTutionalist TM Politics as a companion (written piece) to his ChristiTutionalist TM Politics podcast of same name began airing in June 2023. In 2025 release of 6th International book "The Book Of Kennedy" (his first available in Hard-Cover, as well as Audio-Book, eBook, Softcopy) hit in August of 2025. In my book review, I stated The Book of Kennedy is YA novelette. The book follows Kennedy, a young woman who is transitioning from one relationship to another. Written without any dialogue, the reader is put into Kennedy's head as she contemplates relationships, life, faith, hope, and kindness. Joseph uses scriptures, song lyrics, and movie/book quotes to help the reader understand Kennedy's journey forward as she reflects on her past relationship and the new one. Joseph states upfront that he is not trying to be Dickens, and that he uses today's way of speaking to write. Although I understand his reasoning, I often found it difficult to read, wanting to stop and correct the errors along the way or change fragments into full sentences. Nonetheless, the lessons learned are very valuable. Plus, he gives a long list of additional resources for those who want to learn more about the philosophy being mulled in Kennedy's head. Listening to the Whisper Within: A Story of Loss, Trust, and Becoming with Author Kelly Keefe

3/3/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Kelly Keefe, author of the book She. Kelly Keefe is a bestselling author, speaker, and transformational guide helping women activate their voice, embody their truth, and become who they came here to be. She is the author of She, a soul-stirring novel of awakening, and Rise Above Fear, a powerful guide to releasing limitation and leading with purpose. Kelly is the Founder of The Heartspace, a sanctuary for healing and energy mastery, and the creator of The Frequency Field, a transformational framework woven into her signature programs like Becoming365™ and The Writers Circle. Her work spans from United Nations stages to retreats in Costa Rica, guiding leaders, creatives, and seekers through personal and spiritual evolution. Whether through story, energy, or presence, her mission is clear: You're here with a divine purpose - let's tune in. To learn more or work with Kelly, follow on Instagram at @thekellykeefe In my book review, I stated She is a contemporary fiction. The story follows a woman only known as 'she.' What is amazing is that I didn't realize 'she' was never formally introduced until I tried to remember the character's first name and couldn't! Although we don't know her name, we know plenty. She had a heartbreak. She decided to change up her life by moving to New York City despite having no job there. She is ready to be someone, something else. I enjoyed going along with her as she found an apartment, began to gather friends and acquaintances, and discovered herself through different yoga practices. Plus, there's a bit of romance, and who can resist watching someone fall in love? This book lands squarely in literary fiction, giving readers a front-row seat into the daily life of a woman trying to discover who she is and how she wants to show up in the world. A Machine with a Moral Compass: The Story That Won’t Let You Look Away with Author Michael Colon

2/24/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Michael Colon, author of the book The Gift from Aelius. Michael Colon is a creative freelance writer and novelist, born and raised in the Big Apple, New York City. He uses his craft to profoundly impact the lives of others with thought-provoking words that breathe life into his characters. He often equates his writing to painting masterpieces with prose. His inspiration comes from various societal art forms and his own life experiences. When he isn’t writing he enjoys working out, watching sports, visiting museums, and exploring nature trails. In my book review, I stated The Gift from Aelius is a fantasy novella. Despite not being a hardcore fantasy reader, I like the premise of this book. What happens when AI is smart enough to take over? What do humans do? And more importantly, what does AI, known in this story as Codex, do? And wouldn't it be ironic if Codex determined power at any cost was the answer, given they were created by humans who believe that power at any cost is the answer? And all would be going as planned, except one Codex is more than meets the eye. As he begins having 'glitches', he comes to understand that the world would be a better place if Codex and humans could live side by side in harmony. For A191, this becomes his personal mission. But will he be decommissioned before he can reach his goal? At times, I struggled with the writing, feeling like I was being told rather than left to experience. However, the author did a good enough job that I had to finish reading to find out what happened in the end. Fathers, Silence, and Second Chances: Journey Through Loss and Forgiveness with Author Steven Scott Eichenblatt

2/21/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Steven Scott Eichenblatt, author of the book Pretend They are Dead. Steven is a graduate of Florida State University and the University of Florida College of Law. A practicing attorney and father of five, he has spent over thirty years advocating for children as a pro bono guardian ad litem and representing families of first responders killed on 9/11. As a founding partner of Page & Eichenblatt, he has received multiple awards for legal excellence and community work supporting children. He lives with his wife in Orlando, Florida. In my book review, I stated Pretend They Are Dead is heartbreaking memoir. Steven's father had issues - enough that his parents divorced. She remarried a man who was verbally and physically abusive. Although, technically, Steven had two fathers, he felt abandoned by both. By the time he graduated high school, he called no one dad. The trauma from his youth made it impossible to have lasting relationships, though he tried, failing at two marriages. But something he didn't want to fail at was being a father. So, he loved his children with everything he had and worked hard to figure out the truth of his past. I like Steven's style of writing. I felt like I was in his head - which spins from one topic to the next. I could see why he exasperated his parents at a young age! He is also honest - about his own actions as well as the actions of others. Despite the circumstances, in the end, he doesn't really cast blame. Instead, he figures out how to forgive, let the past go, and find joy in today. If you like a good memoir, you'll like this book! Four Women, One War: Friendship and Secrets in a Hidden WWII World with Author Dorothea N Buckingham

2/19/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Dorothea N Buckingham, author of the book Code Name Rascal. Dorothea “Dee” Buckingham is a seasoned author, retired librarian, and dedicated historian who has called Hawaiʻi home for over 30 years. Her profound interest in the daily lives of women during World War II in Hawaiʻi has been the cornerstone of her literary work. Dee’s commitment to uncovering and narrating these often-overlooked stories has established her as a respected voice in historical fiction. Her notable publications include My Name is Loa, a historical novel set on Molokaʻi, and Who Murdered Jane Stanford?: An Answer Imagined, which delves into the mysterious death of Stanford University’s co-founder in 1905 Hawaiʻi. Additionally, she co-authored World War II Hawaiʻi with her husband, retired Lieutenant Colonel John Buckingham, offering a pictorial history that captures the transformative impact of the war on the islands. Dee’s passion for storytelling extends beyond writing; she is an Author Accelerator certified book coach, providing guidance to aspiring writers. Her engaging talks and workshops have been featured on west coast radio and television in Hawaiʻi, and she has presented to diverse audiences, sharing her insights on writing and historical research. Her latest work, Code Name Rascal, continues her mission to illuminate the vital roles women played during wartime, weaving a narrative that is both historically rich and emotionally resonant. Dee enjoys connecting with readers and is available to meet with book clubs and reading groups, both in person and via Zoom, to discuss her work and share insights into her writing process. In my book review, I stated Code Name Rascal is a wonderful historical fiction. This story takes place in Hawaii immediately following the attack on Pearl Harbor. We quickly meet four women, all very different from one another, who join a classified radar operation known as WARD, with the code name Rascal. One of the things I loved best about this story is that I was completely unaware of WARD or even the issues in Hawaii after the initial bombing. I'm not sure where I was during school, but there is a lot more to what happened than I realized! Code Name Rascal helped fill in so many of the blanks. I also really loved Dorothea's characters. CJ is a strong, newly-married journalist. Ruth is a quiet Navy officer wife. Jane is a pilot going through divorce. And Eve is a Honolulu socialite. Imagine all these women thrust into tiny quarters, working grueling hours, keeping war secrets, and still trying to figure out their own lives. It's like a historical soap opera, full of determination, grief, danger, and disappearing dreams - and it's one you won't want to miss! Two Lives, One Car, and a Country in Crisis: A Journey Toward Understanding with Author Eric F Goldstein

2/17/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Eric F Goldstein, author of the book Taught. As a middle and high school teacher, Eric Goldstein founded the Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization, One World Education. Through programs that teach writing skills through social justice, the organization has transformed more than 65,000 students into writers with voice, knowledge, and purpose. Inspired by two decades of listening to students tell their stories, Eric’s debut novel, TAUGHT, released in January 2026. In my book review, I stated Taught is a contemporary literary fiction that follows a teacher and a former student on a week-long journey. However, this journey is not something either one planned. Jerry Brown's life is a mess. He's likely to lose his job as a teacher. He and his wife are having issues. And Malik, a former student, is beat by police during a protest. He decides to go camping and write graduation letters to his students. But before he gets out of town, Malik shows up. So, they leave together. This is not a fast-paced story, but one where the back stories leak out slowly and deliberately. We see Jerry doubting himself as a teacher and husband. We see Malik doubt himself as a student and friend. Both doubt whether they can live up to the title of 'man'. And, as the reader, we feel the pain. Race plays a huge role in the story, allowing us to glimpse lives we might not otherwise experience - and allowing us to ask the hard questions. Is racism real? Is it everywhere? Do people experience a stop in a backwoods gas station differently depending on their skin? And, more importantly, what can - or should - we do about it? I definitely suggest this one for your TBR. Twelve Months, Twelve Lessons: What It Really Means to Live Love with Author Kim Sorrelle

2/10/2026
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Kim Sorrelle, author of the book Love Is. Kim Sorrelle is a writer, speaker, entrepreneur, and director of a humanitarian organization. She is the author of two books, "Cry Until You Laugh" which details her journey through cancer, and "Love Is" which chronicles her year-long experiment to discover the true meaning of love. Kim is passionate about people and loves to travel to new places and meet new faces. She has five children and eleven grandchildren whom she adores and believes will one day make a positive impact on the world. Kim is committed to living a life of love and is determined to make a difference in the lives of those around her. In my book review, I stated Love Is is a beautiful memoir exploring the concept of Christ-like love. She uses 1 Corinthians 13 as a guide and spends an entire year trying to love as Jesus would love. What a gift she's given all who read her words - a way to think about loving others that goes beyond words and hits squarely on actions. And not just any actions, but actions that truly depict love for another. Love is patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, does not dishonor others, is not self-seeking, is not easily angered, does not keep a record of wrongs, does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth, always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres - it never fails. Kim learned that such love isn't easy to live - even when your focus is on just one phrase. I loved how honest she was - sometimes that she believed it would be easy and was wrong, and often that she knew it would be hard and it was harder than she imagined. Without a doubt, this book has me thinking - and re-thinking - about love, how I show it to others, and how I can make changes to live more fully the love described in 1 Corinthians 13.
