Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. Included in this week's market update, a bit of interesting information on the somewhat odd interest rates we have right now. Buckle in because the first big topic for this week is insurance history. I say buckle in because that is probably the only way you're going to not want to leave. Fortunately, that leads us into something a bit closer to home, the fires in Los Angeles. We'd be very surprised if you hadn't heard something about the lack of insurance covering the L.A. fires. Hopefully, this will clear at least a little of it up. And if you've read many of my podcast summaries, you might come to the conclusion that listening to these on a weekly basis is one of the worst things I have to do (I'm joking), but luckily that was not the case this week. This episode was recorded on January 17th, 2025. If you would like to contact us, please send an email to us at Jeff@tpwc.com or Jake@tpwc.com. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. After Jeff and Jake open this first whole week of 2025's podcast with their typical market indicators, they go into a bit on oil prices and why we've seen an increase this week. The next big topic for the week is on employment numbers. Does the immigration of people into the U.S. help or hurt our employment numbers? Next up on the chopping block is the long-term changes currently happening in the American workforce. Changes such as the percentage of blue collar versus white collar workers and fluctuations in different industries such as service and professional. To finish us for this week, some words are said on how this expansion has some interesting differences. And lastly, Jake gets his crystal ball out and asks it about interest rates. Listen in to see what it says. This episode was recorded on January 10th, 2025. If you would like to contact us, please send an email to us at Jeff@tpwc.com or Jake@tpwc.com. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. It's here folks, the first podcast of 2025 and if you can figure out what in the world these two are talking about for the first minute and a half, or maybe the whole podcast, give yourself a pat on the back. While not at their best, but still better than I could do, Jeff and Jake give us the first week's market movement for 2025. For those of you who may have decided to start listening to the podcast this week, the general market indicator we track here is the Standard and Poor's 500 Index. However, the CRSP Mid Cap Value Index is something we like to note as it typically gives a better look at the market when the magnificent 6-7 aren't included. We also take a weekly look at U.S. Treasury yields and West Texas Intermediate crude oil. Now, if you continue listening, Jeff and Jake go on to talk about business and consumer confidence. There is some talk about the promised tariffs and what just the promise of having them from a President does. AI, microchips, and quantum processing are hot topics because progress might get halted by tariffs. The wrap up this week is on the narrowing wage gap and the new worker entering the workforce, machines. This episode was recorded on January 3rd, 2025. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. Jake is a little stumbly to start us out during our last podcast of 2024. As you may have guessed, we start this week's podcast out with an update on this week's three-and-a-half-day market. For some reason, the days between Christmas and New Year tend to have very little economic news to report on so, Jake goes on to do a bit of 2024 comparison between the U.S. and other parts of the world. As you've heard for the last many weeks, the U.S. is doing well but what do we need to look out for going into the future that could change that? Jake spends a bit of time talking about a large shift in manufacturing that is happening. To wrap up the final podcast of 2024, Jake decides to talk about homelessness. The good news, the bad news, and the news you probably haven't heard about. This episode was recorded on December 27th, 2024. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. Jeff and Jake eventually got around to filling us in on this week's less than favorable market changes. Then went on tell us about the Fed's rate decisions for this week and likely, the near future. After listening to lots of abbreviations, I started to wonder if maybe they should just start recording the entire podcast using the first letter of every word they wanted to use. It would still make about as much sense to me as it does now. Politically, a lot is happening right now and as you might be able to guess, Jeff and Jake go into it. House Bill 82 was an interesting topic. Does the windfall elimination provision or government pension offset affect you? Lastly, but not least, things to look out for and prepare to read some fine print. This episode was recorded on December 20th, 2024. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. This week, Jake has a few explanations to throw into the weekly market update, containing this week's S&P 500, CRSP Mid Cap Value, debt markets and crude oil movement. Jake goes on to say that higher inflation is up. Well darn. But why? Then, to pile on the not so good news, oil prices are up. My pocketbook just can't catch a break..... Jake's first big topic is on the pattern of income during different times of economic fluctuations, comparing lower income and higher income folks. Next, Jake heads across the ocean to the other side of the world. Germany, Russia, Chana, etc. aren't doing great, to say the least. What are the future tariffs that are, are Jake put it, very very very very very very........ likely to happen, going to do to those parts of the world that rely on exports to the U.S.? If you thought the bitcoin conversation from last week was over, you're very wrong. Jake received some feedback that he responds to. Bringing up those tulips again.... Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. Jake makes it through our weekly market update without a single overly long explanation or side story. How? Your guess is as good as mine. THEN! he continues on with a straightforward update on what happened in the economy this week. Maybe it was something I said? Anyhow, the big topic for the rest of this episode is on bitcoin. Naturally, Jake starts at the beginning..... Listen in to see how many rabbits' holes Jake makes it down. This episode was recorded on December 6th, 2024. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. After blowing right through our weekly market update, Jake goes off on probably the wildest tangent I've heard on this podcast as he adds a topic in the spur of the moment on oil and energy. Our first official topic is on personal income and prices. This is followed by a talk on real estate and mortgage rates. Then comes China. China is in a bad spot and it's not likely to get better tomorrow. What might that lead to? If history repeats itself, then it looks like we already know. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. As if it were a big surprise, this episode starts out with an update on your most loved market indicators. Jake helps explains the flat curve (???) of the interest yield curve. This explanation leads into a longer discussion about PMIs and tariffs. Once again there is talk about how well the U.S. is doing and the even more bleak outlook of other countries. On a side note, I've started planning my trip to the E.U. Jeff throws in a new term, leveraged ETF and lucky for me, Jake tells us what that is. (I wonder if maybe explaining what things are is how he gets a good night's sleep.) Lastly, watch out for scams. Yes! they happen. Happy Turkey Day!!!! Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. This week's S&P 500 Stock Index and CRSP US Mid Cap Value Index were not a thing of beauty as they have been most of this year, but as they say, it could have been worse. After our market updates, we start out with tariffs. While tariffs may be imposed on specific goods or countries, it's not the shipper that pays those tariffs. So, who does? There is quite a bit of talk about the differences or in some cases, lack of differences between presidential campaigns. One of our issues in the U.S. of A. is a large labor shortage. Obviously, we all need to go out and get a second or third or maybe even forth job. Then we wouldn't have to worry about those grocery prices. Jake boasts about looking at Federal balance sheets... sounds like fun. But, because of that there is a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel for the real estate market. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. Jake starts us out with our weekly dose of market updates. The main body of the podcast starts out with interest rates. How does the government control inflation by loaning people money? What does the policy goals of the president elect mean for future interest rates? Jake moves onto productivity. He points out that the U.S. is in the lead for productivity. I've had a few jobs that would beg to differ based on a few of my co-workers. Jake breaks out the tea leaves on what might happen in the government. The question is, were they green tea or black tea leaves? Lastly, Jake somehow ties in a portion of the podcast covering healthcare. This episode was recorded on November 8th, 2024. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. This week, Jeff hits the foam running, jumping right into the market update with only a short Squirrel!!! moment from Jake as he explains what a value and growth company are. Then, listen in as they explain why we're doing better than most the rest of the world, but not in every way. The two hurricanes that hit the Southeast portion of the U.S. have made things a little wonky. The Real Estate portion of the economy, but why? Lastly, Jake once again gives one piece of advice that doesn't have to be done on a fiduciary level. This episode was recorded on November 1st, 2024. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. And they're back! After an internet outage prevented them from recording a timely market update last week, they're roaring to get back at it. And by "it" I of course mean the typical bad puns they like to toss around all willy nilly. This week's market indicator updates were not all rainbows and unicorns. Listen in to discover why the U.S. is doing so well while other parts of the world aren't quite making par. Continue listening to hear about a bank failure that was a bit different than the ones we saw in 2023 and why it's important to remember that just because the Fed bailed banks out in the past, that doesn't mean they will always do that in the future. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. During the delve into this week's typical market movement, Jeff and Jake give us a bit of insight into just what some of the outstanding numbers the S&P 500 Index look like historically, and is worth a listen if you ask me. Have you ever wondered why the Fed like to see a 2% inflation rate? Why not 0% inflation, gee that sure sounds good to me. Well, the guys explain how a target of 0% inflation is a bad thing. I'm beginning to think maybe China is part of the podcast on a weekly basis because they are a good example of how not to do things. But this week, Germany joins the mix. Then, they begin talking about the viability of the economic policies both the presidential candidates are talking about. Lastly, the union strikes. Good for now, bad for later. my my my. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. In true optimistic fashion, these two "non-optimists" provide our weekly dose of market indicator updates then try and bait us all into going and listening to previous radio programs from 2021 and 2018. Yea, nice try Bucko. (But, just in case you want to, here's the link Radio Program). They go on to remind us that conflicts and choices made in other parts of the world may not involve us, but they do still affect us, sometimes in ways we don't even consider. If you make it to the end, you'll hear more on why the guys think China's problems likely won't be fixed despite their current attempts to do so. Oh, and how's your toilet paper supply? Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. Jake has something he just has to get off his chest. After his recent trip to Denmark, where his kids spent some time literally making money, he felt the need to compare buying a house in the year 1000 for a dollar today. Listen in as Jake explains some of the difficulties with comparing precious metal values from years far beyond when monetary values and records were kept with values today. By the end, I bet you might even be saying, "wow, regulation might actually be a good thing." This episode was recorded on September 20th, 2024. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. After having to listen to Jake ramble a bit about this episode, Jeff comes out swinging with this week's market update. I can't decide whether the S&P 500 Index reaching new heights, or the Treasury yield curve news is more exciting. Although, the prospect of fuel prices going down more is also not terrible news. Then, hold on to your hats, they start talking about politics......everyone's favorite past time. I'm sure by the time everyone has finished listing to this portion of the podcast, our listenership will decrease by at least half. Thanks a lot, guys. Listen closely because Jake gives everyone a piece of trivia that will impress everyone around you in the right circumstances, so basically when you're all alone. Finally, Jeff and Jake end on a talk about what the People's Republic of China is doing to try and curb falling prices and deflation. This episode was recorded on September 27th, 2024. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. This week starts out similarly to others, with an update on the movements made by the S&P 500 Index and CRSP US Mid Cap Value Index. Jeff gives us a brief note on irrational exuberance followed by a mention that other parts of the economy may be "sane." Maybe he's comparing it to himself..... Then comes the good stuff, interest rates. The majority of this week's economic writings across the interwebs were focused on the Federal Reserve Board's rate change. Jake explains overnight loans made by the Federal Reserve and why lowering rates made rates go up.... oh brother. Jeff gets to tell us about a publishing by Mario Draghi. For those of you that may not know who that is, don't worry, I didn't either. This episode was recorded on September 20th, 2024. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. Jeff and Jake keep it short and simple when updating us on the usual market indicators we follow. Apparently, the indicators were not afraid to come out and play during a week that ended on a Friday the 13th! The guys go on to speak on some of the reasons inflation... inflated during Covid and is still annoying all of us today. There is some talk about China and I got to wondering, when is the last podcast that didn't mention China? Someone go ahead and spend your free time finding that out. I'll wait. Jake goes on to give us some information about the S&P 500 Index. Turns out, the companies represented in the index change? Who could have known. This episode was recorded on September 13th, 2024. Welcome to another exciting episode of The Personal Wealth Coach Podcast with your hosts, Jeff and Jake McClure. Jeff and Jake seemed a teensy bit out of sync for this one. I'll blame it on the 4-day work week. Friday probably came too early for them. They do manage to update us on our preferred market indicators. Listen in to hear their thoughts on how the U.S. is doing compared to other countries such as China and Russia. They also chime in on AI and how it's affecting us even now, in the earlyish stages. Something they've mentioned many times in the recent past. This episode was recorded on September 6th, 2024.
