Ep. 223 – What’s Science? Vol. 10 featuring “Ghost Chasers – Heidelberg”

3/17/2024
Mortality Month continues. After visiting the haunted happenings in Christopher’s birthplace, it’s time to rustle up some spirits in the Medieval German town in which Eric Shaw Quinn took his first breath — and barked out his first highly detailed tea order. Welcome to Heidelberg, Germany. Here your hosts are introduced to a band of high-strung ghost chasers for whom every breeze, shadow, snapping twig or leafless tree is the stuff of a complex and frightening supernatural narrative for which they present not a single shred of compelling evidence. In this episode of GHOST CHASERS, entitled “Heidelberg”, Eric decides the secret gay romance he’s dreamed up between two of the handsome ghost hunters is a far more interesting avenue of exploration than the team psychic’s ceaseless and absurd proclamations. It’s his birthday, so we’ll let him roll with it. Word to the wise — if you watch the episode on Tubi, it’s actually episode 6, not episode 7. Be advised we don’t recommend watching either.

Ep. 222 – What’s Science? Vol. 9 featuring “The Haunted Bay – Episodes 1 and 2”

3/10/2024
Christopher likes to say he’s a man with two hometowns, and the City by The Bay is the first of the two. That’s why Eric suggested they serve up this special about Bay Area hauntings. Or was it Christopher who suggested it? One thing’s clear, after watching episodes 1 and 2 of THE HAUNTED BAY, neither host wants to take blame for bringing it to the table. Despite the profoundly amateurish filmmaking and incomprehensible interviews, these two episodes of — we’re not sure what to call it, exactly — left your hosts tackling some hard hitting questions. Can ghosts fry camera batteries? Was a nightclub employee who was crushed to death by a prop piano during an act of lovemaking the victim of a grisly accident or murder? You know, the important stuff that keeps everyone up at night.

Ep. 221 – What’s Science? Vol. 8 featuring “Haunted USA – New Orleans”

3/3/2024
It’s Christopher and Eric’s birthday month. And what have these dark lords of the podcastverse unleashed at this time of celebration and reflection? Mortality Month, of course. In part thanks to you. Our beloved Party People asked us to take a break from grisly murders and return to the world of the paranormal (and it’s “occasional” fraudsters and cranks.) To give it a birthday theme, your hosts cut a path through the states they’ve called home, starting with the boot-shaped one at the mouth of the muddy Mississip. Follow along as they serve up episode 1 of season 1 of HAUNTED USA, entitled “New Orleans”. In the City That Care Forgot, Christopher and Eric face off with rampaging spirits (and tourists), night vision cameras and haunted houses where everyone seems a little too eager to make a quick buck.

Ep. 220 – Clark Williams Discusses The Murder of Tracy Nute

2/25/2024
Clark Williams, our fellow citizen detective at TDPS, returns to round out Citizen Detective Month with another stunning interview, this one focused on a murder that struck close to home for your hosts. In August of 1987 the mutilated remains of eighteen-year-old runaway Tracy Nute were found scattered along Interstate 5 between Los Angeles and Fresno. Meanwhile, an appliance rental company in West Hollywood discovered someone had returned a chainsaw that was flecked with bits of blood and human bone. Were these two horrifying incidents the work of a serial killer preying on young queer men long before Jeffrey Dahmer made headlines for his hideous crimes? With Clark on the case, we’re hopeful we’ll have answers soon as he applies the Clark Williams Method to another baffling case.

Ep. 219 – Clark Williams Discusses The Murders of Mary Alice Hedglen Ellicott and Talfrieda Covington

2/18/2024
It wouldn’t be Citizen Detective Month at TDPS if Christopher and Eric didn’t include their very own fellow citizen detective, Clark Williams, the brilliant and determined amateur sleuth who solved the murder of Billy Newton after thirty years. Clark joins the podcast in our Sunset Strip studios to discuss the cold case murders he’s been working on since finding justice for Billy. Who abandoned Alice Ellicot’s corpse in a Midwestern field? Who ended Talfrieda Covington’s life steps from the front door of her own home? We’re hopeful Clark’s work with local authorities brings justice for these nearly forgotten victims as well.

2/11/2024
Citizen Detective Month continues with a decades old mystery that will set your teeth on edge and bring your blood to a boil. In this True Crime TV Club installment, Christopher and Eric serve up episode 7 of season 3 of DEADLINE: CRIME WITH TAMRON HALL entitled “Never Stop Looking”, the tale of Ruth Vosseler’s search for her missing children. When her marriage hit the rocks, Ruth assumed she and her husband would reach an amicable, if difficult, parting. Then one day he and their two children never returned from a weekend away visiting relatives, relatives who soon confessed her husband and the children had never showed up there either. The resulting saga includes false starts, an FBI manhunt and an unflinching look into the many ways the system failed this crusading and determined mother as she became her own investigator in the search for her missing children.

2/4/2024
Welcome to Malibu, home to surf, celebrities and a murderous sniper who became a political football in a hotly contested election for Los Angeles County Sheriff. Christopher and Eric kick off Citizen Detective Month with this twisty exploration of a case that captivated LA County and the nation. Is amateur journalist and Malibu resident CeCe Woods a crusader for justice or an overwrought conspiracy theorist who allowed herself to be used by ambitious politicians? Find out in this installment of True Crime TV Club as your hosts serve up episode 2 of season 1 of the show CITIZEN P.I. entitled “Malibu Sniper.”

Ep. 216 – Christopher & Eric’s True Crime TV Club Serves Up “Home Sweet Homicide: Footsteps In The Snow”

1/28/2024
"If you've got a criminal record in both Florida and Jersey, you're automatically guilty," is the line that emerges loudest from your hosts in this new installment of True Crime TV Club’s Winter Times Crime finale. Here the victim is only spoken for by one friend, who didn't seem to know her very well, and the footprints leading into the victim's house don't seem to come out again. In episode 1, season 1 of HOME SWEET HOMICIDE entitled "Footprints In The Snow", the Northeast shows its most frigid colors in a tale of young love gone bad. But Eric senses some holes in the story he's eager to fill.

Ep. 215 – Christopher & Eric’s True Crime TV Club Serves Up “Ice Cold Killers: Open Season”

1/21/2024
Can a hunting accident happen behind the wheel of a car? Can a stray bullet travel over a mile? Can a cold blooded killer be quite this transparent and stupid? These are the Winter Time Crime questions Christopher and Eric want answers to as they serve up episode 5, season 6 of ICE COLD KILLERS entitled "Open Season". On a freeze night in a small Missouri town, the killing of a local outdoorsman leaves the community baffled — until the killer starts advertising their guilt in bright red neon.

Ep 214 – Christopher & Eric’s True Crime TV Club Serves Up “An Unknown Compelling Force”

1/14/2024
Christopher and Eric serve up one of the most infamous, unsolved mysteries of all time, the Dyatlov Pass Incident, as Winter Time Crime continues with a tale of the collision of Cold War secrecy and Russia's brutal wintry landscape — a tale that produced decades of paranormal conspiracy mongering. Apparently winter wasn't the harshest thing awaiting this group of experienced young Russian hikers when they set out into the Ural Mountains in 1959. While the documentary AN UNKNOWN COMPELLING FORCE might have its flaws, it gives a thorough crash course in this baffling story — not so baffling to Eric, however, who offers up an explanation as simple as it is compelling.

Ep 213 – Christopher & Eric’s True Crime TV Club Serves Up “Dead Of Winter: The Killing Field”

1/7/2024
Winter Time Crime begins with this twisted, frigid tale of random shootings, terrifyingly loyal girlfriends and vindictive parents. Was Sean Cerniglia a sweet humorous teen or a criminal enabler? The jury's still out as family, friends and local law enforcement deliver the disturbing details of his untimely end in season 2, episode 5 of DEAD OF WINTER entitled "The Killing Field". Christopher and Eric have plenty to say about the sluggish initial response from law enforcement and the petty asides of the parents involved. Dead of winter and cold as ice is the order of menu.

Ep. 212 – The Best of 2023

12/31/2023
Come now, you didn't think two bitches as opinionated as Christopher and Eric wouldn't do a Best Of episode, did you? Well, you might be surprised to hear they're keeping the list positive. Christopher and Eric offer up their best TV shows for 2023 and surprisingly almost none of them are the true crime documentaries they podcast about on a regular basis. Perhaps that's a sign, or perhaps yet another example of how in order to gain their attention your show must have a hero both handsome and British. Couldn’t hurt, right?

Ep. 211 – All I Want For Christmas Again

12/24/2023
What do you want for Christmas this year? Unless it was "for Christopher and Eric to shut up and stop making podcasts", your hosts served up your responses to our Facebook query. While they don't have an in with Santa — not since they accused him of extortion in a previous episode, what with that whole "naughty or nice" racket — they loved hearing about your hoped for gifts, large and small. Spiritual and shiny. Handsome and hot. Henry Cavill and otherwise.

What would a buffet of Heartland Horrors be without a trip to the Deep South? The South Carolina Low County that is, where miles of backroads lead to swampy mysteries, mysteries from which some of us don't return. In season 5, episode 2 of MURDER COMES TO TOWN entitled "No Witnesses", Christopher and Eric meet a bright and promising young woman who vanished without a trace while giving a friend a late night ride home. The resulting trip rocked the small town of Moncks Corner to its core, put the young woman's loved ones through hell and unveiled villains as pathetic as they were diabolical.

Ep. 207 – Christopher & Eric’s True Crime TV Club Serves Up “Hometown Homicide: Unsafe Anywhere”

11/26/2023
This episode of Heartland Horrors Month surprises Christopher and Eric with a 1990's serial killing spree that found gay men being targeted in one of the Midwest's most progressive cities, a story that somehow managed to escape the notice of your queer-savvy hosts until now. In season 2, episode 6 of HOMETOWN HOMICIDE entitled "Unsafe Anywhere", we head to Minneapolis/St. Paul where a vicious, self-loathing killer stalks the gay men who've sought sanctuary in its more accepting neighborhoods. But a responsive police force — with some help from an undercover gay detective — put a stop to the murders before they could exact an even more terrible toll. Still, why are many of us just learning of this story now? Was it swallowed up by the nightmarish murder spree and arrest of a more famous Midwestern slayer of queer men?

11/19/2023
Heartland Horrors Month continues as Christopher and Eric give the coast-hugging, city dwellers among us several good reasons not to leave their urban idylls. And season 5, episode 1 of HOMICIDE FOR THE HOLIDAYS — never a show for the faint of heart — just might take the cake for most gruesome episode in TDPS history. In "The Last Thanksgiving", your hosts are confronted by a crime that is shocking in both its grotesqueness and its competent incompetence, leaving them with stunned questions about the motivations at play, motivations that seem to lie just outside the reach of this hour of television they watched with jaws on the floor and sick bags within reach. Happy Thanksgiving it isn't. Sorry. Or, you’re welcome.

Leave it to Christopher and Eric to come up with reasons *not* to go home for the holidays. That's apparently the objective of Heartland Horrors Month here at TDPS, starting with this twisted tale of double lives and chatty wives. In season 1, episode 6 of MURDER IN THE HEARTLAND entitled, "A Deceitful Heart", we head to a Detroit suburb where everyone's desperate to tell you what a quaint and wholesome town they live in while simultaneously recounting a disturbing tale of addiction, murder and (incompetent) deceit. 11/5/2023
In the second episode in a two parter serving up the landmark HBO documentary series LAST CALL: WHEN A SERIAL KILLER STALKED QUEER NEW YORK, Christopher and Eric are left breathless. The reveals come fast and furious throughout as the conclusion comes into focus in this moving exploration of a serial killer who used homophobia to thrive. Forensic science advances. A killer is unmasked. Heroes and advocates step forward to bring long overdue justice to an investigation marked by bigotry and dismissal. It's a deeply upsetting and satisfying conclusion to a confounding story. And for your hosts, LAST CALL makes for a painfully nostalgic tour through a challenging and not too distant period in gay history. But it's also the story of the persistence and dedication required to bring justice when the justice system spent years refusing to see the victims as fully human. (We're looking at you, NYPD.)
