This week Ryan Seven returns with some intriguing new research regarding Plato’s story of Atlantis. What did the Old Master encode within his legendary narrative? These dialogues were written around 360 BCE. Plato crafted these dialogues as a festival speech to be delivered during the Panathenaea, in honour of the goddess Athena. In the dialogues, Socrates asks three men to share stories about ancient Athens and its interactions with other states. Critias, one of these men, recounts a tale passed down from his grandfather, who had met the Athenian poet and lawgiver Solon during his travels to Egypt. According to the Egyptians (as relayed by Solon), there once existed a mighty empire called Atlantis. It was situated on an island in the Atlantic Ocean and ruled over other islands and parts of Africa and Europe. The city of Atlantis was meticulously designed, with concentric rings of alternating water and land. It boasted rich soil, advanced engineering, extravagant architecture, and organised military and civil administration. Their rituals paralleled those of Athens, including bull-baiting, sacrifice, and prayer. However, Atlantis became imperialistic and waged an unprovoked war against the rest of Asia and Europe. In this conflict, the much smaller city-state of Athens stood as the sole defender against the invading Atlantean forces. Against all odds, Athens triumphed, defeating Atlantis and preventing enslavement. After the battle, violent earthquakes and floods struck, causing Atlantis to sink into the sea. All the Athenian warriors were swallowed up by the earth. In Ancient Greece, psychedelic mushrooms played a significant role in religious and spiritual practices. The Eleusinian Mysteries were celebrated in honour of the goddess Demeter and her daughter Persephone. These mysteries were regarded as the most sacred of all the rituals in Ancient Greek religion. Ancient pottery and paintings depict Persephone and Demeter holding mushrooms. These depictions suggest that the use of psychedelic mushrooms was well-known during ancient Greek times. While the exact details of the Eleusinian Mysteries remain shrouded in secrecy, it is clear that psychedelics played a crucial role in these sacred rituals. Plato, the renowned ancient Greek philosopher, was indeed initiated into the Greater Mysteries. This initiation occurred when he was 49 years old, and it took place in one of the subterranean halls of the Great Pyramid in Egypt. Plato himself acknowledged the significance of these mysteries. Nubs: The ‘nub’ phenomena is a term used to describe the protruding knobs or bumps that are found on many ancient stone blocks and structures around the world. Some researchers have suggested that these nubs were used for various purposes, such as lifting, aligning, or locking the stones together. Others have argued that they are simply the remnants of the stone-cutting process, or that they have no functional significance at all. One of the most intriguing aspects of the nub phenomena is that it appears across different cultures and continents, from Egypt to Peru, from Turkey to Cambodia. This has led some to speculate that there was a common source of knowledge or influence behind these ancient civilizations, or that they were somehow connected by a 'stone language’. The nub phenomena remains a mystery to this day. Baalbek: According to the web search results, the heaviest carved stone in the world is a manmade block that was found in a limestone quarry in Baalbek, Lebanon. It measures 64 feet by 19.6 feet by 18 feet, and weighs an estimated 1,650 tons. It is believed to date back to around 27 BC, when Baalbek was a Roman outpost called Heliopolis. The block was probably intended for use in a nearby temple for the god Jupiter, but it was never used, likely because it was too big to transport. It is the largest boulder known from antiquity. Sacsayhuaman: The walls of Sacsayhuaman are very impressive and puzzling. Some people have suggested that the Inca had some advanced knowledge or technology that allowed them to carve and fit the stones so precisely. Others have proposed that the walls were built by an older and more advanced civilization, such as the Atlanteans or aliens. However, most archaeologists and historians believe that the Inca were capable of creating the walls with their own skills and tools. This week we are joined by archaeologist, historian and author, Mark Olly. Mark has researched and written many books over the years, often concentrating on some of our favourite alt-history subjects. In this show we will be focussing on The Knights Templar...origins, beliefs and legacy. How far do the Templars really go back? What were they up to? Are any of them still around today? Please check out Mark’s books, available on Amazon From the web.. The Knights Templar were a medieval military order that fought in the Crusades and became very influential and wealthy. They were suppressed by the French king and the pope in the early 14th century and accused of heresy and other crimes. Since then, they have been the subject of many legends, myths, and conspiracy theories. Some of the most popular esoteric theories surrounding the Knights Templar are: They discovered treasure and secret knowledge while digging beneath the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, where they were based for many years. Some of the alleged items they found include the Holy Grail, the Ark of the Covenant, and parts of the True Cross. They were part of a secret society called the Priory of Sion, which claimed to guard the bloodline of Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene. According to this theory, the Templars knew that Jesus and Mary were married and had children, and that their descendants were the rightful rulers of Europe. They cursed the French king and the pope who ordered their arrest and execution, and caused their downfall and the end of their dynasties. The last Grand Master of the Templars, Jacques de Molay, is said to have invoked God’s wrath on his enemies as he was burned at the stake in Paris in 1314. They survived their persecution and went underground, forming new branches and orders in different countries. Some of the groups that claim to be the successors or heirs of the Templars include the Freemasons, the Rosicrucians, and the Illuminati. In this episode we hope to hear about the nexus of Crowley, Jack Parsons and the founder of Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard. What links these characters? How may they have used occult practices in an attempt to open interdimensional portals? Why are NASA implicated? Let's find out! From the web.. Jack Parsons was one of the founders of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), which later became part of NASA. He was also a pioneer in the development of liquid-fuel and solid-fuel rockets. Parsons was a devout Thelemite, a new religious movement founded by Aleister Crowley, who was a British mystic and occultist. Parsons joined the Agape Lodge, the Californian branch of Crowley’s Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.), and became its leader in 1942. Parsons performed various rituals and experiments based on Crowley’s teachings, including the Babalon Working, a series of ceremonies intended to invoke the Thelemic goddess Babalon on Earth. He conducted these rituals with the help of L. Ron Hubbard, who later founded Scientology. Parsons had a turbulent relationship with Hubbard, who had an affair with Parsons’ girlfriend Sara Northrup. Hubbard and Northrup also defrauded Parsons of his life savings, which led to Parsons resigning from the O.T.O. and suing Hubbard. Parsons died in 1952 in a mysterious explosion at his home laboratory, which some speculated was caused by sabotage, suicide, or a magical mishap. His death was widely covered by the media, which portrayed him as a mad scientist and a black magician. These are some of the main links between Aleister Crowley, L. Saturnalia: Saturnalia was an ancient Roman festival that honoured the god of agriculture, Saturn. It was celebrated from December 17 to 23, near the winter solstice. During this time, many social norms were reversed, such as slaves being served by their masters, and people wearing colourful clothes instead of togas. Saturnalia also involved feasting, gambling, singing, gift-giving, and decorating homes with greenery12. Some of these traditions were later adopted by early Christians, who celebrated the birth of Jesus on December 25, the date of the winter solstice on the Julian calendar. For example, the custom of giving candles as gifts may have influenced the use of candles in Christmas decorations, and the practice of hanging wreaths may have originated from the laurel wreaths worn by Saturnalia revellers. Christmas Trees: According to some sources, the Christmas tree tradition as we know it started in Germany in the 16th century, when devout Christians brought decorated trees into their homes1. Some of these trees were made of wood and had candles and evergreens on them. The evergreens symbolized the victory of life and light over death and darkness, a theme that was also present in ancient pagan winter solstice celebrations. Santa Claus: Saint Nicholas was a 4th-century saint who was known for his generosity and kindness to the poor and children. He is the patron saint of sailors, merchants, and children. He was celebrated on December 6, his feast day, by giving gifts and helping the needy. Another possible influence on Santa Claus is the Norse god Odin, who was the ruler of Asgard and the father of the gods. Odin was often depicted as an old man with a long, white beard, who rode a flying horse called Sleipnir, which had eight legs. Odin was also associated with the winter solstice, when he led a hunting party through the skies. During this time, children would leave their boots near the chimney, filled with carrots or straw for Sleipnir, and Odin would reward them with gifts. A more controversial theory suggests that Santa Claus is also linked to the shamanic traditions of the Siberian and Arctic regions, where the sacred psychedelic source was the red and white amanita muscaria mushroom, also known as “fly agaric”. This mushroom grows in pine and birch woods, and has hallucinogenic effects when consumed. Some scholars claim that the shamans would collect these mushrooms and distribute them as gifts to the locals in late December, entering their homes through the smoke hole.
