TPPP 127: Eastern State Penitentiary | The Prison with a Shawshank, a Hole, Some Quakers, and a Whole Lot of Nope

10/24/2023
The prison so nice, they names it Eastern. Well, actually, it's not nice at all. It's terrifying. Even Al Capone found this place to be immensely scary. and now we all get to learn about just what made it scary as Hell to even him. And maybe be a little freaked out ourselves with everything that could possibly happen to a person stuck in forever solitary confinement. Listen to Davis get incredibly scared about the possibility of being completely alone in a cell for doing very little. Listen to Jake as he tells us about some of the scariest encounters that people have experienced even while on film. And listen to Lisa give us some of the most gruesome "reform" techniques taken by a prison up to this point. Don't get locked in. And if you do, don't forget your Rita Hayworth poster and your best friend, Andy Dufresne. That's the only way you're getting out of this prison. But audibly, you will be stuck here with the rest of us for the 127th episode of The Possibly Paranormal Podcast. TPPP 127: Eastern State Penitentiary. Support the show

10/17/2023
That's right, this is only our second face-to-face episode of The Possibly Paranormal Podcast, but it's from the same place we were in before. Utepils, the brewery named after the Norwegian word for the first beer you have after a long winter. And this episode hits the same as that beer. So, we also hit up a scary location in this episode. We venture to England for one of the most haunted pubs in the world, known as the Golden Fleece. They have skeletons, non-paying customers, non-paying customers that are also ghosts, and a whole slew of stories. On top of that, Jake, Davis, and Lisa try their hand at a few stories themselves. Davis hits us up with some stories about The Wendigo and a scarecrow named Harold. Lisa tells us about The Golden Fleece in Covid times and the origins of Halloween. And Jake tries his hand at what we know to be one of the scariest paranormal entities in the world, Black Eyed Kids. Well, we've seen it in Stranger Things on Netflix, but did you know that it's a real thing? Well, now you do! Hellfire Club, also known as Montpelier Hill in Ireland is a real place. Filled with some pretty crappy rich people that did some pretty messed up things. You know? One second thought, I think we'll stick with just the one in Stranger Things. We can't? Welp, here we go! Listen to Lisa as she gives us a whole breakdown of the things that these very bored rich people did, most of it being pretty satanic. Listen to Davis quiz us on the difference between a devil, a demon, and just a random Latin person. And Jake brings us home with the stories of possession, black cats, and cloven hooves. You know, the devil things. So, get your holy water ready as we head into the Halloween month with our second episode of this spooktacular time. Pour a little out this week for our soundboard, for we will only see it from here on out if it becomes a ghost or some other paranormal entity. Because of that, it's time for us to go through some of our favorite and scarier moments of the podcast. Lisa takes us back to he history all about the Manchac Swamp, one of the scarier stories she ever told. It involves bridges and the swamp itself. Not normally does Davis ever squirm during the history section, but this one got all of us to feel uncomfortable. Davis brings us back to the singing days when he did the whole thing for the Akershus Fortress and the musical introduction to Norway. If the singing scares you, then this part counts as scary. If it doesn't then you will get a nice relief before we get into the scary stories. And Jake tells two of his scariest stories from the past year. Starting with Daksa Island and ending with Bhangar Fort. Each story scarier than the last and sure to make your July feel a little more like October. Complete with music and everything.
