"I also often hear people say that the deck is stacked against them because of racism, sexism, or other oppressive 'isms.' But once you let go of the blame and excuses, you'll see that you can alter your position on your own."
The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward.
~ Amelia Earhart
Stay true to yourself, yet always be open to learn. Work hard, and never give up on your dreams, even when nobody else believes they can come true but you. These are not cliches but real tools you need no matter what you do in life to stay focused on your path.
Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have.
Life is the dancer and you are the dance.
Where there is anger, there is always pain underneath.
Whatever you think the world is withholding from you, you are withholding from the world.
Being spiritual has nothing to do with what you believe and everything to do with your state of consciousness.
What a liberation to realize that the “voice in my head” is not who I am. Who am I then? The one who sees that.
It's been a minute. This is year is going by so fast. We'll be covering more topics, theories, and other random stuff so feel free to listen to me rant about all that is, was, and shouldn't be. I do music, video, and media as part time jobs aside from my job job. twitter.com/iminimas
This past week, three other producers and I banded together and took part in sample challenge. The parameters included all of us taking the exact same sample and producing a finished song all within 24 hours. At the end of it, we all had different versions of the original sample. The video is on my Youtube channel but here is an audio JDOC.
First podcast of 2019. Resolutions, goals, and growing up in a social media world means the correction to make sure our well being is good is ten times harder than the last generation. New year new me is nothing without a new mind.
The saying keep your friends close but your enemies closer works both ways. You're only as good as the company you keep. Not because of who they are but the direct access of influence they have. Surround yourself with like minded people but your inner circle should only be reserved for a select few. Who or what keeps you afloat? @iminimas
I quit. One of the biggest mistakes I've made yet. Those you surround yourself with are so important. This is a short sound bite ripped from a video I recorded right before I graduated college. It's been a long journey just to be able to share these kinds of things.
If you've never attended film school then chances are you don't know the story behind C-47s. If you went to film school, you now call clothes pins C-47s. Industry Standards. I realized if I'm taking the risk of starting from scratch and building a brand out of nothing as a broke independent artist then I have nothing to loose in building a business strategy using a process that may not be "right" 2019 will be the year to test these theories just because I can.
Know yourself like back of your head. We all have something about ourselves that's a little uncomfortable to look at. I let years of hypothetical scenarios hinder my relationships with family before circumstances allowed me to forget those scenarios for the sake of growth.
Been MIA for a while working on music and researching a bunch of things so that I could come back with more stuff I've learned along the way. Christmas is coming up and we're heading into 2019 which means it's a New Year. Starting off with a bang is cool but finishing out with a bang is better.
It's completely understandable when there aren't many opportunities for what you want to do where you're at. Why not make them instead? I don't live anywhere near majority of my creative team and yet they've helped me lay the ground work for a huge visual project in only a few months.
How I adopted the Peter Pan perception of growing up. This is part one of two. This episode is my perspective and personal experience. Part two will be a deeper look at how society perceives culture and the universal ideology behind it as a whole. twitter.com/iminimas
Ten Locks : Nine Keys is a storytelling podcast featuring stories from real people attempting to unlock the mysteries of the human experience. October is here. Halloween is near. Decided to sprinkle my audio storytelling podcast, Ten Locks Nine Keys, into my JRants feed since I'll only be making them once every three months or so. I love this storytelling format but they take a really long time to produce. This is the first one I made a while back. Also, I'd rather not pay for two hosting...
