How Experts Treat Peripheral T- and NK-cell Lymphomas

4/3/2026
Get up to date with the latest ESMO-EHA guideline for Peripheral T- and natural killer-cell lymphomas (Peripheral T‐ and natural killer‐cell lymphomas: ESMO‐EHA Clinical Practice Guideline for diagnosis, treatment, and follow‐up - d'Amore - 2025 - HemaSphere - Wiley Online Library) Prof Francesco D'Amore (Aarhus University, Denmark) and Prof Massimo Federico (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy). In this episode, two key authors of the guidelines walk us through the recommendations for these rare, biologically diverse, and often aggressive- peripheral T cell and NK cell lymphomas. Our guests explain the conscious effort of the guidelines panel to provide evidence based detailed recommendations for each subtype of PTCLs to improve diagnosis, treatment, and follow up. The emphasis is on moving away from “one size fits all” DLBCL style approach toward entity- adapted strategies. Throughout the conversation, they stress the need to read the full guideline – including the supplementary material – and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach by experienced hematopathologists, ideally in expert or reference centres to give patients the best chance of appropriate, modern therapy. How Does Climate Change Affect Hematology Practice? (with Dr Stephen Hibbs)

1/16/2026
[This is a Rerelease. Episode first published on November 1, 2024.] Join us for an engaging episode with Dr. Stephen Hibbs from Queen Mary University of London as he discusses the environmental impacts of hematology. Alongside our host Dr. Sarah de Vlieger, they explore how climate change is already affecting hematology, emphasizing that these effects are being felt now rather than in the future. The conversation highlights how climate change alters aspects of hematology practice, such as the risk of transfusion-transmitted infections due to evolving disease vectors. Dr. Hibbs describes also the surprising link between extreme heat during pregnancy and an increased risk of children developing ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia). He further discusses practice-changing initiatives, like using sevoflurane instead of desflurane as an anesthetic to reduce environmental impact, and explains his work on improving the logistics of blood transfusions to lessen their ecological footprint. Finally, Dr. Hibbs encourages hematologists to focus on actionable steps to minimize their environmental impact, advocating for practical changes in clinical practices and increased awareness of the healthcare sector's contribution to global emissions.
