Have you ever wondered why the New Testament connects Jesus to the Passover? In 1 Corinthians 5:7, the apostle Paul writes some very interesting words that most believers gloss over: “Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.” Why did Paul link Jesus directly to Passover? Well, to understand this, we have to go back to one of the powerful moments in the Bible, the Passover in the Book of Exodus. Now, many of us as believers may have heard something about Passover but aren’t very familiar with it. You make think, “Well, Passover isn’t important to me. Isn’t it just a Jewish a celebration?” Many of us have also never even considered it to be connected to Jesus, but it is! Passover is so much more than we realize. And yes, it’s for Christians too! Today we’ll answer the following questions: What exactly is Passover? Does it really matter to believers today? And how does Passover connect us to Jesus? Together we’ll learn the deeper meaning of Passover and how Jesus, Yeshua our Messiah and Savior is at the center of it all!

Why this conversation matters: Today, when someone says they support Israel, many are often labeled a “Zionist.” Sometimes that word is used positively. Other times it is used as an insult or accusation. Some also say things like: “I’m not antisemitic or anti-Israel; I’m just anti-Zionist.” But if you stop and ask what many mean by that, some struggle to even explain it. The word "Zionism” for many has become so emotionally charged, political, and confusing especially in light of the Middle East conflict between Israel and Hamas. Because of this, many Christians feel unsure about how they should think about it. Is it good or bad? If believers don’t bless Israel, will they really be cursed? In light of all the controversy surrounding Israel today, people from every background, secular and Christian are weighing in. And when many Christians are asked why they choose to support Israel today, their answer is simple: “Because the Bible says that those who bless Israel will be blessed, and those who curse Israel will be cursed” (Genesis 12:3). But not everyone agrees with that line of thinking. Many of our Christian brothers and sisters quickly push back and say, “That promise was only for Abraham. Not Israel. You’re taking that out of context! That doesn’t apply to the nation of Israel today.” Others add, “Well, that was Old Testament.” Or, “Blessing Israel doesn’t mean you have to support the modern Israeli government.” And then come the stronger objections like, “We don’t support Israel because: “Most Jews reject Jesus.” “Not all Israel is Israel” (Romans 9:6). “The Jews killed Jesus.” “The Book of Revelation Israel a synagogue of Satan” (Revelation 2:9; 3:9). “Why should we bless people who don’t believe in Christ?” These are serious statements. And they deserve serious, careful, biblical answers. If you are someone who prays for Israel or stands with her, you have likely heard these objections. So let’s look at what the Bible actually says, no politics, no opinions just the Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16).
