S2 Ep. 154 Do not Regret It!

11/21/2023
How would you feel 50 years from now if you didn't take that step towards doing that thing which you have been nursing, but because of fear, you abandoned it? It will be a life full of regrets at the end of the day. Is there a way to manage regrets to optimize one's time here? Making those decisions based on faith, and not fear, willing to take that risk which appears to be crazy but exposes one to living. The idea generally revolves around making decisions that align with one's values, goals, and long-term well-being to minimize the likelihood of experiencing regret later on. Some principles and strategies that people might use for regret management include: 1. Reflective Decision-Making: Reflecting on potential choices and considering their long-term implications can help individuals make decisions more likely to align with their values and goals. 2. Clarifying Values: Understanding personal values and priorities can guide decision-making in a way that minimizes the chances of regret. Making choices that align with one's core values often leads to a greater sense of fulfillment. 3. Balancing Risks and Rewards: Evaluating the potential risks and rewards associated with a decision can help individuals make more informed choices. Considering both short-term and long-term consequences is crucial. 4. Acceptance of Uncertainty: Recognizing that uncertainty is a natural part of life and that not all outcomes can be predicted or controlled may help individuals cope with the possibility of regret. 5. Learning from Experience: Viewing regrets as opportunities for learning and personal growth can be a positive way to cope with them. Understanding why a decision leads to regret can inform future choices. Developments or new frameworks have been introduced since my last update in January 2022. Suppose there is a specific regret management framework you are referring to, and it has emerged or gained prominence after that date. In that case, check the latest literature or authoritative sources for the most up-to-date information. S2 Ep. 153 Our thoughts and our thinking

11/14/2023
."Thoughts" and "thinking" are fundamental aspects of human cognition and consciousness. These terms are often used interchangeably but can have distinct meanings in specific contexts. Thoughts: Thoughts refer to the mental processes or products of the mind that involve the activation and manipulation of information. These can take various forms, including ideas, beliefs, memories, images, etc. Thoughts are the building blocks of cognition and are integral to how humans make sense of the world, solve problems, and make decisions. Thinking: Thinking is the broader cognitive process encompassing various mental activities in forming thoughts. It includes reasoning, problem-solving, decision-making, and creative imagination. Thinking is not limited to conscious processes; much of it occurs subconsciously. Key Points: Multifaceted Nature:Conscious and Subconscious:Influence of Emotions:Language and Symbolic Representation:Metacognition:Neurological Basis:Cultural and Social Influences:Understanding thoughts and thinking is crucial for psychology, cognitive science, philosophy, and neuroscience. It involves exploring the intricate connections between the mind, brain, and external environment. Additionally, the study of thoughts and thinking contributes to our understanding of human behavior, decision-making, and the nature of consciousness. I share some thoughts from my interactions and relationships for this show episode. The power of thoughts undeniably cannot be relegated to the background. If we must achieve success in whatever we focus on, embracing thoughts is vital, and taking it from that thought level into the thinking level. S2 Ep. 152 Your Breath is the Validation you need!

11/7/2023
From nothing to something From here to there From impossibilities to possibilities From pain to gain From minion to dominion The validation you need to become is the breath in your nostrils, yes, the life God has given, and this He has given abundantly, for that is the license we all need in exercising Divinity on this side of eternity. Breath is often considered a fundamental aspect of living in many cultures and philosophies. Breathing is essential for sustaining life in most living organisms, including humans. The exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide through respiration is crucial for cellular function and energy production within the body. The absence of breath or the inability to breathe independently is often a clear indicator of the end of life. In this sense, the presence of breath is intricately linked to life itself, and it is often used as a symbolic representation of life and vitality. Breathing is an essential physiological function that supplies oxygen to the body to support cellular functions, including those necessary for movement. However, the ability to walk and work primarily relies on the intricate coordination of various bodily systems, such as the musculoskeletal system for movement, the nervous system for coordination, and cognitive functions for decision-making and task execution. The above is significantly accurate from the scientific front. Still, from my observation, the breath within our very being animates us and places us in time and space to express purpose as it was pre-ordained. As Humans, an aspect of our being that is very significant and, without it, makes us ‘lifeless’ is our breath, and the origin of our breath is divine. In my opinion, our understanding of this will put us on the platform to find and appreciate meaning in everything we do. I would love to look at it from this perspective; Then the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being The breath of Divinity is what animates us; it is what gives us purpose, and it is what drives our meaning. S2 Ep. 151 Organizations as Platforms

11/1/2023
Can we see organizations as platforms for self-actualization? As an HR professional, this question has been on my mind, and from my observation, I have come to see that the answer to this question is plausible. Instead, it stems from the purpose question which drives our everyday activities. Organizations can be viewed as platforms for self-actualization. When an organization fosters an environment that supports personal growth, fulfillment, and development, it can become a space where individuals can strive toward self-actualization. Here's how organizations can facilitate this: 1. Meaningful Work: Providing employees with meaningful work that aligns with their values and interests is crucial. When individuals feel their work has a purpose and contributes to something greater, it can be deeply fulfilling. 2. Supportive Culture: An organization that nurtures a culture of support, encouragement, and open communication enables employees to express themselves, their ideas, and their aspirations freely. This inclusive environment can promote personal growth. 3. Development Opportunities: Providing opportunities for learning and growth through training programs, mentorship, and challenges allows individuals to develop their skills and reach their potential. 4. Autonomy and Responsibility: Granting employees autonomy to make decisions and take responsibility for their work can empower them, fostering a sense of control and ownership over their achievements. 5. Recognition and Feedback: Acknowledging and appreciating employees' efforts, providing constructive feedback, and recognizing their achievements can significantly contribute to their self-actualization process. 6. Work-Life Balance: Encouraging a healthy work-life balance helps employees maintain well-being and allows them to pursue personal interests and passions outside of work. By integrating these aspects into the organizational structure, leaders and managers can create an environment where individuals feel empowered, valued, and motivated to reach their highest potential. When an organization prioritizes the growth and fulfillment of its members, it can serve as a platform for self-actualization. However, it's essential to note that individuals also have a role in their self-actualization. While organizations can provide an environment conducive to personal growth, individuals must be proactive in their self-development and take advantage of the opportunities and resources available. S2 Ep. 150 Meaning -Seeking Creatures

10/25/2023
"We humans appear to be meaning-seeking creatures who have had the misfortune of being thrown into a world devoid of intrinsic meaning. One of our major tasks is to invent a meaning sturdy enough to support life and to perform the tricky maneuver of denying our authorship of this meaning. Thus, we conclude it was "out there" waiting for us. Our ongoing search for substantial meaning systems often throws us into crises of meaning." ― Irvin D. Yalom, The Gift of Therapy: An Open Letter to a New Generation of Therapists and Their Patients "Meaning-seeking creatures" is a term often used to describe human beings. It conveys the idea that humans naturally seek purpose, significance, and understanding in their lives. This concept is often associated with the philosophical and existential quest for meaning, a central theme in the works of many philosophers, psychologists, and thinkers. The idea is that humans are unique in their ability to contemplate their existence, question the meaning of life, and search for deeper purpose and understanding. This search for meaning can manifest in various ways, including through religion, philosophy, art, science, relationships, and personal experiences. It reflects our innate curiosity and desire to make sense of the world and our place in it. ‘We look and find meaning anywhere we can. Inject enough meaning into an idea, and eventually the idea gets deified, or at least, we start behaving like it is.’ Gapingvoid culture design group In this episode of the Word Café, I dwell a bit on this and share some thoughts on the topic. Undeniably, our world is revealed in the words we utter; they bear the power that literally bends the fabric of time and space, which gives matter a place of occupancy, and we, the occupation of ownership that now we call where stand, live and have our homes our own, our land, our possession. No wonder it was Abram, an exalted father, at the beginning of the narration. Still, to further deepen the conversation and reinforce the image of divinity, Abraham was revealed as the Father of many nations. This opening came to define the tongues of men, propagated in their languages spoken all over the earth, releasing the breath of the Creator, which now has become the tool to transform the land into a world of beauty and wonders that are ongoing and will never end. Instead, every end is the beginning of another. Life is a gift of miracles, and these miracles are released when we speak, not in the manner of chattering, but instead from the position of authority that we have received from the Father from whom our being emanates, and in this strength we express these miracles. Our words are beyond magic, they carry the very essence called life, more than bread they carry so much power that the elements without, cannot but respond. S2 Ep. 145 The Burden of Leadership

9/20/2023
The burden of leadership! Undeniably, many of us desire to lead, and only very few understand the cost of leading and leadership. Leadership is often mistaken for fame and power; these two obvious trail the path of leadership, but truthfully speaking, leadership is beyond these. Leading and leadership comes with so many responsibilities that it will only take individuals willing to lay down their lives sacrificially speaking to lead effectively. The world is leadership-driven, be it good or otherwise. Good leadership brings about prosperity, while I leave the results of bad leadership to your imagination. The burden of leadership refers to the significant responsibilities, challenges, and pressures that come with being in a leadership position. Leadership carries a weighty set of expectations and demands, whether it's leading a company, a team, a community, or a nation. Here are some critical aspects of the burden of leadership: 1. Responsibility: Leaders are responsible for their followers' or constituents' well-being and success. This means making critical decisions that can impact the lives and livelihoods of others. The weight of this responsibility can be emotionally and mentally taxing. 2. Accountability: Leaders are held accountable for their actions and decisions. They must answer for the outcomes of their choices, whether they lead to success or failure. This accountability can be stressful and may result in personal and professional consequences. 3. Decision-Making: Leaders often face complex and high-stakes decisions. These decisions can be challenging, and the consequences of making the wrong choice can be severe. The burden of making such choices can lead to stress and anxiety. 4. Pressure: Leaders are under constant pressure to perform at a high level. They must meet the expectations of their followers, stakeholders, or superiors. The pressure to achieve goals, maintain morale, and handle crises can be intense. 5. Sacrifice: Leadership often requires personal sacrifices. Leaders may need to give up their time and hobbies or even make difficult choices that affect their family and personal life in service of their leadership roles. 6. Risk: Leadership involves taking calculated risks. Leaders must be willing to step into the unknown and take risks that others may not be willing to take. This can be intimidating and stressful. 7. Criticism: Leaders are often subjected to constructive and destructive criticism. They must learn to handle criticism gracefully and make adjustments when necessary while also maintaining their vision and integrity. 8. Loneliness: Leadership can be isolating. Ethical Dilemmas: Leaders often encounter ethical dilemmas where they must balance competing interests and principles. Navigating these dilemmas can be morally and emotionally taxing. 10. Legacy: Leaders are concerned with the legacy they leave behind. They want to be remembered for their positive contributions and impact. This concern can add to the burden of leadership. Despite leadership's many challenges and burdens, influential leaders often find meaning and fulfillment in their roles. They are driven by a sense of purpose, a desire to make a difference, and the opportunity to inspire and guide others toward a common goal. S2 Ep. 142 Tithe

8/30/2023
Does The Theory of play support the idea of rest? Our human existence, our human lives rides on traditions that are based on ordinances. These ordinances ordinate our lives; they help serve as pointers that guide us through the maze of life. These ordinances can be likened to laws; one’s ignorance does not deny their impact in terms of value, they very much enforce, but your being aware of them and knowledgeable helps in appropriating yourself wisely and receiving its benefits with the framework of its hidden yet compelling values. No, denying it, our being Human goes beyond the limits of our flesh is tangible, but not beyond our spirit, is intangible and very real, and impacts our living. One thing I have come to observe about our spirit, the reality that defines our being, is that she yearns to connect with her source by way of giving, offering that true essence to Him who she knows is higher in being and value, and has come to embrace as the Divine. This acknowledgment has a release, a flow from the Highest endowing her being. So I have been processing a thought on the Tithe, an offering, and how I perceive it from my experience as a person of faith, the Christian faith. A careful look into the various cultural nuances, the thread of offering, giving something sacred in a covenant or contractual relations is very apparent; our longing and a strong desire to provide a piece of ourselves, which reveals our commitment and a gesture that points to a reverential fear that we surrender to our source. The Tithe is one way the above conviction is expressed within the Christian faith and reflects practically on everything. The Tithe is a Hebrew word and the meaning; The first Tithe (Hebrew: מעשר ראשון, romanized: maʿśēr rîshôn) is a positive commandment in the Torah requiring the giving of one-tenth of agricultural produce to charity, after the giving of the standard terumah, to the Levite (or Kohen). This Tithe is required to be free of both monetary and service compensation. From the above, the connection is quite clear, Humanity giving to Divinity and having Divinity respond in infinite and limitless ways. S2 Ep. 141 Vision

8/23/2023
What is a vision? A vision typically refers to a mental image or concept of something that doesn't currently exist but is imagined or anticipated as a future state or outcome. It is a clear and inspiring description of a desired future that an individual, organization, community, or society aspires to achieve. Visions serve as guiding principles that help shape decisions, goals, and actions by providing a sense of direction and purpose. In various contexts, "vision" can refer to: 1. Personal Vision: An individual's aspirations and goals for life, career, or personal development. It represents what they want to accomplish or become in the future. 2. Organizational Vision: A statement outlining the long-term objectives and ideals of a company, non-profit, or other organization. It defines the impact the organization aims to have on the world or the change it wants to bring about. 3. Community or Societal Vision: A collective vision shared by a group of people or society as a whole. It often addresses broader societal issues and desired improvements in quality of life, environment, education, etc. 4. Artistic or Creative Vision: In artistic contexts, vision can refer to a creator's unique perspective, style, or creative direction. It's the distinct way an artist envisions and communicates their work. Visions are powerful tools for setting goals, inspiring motivation, and aligning efforts toward a common purpose. They provide a sense of meaning and help people or entities stay focused on their goals, making them an essential component of planning and goal-setting processes. Where do visions come from? Visions can arise from various sources within an individual's mind and external influences. Here are some common origins of visions: 1. Imagination and Creativity: Visions often stem from an individual's imagination and creative thinking. People can envision new possibilities, ideas, and concepts by exploring different perspectives and combining existing elements in novel ways. 2. Personal Values and Beliefs: Visions can be shaped by an individual's core values, beliefs, and passions. A clear and inspiring vision can emerge when aligning one's aspirations with what they deeply care about. 3. Problem Identification: Sometimes, visions are born out of recognizing a problem or gap in current affairs. The desire to address these challenges and create positive change can drive the formulation of a vision. 4. External Inspiration: Exposure to external influences such as books, movies, art, conversations, and experiences can spark new ideas and visions. Observing others' achievements, struggles, and contributions can inspire individuals to envision their path. 5. Shared Goals and Collaborative Efforts: In organizations, communities, or teams, visions can be collectively developed based on shared goals, values, and missions. Collaborative brainstorming and discussions can lead to a shared vision for the future. 6. Anticipation of Future Trends: Visions can also arise from a keen understanding of emerging trends, technologies, and societal changes. Envisioning how these trends shape the future can lead to innovative ideas and directions. 7. Reflection and Self-Discovery: Personal reflection and introspection can uncover an individual's desires, strengths, and areas of interest. This self-discovery can contribute to the formulation of a clear and meaningful vision. 8. External Guidance and Mentorship: Guidance from mentors, role models, or advisors can help individuals refine their visions. S2 Ep. 140 The New HR Model; Profit vs Prosperity

8/15/2023
The evolution of Human Resource management has never been envisaged as it is today. It has become so amoeboid that the only way to manage this is to be agile-conscious, pre-empting the changes and coming up with solutions that best fit the challenges. HR has never been so in demand as it is now. The above no doubt holds a very significant place in the workspace, but we still have to deal with the mindset change for some HR leaders, who have found it quite a big deal moving away from the 'old' to the 'new' and as such the fight to maintain the status quo is very much alive. From where I stand on the evolution of the HR model regarding management, what I consider crucial and very pivotal is how it has the capacity and potential to bring about the prosperity of both the people and the business owners, not just the profits they often see and hear within the business space. That is how I perceive the new model, One that embraces the prosperity of all within the organization, which brings their talent to play in the organization's overall progress, moving away from that mindset of just profiting for one, instead embracing that participation which acknowledges and recognizes all who put their hands on the wheel. S2 Ep. 139 The Knowledge Economy

8/9/2023
This is how I view KNOW-L-EDGE; The KNOW: is to be aware The ‘L’: your awareness leads to LEARN on a continuous cycle The EDGE: when the above factors are embraced, your EDGE becomes apparent, that advantage. So imagine bringing this into the space of carefully managing available resources and manipulating them to create more value. The knowledge economy is an economic system in which knowledge creation, acquisition, dissemination, and application are the primary drivers of economic growth and development. Unlike traditional economies that heavily rely on producing and exchanging physical goods, the knowledge economy places a significant emphasis on intellectual assets, information, technology, and innovation. Key characteristics of the knowledge economy include: 1. Intangible Assets: Intellectual capital, knowledge, skills, and expertise become essential resources in the knowledge economy. These intangible assets often value more than physical assets like machinery or real estate. 2. Information and Communication Technology (ICT): The widespread use of information and communication technologies plays a crucial role in the knowledge economy. Advanced ICT infrastructure enables the efficient exchange and access to information, fostering innovation and collaboration. 3. Innovation and Research & Development (R&D): Continuous innovation and investment in research and development are critical for the knowledge economy. Companies and countries prioritizing R&D efforts are more likely to develop new products, services, and technologies that can lead to a competitive advantage. 4. Human Capital: The knowledge economy places a premium on education, skills development, and ongoing learning. A well-educated and skilled workforce is essential to drive innovation and adapt to rapidly changing conditions. 5. Globalization and Connectivity: The knowledge economy transcends geographical boundaries. Information can be shared and accessed globally, increasing interconnectedness among individuals, organizations, and nations. 6. Entrepreneurship and Startups: The knowledge economy encourages entrepreneurship and the formation of startups. New ventures often focus on technology-based innovations and disruptive business models. 7. Creativity and Problem-Solving: Creativity and solving complex problems have become highly valued skills in the knowledge economy. Companies and individuals that can develop novel solutions thrive in this environment. 8. Services Dominance: The knowledge economy often shifts the balance from manufacturing industries towards service-based sectors, where knowledge and expertise are vital in delivering value to customers. 9. Flexibility and Adaptability: Rapid changes in technology and knowledge require organizations and individuals to be adaptable and flexible in their approaches and strategies. The knowledge economy has transformed many aspects of society, from how businesses operate and create value to how individuals access information and communicate. It has also led to the rise of digital platforms, online learning, remote work, and the growth of industries centered around data analytics, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology. Countries and regions transitioning successfully to a knowledge-based economy tend to experience higher economic growth, increased productivity, and improved living standards. However, the shift to a knowledge economy also brings challenges, including issues related to data privacy, the digital divide, and the need for lifelong learning to keep up with the fast pace of change. S2 Ep. 138 A Story of Resilience and Optimism

8/2/2023
Can you take a moment and imagine what the other side of impossibility will look like? Our mind has been designed and gifted with imagination, and from here, we come to see and appreciate our world and create that future we so much desire. The "other side of impossibility" refers to a realm of existence beyond what we currently perceive as possible within the constraints of our understanding of the universe and its laws. It represents a world where the seemingly unattainable becomes a reality. Imagining such a scenario involves delving into the realm of science fiction and the boundaries of human knowledge. I have seen life as a gift that must be unwrapped and experienced. In this experience journey, we encounter many things, which depend on how we perceive them. Are they obstacles that will deter us from progressing or opportunities to take advantage of to propel us forward? This management can be viewed from the Human Resources Management lens. For the future of work, evolving or changing is inevitable in keeping up or coping with the changes that will be encountered. As of my last update in September 2021, the future of work was already undergoing significant transformations, and these trends have likely continued to evolve since then. Here are some key aspects that were shaping the future of work: 1. Remote Work and Hybrid Work Models: The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of remote work and was expected to continue reshaping how people work. Companies embraced more flexible work arrangements, such as hybrid models, where employees split their time between remote and in-office work. 2. Automation and AI: Automation and artificial intelligence were expected to impact the job market profoundly. While they would eliminate certain tasks, they also create new job opportunities and enhance productivity in various sectors. 3. Gig Economy and Freelancing: The gig economy was rising, with more people opting for freelancing and project-based work. This trend was reshaping traditional employment structures and offering more flexibility to workers. 4. Upskilling and Reskilling: As technology advances, the demand for new skills grows. Lifelong learning, upskilling, and reskilling became essential for employees to stay relevant and adapt to changing job requirements. 5. Work-Life Balance and Well-being: Companies increasingly recognize the importance of employee well-being and work-life balance. Work culture was shifting towards more inclusive and supportive environments. 6. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Building diverse and inclusive workplaces was gaining more attention. Companies took proactive steps to address systemic inequalities and create a more equitable work environment. 7. Rise of Remote Collaboration Tools: Collaboration tools and platforms were becoming essential for teams to work together effectively, regardless of their physical location. 8. Focus on Employee Experience: Organizations prioritized employee experience to attract and retain top talent, including company culture, flexible benefits, and career development opportunities. 9. Global Talent Market: Remote work and digital communication broke geographical barriers, leading to a more globalized talent market. Companies could hire from a broader pool of candidates worldwide. 10. Environmental Sustainability: Some companies incorporated environmental sustainability into their work practices, reflecting a growing awareness of the climate crisis. NOTE THIS: The future of work is dynamic and subject to change, influenced by technological advancements, economic conditions, societal values, and unforeseen events. The years beyond 2021 may bring additional shifts and developments that further shape how we work in the future.
