The realities of addiction by Author S.E. Tschritter

3/8/2026
When I say that S.E. Tschritter has a heart of gold, trust me on that! Our chat was both warm and deeply meaningful. I felt truly honored to connect with someone so kind and empathetic. I thoroughly enjoyed my conversation with Samantha, I didn't want to stop speaking with her. One of the best conversations. Sam E. Tschritter (pronounced Shridder) is a celebrated author with multiple awards to her name. She focuses on expressing grief and loss, guiding those in pain towards hope and healing. Through her poetry, fiction, and non-fiction, Tschritter creates work that resonates powerfully with readers long after the final page is turned. With over 20 years of leadership experience and contributions to more than 40 books, she speaks her truths with candor, humor, and genuine love. Growing up in Chicagoland and having lived in Minnesota and Oregon, Tschritter has a rich tapestry of perspectives from across the nation. Nestled in Simpsonville, South Carolina, she shares her home with her husband, their three daughters navigating the teen and preteen years, two playful cats named Pitter and Patter, and a spirited Siberian husky, affectionately named Onomatopoeia (a name she lost the voting for!). For Tschritter, there's nothing quite like the rejuvenating magic of gardening. It's her go-to escape for tackling those pesky plot holes, getting through writer’s block, shaping characters, and brainstorming book concepts. Gardening truly holds a special place in her heart and occupies a significant chunk of her time! Samantha Evans' book, "The Prodigal's Son: Crackhead to Jesus Freak," recounts a life-altering night that began at 1:30 a.m. with a phone call that no spouse ever wants to receive. “Mrs. Evans, a sergeant from the police department here. There’s been an accident.” Just six hours later, another devastating call followed: “Mrs. Evans, a nurse from the hospital. We discovered something concerning in the CAT scan.” That Sunday, instead of delivering his sermon, Pastor Clint Evans found himself facing jail time, grappling with a BAC of .24, a cancer diagnosis, and a felony charge for fleeing from the police. "The Prodigal's Son: Crackhead to Jesus Freak" is an inspiring tale of a Christian’s relentless struggle with demons, addictions, and feelings of unworthiness. This narrative showcases a God who shines brightly, bestowing grace upon a man often deemed "unredeemable." The Prodigal’s Son bursts open the church doors wide, welcoming society’s misfits and urging the devout to rethink how they measure their own spiritual worth against those struggling with addiction, homelessness, and despair. Journeying from gutter to pulpit, from grace to the grave, this powerful narrative reveals the depth of God’s relentless love for those society often overlooks. It also tells the story of a pastor facing the consequences of drunk driving, shedding light on the devastating impact of alcoholism on families. Many suffer in silence: 'My wife hid her addiction from me' and 'My husband concealed his alcoholism.' The struggle with drug addiction touches millions. Canada’s top retired professor, well-known media contributor & author - Trevor W. Harrison

3/5/2026
Chatting with Trevor was an absolute blast! We had such a great time talking about his incredible voice—he truly has that perfect radio/TV sound. Not only is Trevor refreshingly down-to-earth, but he's also hilariously funny. He’s authored two poetry books and has exciting plans for his career ahead. For a bit of background, Trevor W. Harrison is a retired sociology professor from the University of Lethbridge, renowned for his insightful work in political sociology, political economy, and public policy. He has penned, co-authored, or co-edited twelve books, including a prior poetry collection, alongside countless journal articles, chapters, and reports. Plus, he frequently shares his expertise in the public media space, including both radio and television. Trevor's poetry collection, "Poetry Without Borders," showcases him as a prominent political sociologist and public intellectual. In this thought-provoking compilation, he delves into themes of memory, regret, nature, and loss through a series of previously unpublished poems crafted over several decades. With a blend of wry humor and playful insight, these pieces invite readers to contemplate their own life experiences. In addition, Trevor's other collection, "War And Other Inconveniences," features a mix of poems penned since 2020 alongside five older works. Notably, a prior version of “A Pretty Good Planet” was featured in Alberta Views in March 2022, while “Guernica, Then and Now” made its debut in Canadian Dimension on November 8, 2023. Together, these poems tackle the unsettling dystopian themes of our time, highlighting issues like war, looming threats, our collective indifference, and the poignant consequences that follow. But war also shares the stage with other threats—climate change, pestilence, oligarchic power, and right-wing authoritarianism. The poems bend towards the dark, but in the author's words, he would rather walk in the truthful dark than in a false light. USA Today Best-selling Author - Jeffery H. Haskell who dedicates his life to writing sci-fi books

1/30/2026
My chat with Jeffery H. Haskell was an incredible experience! He’s not only driven but also incredibly relatable. As a gifted author, he has achieved remarkable success in his career. Interviewing him was a true privilege! Jeffery is a USA Today bestselling author, a Dragon nominee, and an award-winning journalist who lives and breathes the art of storytelling. Writing has been his passion since childhood—he can’t recall a time when he wasn’t spinning tales. Now a full-time author, he follows his calling with the support of his wonderful family. The only thing he enjoys as much as writing and sharing his insights on the craft is helping fellow authors thrive. He’s committed to writing for life, and who knows? He might just keep going even longer! I can't forget to mention that he is also a podcast host. Dive into Jeffrey's thrilling universe of "Against All Odds: Grimm’s War Book One." Meet idealistic Navy Lieutenant Jacob Grimm, who aspires to honor his mother's legacy from the last great war. But when he’s compelled to open fire and obliterate a fleet of ships in order to protect his own crew, he believes he’s acting like a hero—until he learns that those ships were filled with children. Now disgraced and stripped of his chances for advancement, Jacob's career seems to have reached its end. That is, until the head of ONI calls on him for an unconventional mission. He’ll be taking command of the battered destroyer, Interceptor, stationed on the fringe of a chaotic system in turmoil. The kicker? This ship hasn't had a commanding officer in months, and it's in disarray. To make matters worse, Jacob finds himself mired in a corrupt region teetering on the brink of civil war against the Alliance. Get ready for a gripping adventure that tests the limits of loyalty and moral choice! Nobody ever mentioned to Jacob that he was expendable. With pirates, smugglers, and spies from the Caliphate throwing a wrench into the mix, one captain and his aging ship are ill-equipped to uphold the law, much less bring anyone to justice. A groundbreaking revelation is on the verge of reshaping intergalactic politics forever. If Jacob can't find a way to triumph, it won’t just spell doom for the Alliance—it could mean the loss of freedom for all of humanity. This thrilling military science fiction saga from USA Today bestselling author Jeffery H. Haskell, reminiscent of Honor Harrington and Star Trek. If you're a fan of brave heroes and starships, join Commander Jacob T. Grimm as he faces impossible odds. Welcome aboard the Navy! You can find the book at Against All Odds | Book by Jeffery H. Former Newspaper Journalist & Columnist/Editor for News/Sports (NFL) Author - Patrick Sangimino

12/23/2025
Wow! I just had an incredible conversation with Patrick Sangimino! We clicked instantly, and our chat was bursting with energy and laughter. I can’t even begin to describe how fantastic Patrick is. I’m so eager for our second interview! Patrick took a timeout and pulled to the side of the road to have the best conversation with me, which was super awesome. For over forty years, Patrick was a distinguished journalist, making his mark at various newspapers in California and across the Midwest before retiring in 2024. He spent eight seasons covering the NFL, skillfully balancing his time between news and sports as both a columnist and editor. Hailing from San Francisco and raised in the blue-collar coastal town of Pacifica, where he grew up among 39,000 residents, Patrick honed his skills at San Jose State University. He worked his way through college by freelancing at high school sporting events for the San Mateo Times. His journey began as the sports editor of a one-man sports department at the Pacifica Tribune, his local weekly paper. Fast forward five years, and he found himself covering the NFL for the Olathe Daily News, nestled in a Kansas City suburb just across the state line. After an exciting eight-season run there, he joined KMBC, the top ABC station in Kansas City. As the senior editor for their website, he penned a nationally syndicated column that reached audiences through all 64 Hearst-Argyle properties across the country. In 2006, a career-changing opportunity arose when his wife landed a prestigious position at a Fortune 500 company, prompting their move to Wichita, Kansas. He became the managing editor of the Wichita Business Journal, a role he embraced for three years before diving back into sports journalism as the sports editor and columnist at the Hutchinson News, the state's third-largest newspaper at the time. In 2014, his wife's job relocated them once again, this time to Omaha, Nebraska, where he contributed to the Omaha World-Herald before securing a position with the Lincoln Journal Star in 2018. After holding onto his position until his retirement in 2024, he made the journey back to sunny California—specifically Sunnyvale, right at the heart of Silicon Valley. There, he aimed to help his siblings take away the car keys from their now 87-year-old mother. Patrick's book, “Dogs Chase Cars,” offers a compelling look at the decline of the newspaper industry, seen through the eyes of a seasoned Kansas City sports columnist. On a November Friday, he heads to work, fully aware that he might be yet another victim in an industry that has faced devastating losses over the years. The narrative unfolds over a single day but dives into pivotal moments from his career—like the time he covered a World Series game in 1989 that was interrupted by a 7.1 earthquake, and the unforgettable incident of breaking the news about a Hall of Fame quarterback’s rumored trade while caught in a rather awkward situation at a urinal. It’s a story reflecting on shifting times, evolving technology, and the ignorance and hubris of industry leaders who once believed that past profits were untouchable. More information about Patrick, please go to https://patricksangimino.com/ or follow on social media. She collaborates with fiction and memoir authors, particularly those interested in historical fiction, women’s fiction, memoirs, and young adult narratives—especially those ready to invest in their craft and personal growth. Her mission is to inspire women to uncover their sisu, a Finnish term for strength, courage, and determination, through the power of reading and writing. In her book "Like Water for Weary Souls," set against the backdrop of a harsh Northern Ontario mining town during the Great Depression, we follow Finnish immigrant sisters Hanna and Essi Kivi as they make ends meet as domestic workers, sharing a cramped room in a somewhat dubious boarding house owned by a watchful madame. When Hanna's lifeless body is pulled from the frigid waters of Nolin Creek, authorities deem it a tragic accident—yet the story holds much more. Essi understands the truth all too well. Her sister would never have taken the chance of crossing dangerous ice—not after their youngest sister Martta tragically drowned years ago. Battling her guilt and fueled by unwavering loyalty, Essi starts to uncover the secrets that Hanna kept buried. As she delves into her sister's last days, she realizes that in a town filled with hopes and struggles for a brighter tomorrow, everyone carries their own hidden truths. It's an enthralling story about love, family, sisterhood, and the quest for truth. PR Titan Audrey Hyams Romoff on Breaking Cycles of Trauma - Author & CEO

11/29/2025
I had an incredibly engaging conversation with Audrey Hyams Romoff on the podcast! We delved into the topic of trauma and the ways it affects individuals. I want to emphasize that seeking help from a therapist is absolutely normal—it doesn't mean you're struggling with insanity; it simply shows you're taking steps to heal. Audrey, the president of OverCat Communications, is a highly regarded communications expert focused on luxury clients. Beyond her impressive professional life, she's a devoted wife, a passionate mother, and a big-hearted animal lover. Juggling a dynamic lifestyle, she dazzles in her collection of stunning designer outfits. With a PhD in compartmentalization, Audrey brilliantly crafts the illusion of a picture-perfect life. Don't miss the opportunity to join her and her daughter Lindsay as they explore a profound journey through decades of intergenerational trauma and the weight of grief impacting four generations of women in their family. Hyams Romoff’s striking term, “ripple eclipse,” powerfully illustrates how trauma, especially an experience as harrowing as surviving Auschwitz, extends beyond the individual who lived it. Its effects extend like ripples in water, touching children, grandchildren, and even later generations. The anguish can overshadow feelings of joy and warmth, akin to the sun being obscured during a solar eclipse. With this evocative phrase, Romoff sheds light on a legacy that many carry but seldom recognize. In this beautifully written narrative of resilience, survival, and spectacle, *The Ripple Eclipse* enriches our understanding of inherited trauma. Romoff’s journey resonates with anyone grappling with the intricate relationship between family heritage and personal development. The hilarious journey with an all-new perspective of the Middle East by Author Candace

6/19/2025
I had an absolute blast having Candace MacPhie on my podcast! She's truly an inspiring individual, and our chat was incredibly captivating. Candace hails from Montreal, Quebec, and has spent years exploring the globe while backpacking and working. With a Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA under her belt, she has amassed two decades of experience across four continents but now calls Calgary, Alberta, her home. After getting married and starting a family, life got pretty hectic, and time flew by as her kids quickly grew up. To prioritize family, she made the bold choice to leave her job and focus on home life. During the COVID lockdown, with a bit more time on her hands, she decided to dive into writing and launched the "Back in a Year" series. Currently, she has three series: the first one is "Finding Color," the second is "Life Strikes Back," and her latest is "Hello, I Am Here." Candace's recent book, *Hello, I Am Here*, tells the story of her adventure with a ticket to travel the world, setting her sights on the Middle East. But instead of diving into her travels, she's stuck in Prague, pining for a guy who made it clear he doesn't love her. What keeps her there? It's like kryptonite holds her back. Together, they roam through the Czech Republic and Germany, indulging in way too many peanut butter sandwiches and avoiding their feelings—until they can't any longer. When she finally boards a plane to meet up with her Australian friends, each step she takes through the scorching Middle Eastern heat brings a whole new set of challenges. Her escapades in Europe seem like a walk in the park compared to what lies ahead. This book captures her journey, showcasing the obstacles she faces and how she manages to push through against all odds. The Remarkable Mentor, Author & Speaker Doug Lawrence (when you lose someone you love-dont give up)

5/27/2025
I recently had the incredible opportunity to interview Doug Lawrence on my podcast, and it was an experience unlike any other. We dived into a wide range of significant topics, and having Doug on the show was a true highlight for me. One moment that really struck me was when I asked him why he chose the title "Grief" for his book. He shared that the book is a heartfelt dedication to his wife, who he tragically lost during the pandemic, and that just broke my heart. I can't even imagine the pain of losing someone you’ve loved for years. Doug is remarkably strong and so composed. For those who may not know, Doug Lawrence is the founder of TalentC® and a proud co-founder of the International Mentoring Community (IMC). With over 40 years of experience in leadership and mentoring, he stands out as the only person worldwide to hold the Certificate of Practice – Journey Mentor, awarded by the IMC. As a trained Journey Mentor, he plays a pivotal role in guiding fellow mentors through the certification process offered by the IMC. The Journey Mentor plays a significant role in being a part of the support structure for mentor health. This requires that the Journey Mentor be able to provide a deeper, richer mentoring experience. Now he has his newest book "Grief". Grief is a profound and universal experience, a natural response to the loss of someone or something deeply cherished. Yet, for many, the journey through grief is made even more difficult by a lack of personal understanding and a society rife with misconceptions about what it means to grieve. This widespread misunderstanding has contributed to a mental health pandemic, leaving countless individuals feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and without the tools to heal. In Grief the Silent Pandemic, Doug Lawrence offers a guiding light in the darkness of loss. Drawing from decades of experience as a grief mentor and the deeply personal pain of losing his beloved wife, Lawrence provides a compassionate and insightful exploration of the grieving process. The Journey Mentor holds an important place in the support system for mentor well-being, which means they need to offer a more meaningful and enriching mentoring experience. Now, his latest book, "Grief." Grief is a deep and universal feeling—it's a natural reaction to losing someone or something we hold dear. Unfortunately, the path through grief can be even more challenging for many due to a lack of personal insight and a society filled with misconceptions about grieving. This widespread confusion has sparked a mental health crisis, leaving many people feeling lonely, overwhelmed, and without the necessary tools for healing. With raw honesty and profound empathy, he delves into the complexities of grief, shedding light on the emotional, psychological, and societal challenges it presents. With a genuine approach and deep understanding, he explores the many layers of grief, highlighting the emotional, mental, and social hurdles it brings.
