Von der Kindheit bis ins Alter hatte Goethe eine Vorliebe für Märchen. Er kannte die verschiedenen Sammlungen sehr gut und war ein ausgezeichneter Erzähler. Von seinen zahlreichen Plänen, Märchen zu schreiben, hat er nur drei ausgeführt: „Der neue Paris“ – ein „Knabenmärchen“, „Die neue Melusine“ – ein „Jünglingsmärchen“ und „Das Märchen“. Dieses „Knabenmärchen“ ist ein Produkt des über 60-Jährigen, in dem er sich jedoch auf ein Märchen bezieht, das er selbst als Kind häufig erzählt hat. Gedichte aus Goethes Jugend, der Zeit der ersten Liebe und des Sturm-und-Drang, kommen auf dieser CD hinzu und ergänzen das Märchen, das davon erzählt, wie ein Junge zum Mann wird. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was fascinated by traditional fairytales, from his early childhood until his final years. He knew the various German fairy tale collections very well and was an excellent narrator. Despite planning to write a multitude of fairy tales himself, he only managed to create three: “Der neue Paris” (The New Paris), “Die neue Melusine” (The New Melusine) and “Das Märchen” (The Fairy Tale), a story that revolves around the crossing and bridging of a river, which represents the divide between the outer life of the senses and the ideal aspirations of the human being.
