It tells the story of the beautiful Tahoser, daughter of the priest Pétamounoph, who loves a young Hebrew named Poëri, but is herself ardently wooed by Pharaoh. This novel, rich and colorful, describes the antic Egypt in a particularly poetic manner, but also tells the tale of a certain Mosché, aka Moses, as he tries to get his people out of Egypt.
