Ant-man and The Wasp

Another month, another Marvel movie. This time, it's the sequel to 2015's "Ant-man" called "Ant-man and The Wasp." Mr. Zulueta and I manage to stop talking about DC movies for a moment to have a chat about the first Marvel film to be released after "Avengers: Infinity War." Is this a worthy addition, or just fodder to hold us over until "Captain Marvel" and "Avengers 4"? -- Chuck

Under The Skin

On this episode I give some thoughts on the Scarlett Johansen science fiction vehicle "Under The Skin," a film that I feel doesn't get as much attention as it deserves. It's rare that you see an A-list star like Johansen taking on a role like this. If you're a science fiction fan, you owe it to yourself to see this film! -- Chuck

FullMetal Alchemist and other Anime faves

José and I discuss the live action anime adaptation of "FullMetal Alchemist" on Netflix, as well as a few of the anime series that we would love to see made into live action adaptations. It's a good time all around! --Chuck

The Incredibles 2

This is a very special episode of Cinepod Moviecast for me because my co-hosts are my little kiddies, my babies, my little children, Maya Eloise and Ravi Alexander! We saw "The Incredibles 2," which featured the short film "Bao" and I get their perspective on both. Since this is a family film, I thought it would be appropriate to hear from kids! And this episode was a lot of fun to record (they had a blast!). This is a family-friendly episode of Cinepod Moviecast, so you can actually share...

Yellow Submarine

In this episode of Cinepod Moviecast, José and I reminisce about one of our favorite films of all-time: Yellow Submarine! This year marks the 50th anniversary of this animated rock musical featuring the music of The Beatles. We spend quite a bit of time talking about Beatles' music and mythology, but we also manage to discuss the film itself (haha). It's a magical mystery tour of epic proportions! Are you ready? Splendid!

Dune: The Alternative Edit, Redux

How YOU Dune? David Lynch's Dune is considered one of the most divisive science fiction films of all time. Universally panned upon its initial release, it eventually found a devoted audience on home video and became an undeniable cult classic. Mr. Zulueta and I absolutely adore this film. I remember my father seeing it in the theatre back in the day, and if you were lucky enough to see it opening weekend like he did, the audience was given a pamphlet with a glossary of terms so that...

Solo: A Star Wars Story

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...we are once again presented with a story from the Star Wars universe. This time, it's Han Solo in the pilot's seat with "Solo: A Star Wars Story," staring Alden Erinriech in the role that made Harrison Ford a star! We also have Donald Glover taking over for Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian. Mr. Zulueta and I have marveled over the reality of the fact that we will be getting new Star Wars pictures every year for the foreseeable future! Is...

Deadpool 2

The Merc with the Mouth is BACK, kids! In this episode of Cinepod Moviecast, José and I chat about the latest and greatest from the Marvel Universe-- the sequel to 2016's Deadpool-- Deadpool 2! Smart-assery, action, thrills, and time travel! -- Chuck

Avengers: Infinity War

It's the beginning of the end of a new beginning in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! In this episode of Cinepod Moviecast, José and I discuss "Avengers: Infinity War," the 3rd in the Avengers series and a culmination of over 10 years of storytelling. Is it a marvel, or is it a...well, let's not bury the lead here, this movie is damn impressive! Take a listen as we deploy the Time Stone and look back at what is being described as "The Empire Strikes Back" of superhero films. -- Chuck

2001: A Space Odyssey

Open the pod bay doors, Hal! In this episode of Cinepod Moviecast, we discuss the only science fiction film directed by Mr. Zulueta's favorite director Stanley Kubrick on the 50th Anniversary of its release. Is it a timeless masterpiece, or is it a laborious slog (albeit a brilliant one). -- Chuck

Showgirls v. Pink Flamingos

"What you are about to a REAL THING!" Indeed. Welcome to this latest episode of Cinepod MovieCast we look at two iconic cult films: Paul Verhoeven's "Showgirls" and John Waters' "Pink Flamingos." This was José's first time seeing the Verhoeven film, and it was my first time seeing the Waters film. For me, "Pink Flamingos" had been on my radar for over 20 years, but I avoided it because of what I had heard about the ending. As for José, he gets a bit of insight into how Elizabeth...

Ready Player One

Welcome to the '80s! That's the theme of this latest episode of Cinepod Moviecast, wherein Mr. Zulueta and I talk about science fiction cult classic "Liquid Sky" from 1982. Then, we take a look at the one and only Mr. Steven Spielberg's long-awaited, much-anticipated adaptation of Ernest Cline's 'totally awesome' debut novel "Ready Player One". I read the book a few years back, and having grown up as a geek in the 1980s, I fell in love with the book; it's fun, and entertaining- a Charlie and...

Rock & Rule

Ohm, sweet, Ohm! In this episode, I run my mouth about the Canadian-animated classic Rock & Rule (also known as Ring of Power), a post-apocalyptic science fiction rock opera with one of the most impressive soundtracks you've ever heard! -- Chuck Show Notes: Trailer for "Rock & Rule" (excerpts appear in the podcast). "The Making of Rock & Rule" -- This is a documentary about the making of the film, with interviews with the filmmakers, animators, and the musicians featured on the...

The Shape of Water

Howdy, everyone! In this week's episode of Cinepod Moviecast, José and I take a look at Oscar-nominated "The Shape of Water," by Guillermo Del Toro. Is it a magical movie experience, or is it just all wet? Hear José gasp at the answer (haha). Hear the wide-ranging, tangential geekery! Also, I introduce some new features to the show...for added value! -- Chuck

Black Panther

The moment that millions of people have been waiting for...the release of Marvel's Black Panther! In this episode, Chuck and José dig into this full course meal of this film, it's cultural significance, and it's cinematic glory. Wakanda forever!

Cloverfield Paradox

Surprise! J.J. Abrams has done it again, and brought us a 3rd Cloverfield film out of nowhere! José hasn't seen any of the Cloverfield films, but Chuck has seen all three, and in this episode he takes us through Cloverfield Paradox. Does it live up to the first film? Is it a weak addition to the series? Or is this just another crew-stuck-on-a-space-station-or-ship-while-crazy-stuff-happens film?

Get Out

In our latest episode, Chuck and José talk about writer/director Jordan Peele's directorial debut "Get Out." Is it a horror film, a comedy, social commentary, or all of the above? The "Sunken Place" awaits...

Will Smith stars in the Netflix genre mash-up "Bright," and Chuck and José have a lot to say about it! Does this new take on the traditional cop thriller work?

Join Chuck and José as they venture back to the futuristic year of 1997 to discuss the adventures of Snake Plisken in John Carpenter's "Escape from New York." The question is....will José survive?

The Naked Kiss

Before Julia Robert, there was Constance Towers: the original 'hooker with the heart of gold." This week, Chuck and José review Samuel Fuller's The Naked Kiss.
