4/28/2024
Meet Kat Kennan who is recovering and doing well with CPSTD. Kat was sexually abused at a very young age and took abuse from her brother while growing up. She is a passionate advocate for trauma survivors, leading her to establish the PTS/C-PTS advocacy organization, “Stand Up to Trauma”. Through this organization, she enables others to heal and thrive beyond their traumatic experiences. Come join us as we talk about how her company teaches “Brand Empathy”. We also talk about “Cancel Culture”, CPTSD/PTSD, and of course the recovery from CPTSD. On a Personal Note, Turns out the Raspy voice I’ve had over the last year or so was an issue with my vocal cords, especially on the left side. I hope to be back by the last quarter. I have several great episodes coming up, don’t miss it. Podchaser has 100 but Apple says 5 more which will be there by October 23rd 2024. Also a two part episode of “best of” with OTR bloopers. New Orleans Blues - Teen and Situational Depression, plus Narcolepsy

3/29/2024
Meet Ryan Winter, a French Cajun author born and raised near the city of New Orleans. He tells his story of depression which seems to be a mixture of heredity and the misfortunes that occurred in his life, including Hurricane Katrina. He is an experienced Freelance Writer with a demonstrated history of working in the writing and editing industry. Ryan is skilled in Film Production, Linguistics, Creative Writing, and Short Films. He describes his childhood, which he felt was free of any signs of depression. I found it interesting that, like me, his mental health issues mostly started entering 7th grade in a harsher new school environment. Ryan talks about how bad situations and possibly a predisposition for depression affected him from that point on. French Cajun author of 3 books in vastly different genres: "New Orleans Mother Goose", a children's picture book released Sept. 2014 by Pelican Publishing Co... "Wake the Devil" a historical fiction based on the infamous Axeman murders of 1918 New Orleans published by Lulu Press, Inc... and "Ravish" a darkly erotic story self-published through Amazon KDP released in November 2019 So listen to his long road to recovery while he still works on living a much happier life. Living with Tourette Syndrome - One Man's Story

3/15/2024
Meet Kristof Morrow, a 34-year-old Navy veteran, an award winning journalist/photographer author of literary work "The Second Sun," which already sold more than 13 hundred copies . “Second Sun,” went viral on TikTok in June and it is recommended reading in university classes studying literature. Life gave no freebies to Kristof. Growing up, his parents viciously abused him daily. In the Navy, at the age of 18, he showed symptoms of an affliction he would discover years later was a rare type of Tourette Syndrome (TS), a condition of the nervous system. TS causes people to have “tics”. Tics are sudden twitches, movements, or sounds that people make repeatedly. This is his story of courage as he struggles with the negative emotional and social affects that Tourette’s can have on anyone. Growing up, he was the third born but the first to graduate high school, He taught himself to write while serving in the US Navy as a Corpsman, right after high school. After the navy, Kristof became an EMT around the age of 23, then a 911 dispatcher at 26 before earning, by audition, a job at a newspaper. He was 27 years old and won awards from two Texas Press Associations for feature writing and photography. I think neurodivergent people can relate to Kristof’s struggles. Inside he is a very intelligent person, but on the outside people might see only his Tourette's. Somehow, he navigates life. This is his inspirational story. Treating PTSD/CPTSD Naturally

1/25/2024
Today I talk with Kathern Berg. She is an alternative health practitioner--A classical homeopath with over 20 years of experience. She specializes in working with people who are struggling with PTSD or CPTSD and, because it seems to appear along with PTSD, she also helps people with long held grief. She has a lot of stories to tell of clients who have recovered from PTSD using Classical Homeopathy. Kathryn studied at the Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy to learn how to solve health problems. She is the owner of Lotus Homeopathy, Inc. and a Certified Classical Homeopath. The thing that really drives Kathern is solving problems and being an advocate for those who need help getting their problems solved. She has been working as a homeopath since 2001. She also worked as a volunteer lobbyist at the Minnesota State Legislature for 10 years to help protect our health freedom laws which enables her to practice and you to use the services of all sorts of natural health practitioners. In addition to Homeopathy School, you can hardly keep her away from advanced learning. She specializes in working with clients with PTSD and C/PTSD, because she is really grateful to the men and women in the Armed Services in the US and first responders as well, who are willing to put their lives on the line to protect the rest of us. There are of course, many civilians who develop PTSD and C/PTSD from a traumatic experience or upbringing and I work with them as well. she firmly believe you can recover from PTSD, because I have seen it in my clients. America in Therapy - Hope and Healing for a Nation in Crisis

1/12/2024
In this episode we talk with a special guest. Her name is Phyllis E. Leavitt, and she is a psychotherapist with over 30 years of working extensively with individual and family dysfunction and abuse. We talk about what’s in her new book called “America in Therapy: A New Approach to Hope and Healing For A Nation In Crisis”, in which she talks about the urgency to bring our whole country to therapy in a way never written about before. Which is critically important if we want to make this world a better place for real. Especially In the times we live in. If we have any hope, then it has to start at home. This subject is so important to me because it’s the message I want to bring out in this podcast, especially when so many people are suffering with their mental health or the loss of a loved one this holiday season. America and the world need to heel If we are to continue to be a civilized culture. The divisional and tribal stubbornness and network Propaganda and manipulation of the people has divided this country and families. We need to listen to each other, not hate. From Phyllis’ years of experience as a client herself, and well over 30 years experience as a psychotherapist she has a calling to share all she has learned with the public and demonstrate how the principles of the best psychotherapy can be used to help heal our country of escalating hatred, divisiveness and violence. She speaks to all of us who fear for our children and all future generations, who may feel hopeless or resigned or simply don't know what to do to help create a more loving and sustainable world. She brings a message of both urgency and hope, in language the layman can easily relate to and understand, through personal stories, client case studies, and professional expertise. Her basic premise is that we are on a collision course with our own extinction and she see this as a national and global mental health crisis that is not being addressed. She explores the direct correlation between the most destructive family dynamics on the individual level and many of the behaviors and actions of some of our most powerful institutions and leaders, and she highlight that millions of us are suffering the effects of national psychological dysfunction in ways we might not be aware of. She helps the listener understand that many answers of how to heal our human relations and restore us to peace and safety are already known and used effectively in the field of psychotherapy, and that there is HOPE if we can take everything we know about healing into national conversation. The best psychotherapy helps interrupt the cycle of violence— which is our best hope of prevention— and it involves a total reversal of many of the beliefs and dynamics that now run our country. Lies - Chasing Truth

8/23/2023
This is a special episode that examines the untruth - lies. We look at how lies are so prevalent, especially in today’s world. And how they can distract you from the truth. I talk about my belief that truth = love = God. We examine each type of lie from a white lie to Justification. I believe that living truthfully with yourself and WITH others can help your mental health immensely. How the US is so polarized politically as the news shows spout propaganda, a lie. How people may lie to themselves. I was originally hoping to get this out for Independence Day as a solo show, I did many different VERSIONS, but they all came out preachy and monotone. Then I thought of John Lee from the shows “What is the Meaning of Life? Why are we here?” back in December 2021 and “What is Consciousness?” last March 2022. Thanks to John, it finally came out very Entertaining. So, get ready for the truth. Enjoy Please consider contributing to the show by sharing or donating. 100 percent of the donations will go to grow the show. I explain more in the link. Unprecedented - Alarming Mental Condition of our Children

7/19/2023
This is a must listen, we can’t let our children suffer needlessly when they need our help. There are unprecedented statistics on depression and anxiety, suicide and drug overdoses among our young children, parents need real ideas on how to stay in touch and connected to their children. Join me as I talk to Sue Horton who wrote the book "Raising a Resilient Family - How to Create Strong Connection and Communication in a Deeply Distracted World". Having facilitated the healing of multiple families from major life conflicts and issues, we talk about some of her techniques to create open and honest communication and authentic connections. These approaches are the most effective tools Susan has used in both her private practice and at the therapeutic school for creating consistent, healthy relationships in a family. These ideas, when applied, really work! Susan believes that the family, no matter what shape it takes, is the foundation for civility in this world. Her greatest hope is to support parents in finding better ways to coexist with their children, successfully, and to help families develop resilience to thrive in extraordinary ways! Don’t miss this very important episode. The first step in helping these children is to listen before it's too late. Don’t Dim Your Light – ADHD Issues and Relationships

5/17/2023
I interviewed Natacha Marianczuk in the episode ADHD/ADD – The Silent Disability from October 18th, 2021. Today we talk more about the issues people with ADHD suffer and how it effects their relationships with friends and family. Natacha has ADHD and is taking medication which helps with the issue. But she says a good diet is essential. I think this is a important message to help educate the public. To help fight back and reduce the stigma of ADHD and allow people to flourish in school and life’s relationships.
