The BC Messenger

The proper date for Noah's Flood, based on extensive evidence, is 3520 B.C. With this anchor point established, we can then begin to investigate questions surrounding the Flood, and we can get real, concrete, fascinating answers from various branches of science, including archaeology. Today, we delve into one such question. Who were the people who perished in Noah's Flood? In Matthew 24, Jesus says: "For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away, so will the coming of the Son of Man be." Another version says "until the flood came and swept them all away." Who were these people groups, these civilizations who were swept away in Noah's Flood? What can we know about them? We investigate the lives and cultures of specific ancient people groups in south Mesopotamia, in Palestine, in Greece, in Ireland, and North America. Evidence strongly supports the hypothesis that all of these civilizations perished in the Flood, at the date of circa 3520 B.C., causing a major well-known cultural break across continents in the centuries following Noah's Flood. "Historians see circa. 3300-3000 B.C. as one of the most dramatic turning points in human pre-history. Multiple major civilizations across the world underwent sudden cultural breaks—urbanization, writing, political unification, collapse of older cultures, migration waves, and technological milestones." -Chat GPT Nowhere else will you hear this specific, detailed information. Other Bible-believing groups have not been able to pin a functional date on Noah's Flood, and this stops them from knowing much of anything about the Flood, outside of what the Bible says. We are blessed to be able to tie secular history together with biblical history with the strong foundation of proper chronology. [Season 4, Episode 4] After his initial discovery of the anti-aging vitamins, Dr. Aardsma made contact with the United States FDA, attempting to follow the applicable guidelines before bringing his new product to market in 2017. The interactions between Dr. Aardsma and the FDA at that time ended up being frustrating and unproductive. "Two new vitamins" appear to be uncharted territory for the FDA. After five years of subsequent silence, the FDA contacted Dr. Aardsma this past summer. (Why now, after five years of silence? We have some ideas.) Imagine a time when people were getting sick and dying, sometimes large groups of people at the same time, and living in the same area. Although symptoms were similar in each case, the mysterious illnesses defied conventional cures. Nobody could pinpoint the problem. Maybe it was something in the environment, or an unknown virus or bacteria. Doctors tried various remedies, some typical, some bizarre. Still, the victims suffered in misery, or even died a horrific death. Imagine the astonishment when people began to discover that something as simple as lemons or cod liver oil in the diet seemed to cure these horrible diseases. Why a lemon? Why cod liver oil? Why were specific foods needed to fix the problem? Welcome to the world of vitamin discovery, where mysterious illnesses were eventually cured by groundbreaking scientific advancements. Just a few hundred years ago, nobody foresaw that tiny amounts of specific chemical substances could transform human health. Nobody knew that without specific invisible molecules (much to small to be seen with the unaided human eye) the body would get sick and die. Missing molecules were, in fact, the cause of unimaginable suffering. Scientists began to reach a new level of understanding of the relationship between diet and nutrition. Once these substances which we now call vitamins started to become known, the path to acceptance and scientific consensus remained challenging. People often clung to mistaken beliefs. Fast forward a hundred years, and the era of vitamin discovery is far from over. The field of Bible/science research now intersects with the field of vitamin discovery. And the path forward for these newly discovered vital molecules (the anti-aging vitamins) has proven, so far, to be just as difficult. This new discovery has been greeted with suspicion, subjected to ridicule, and in general met with resistance. People still cling to mistaken beliefs. Here at Aardsma Research and Publishing we have been talking about two newly discovered vitamins since 2017. The stories shared on today's episode help set the stage for next month's podcast, when we plan to share some stories of our own. On today's episode we discuss an unusual piece of history which relates to Bible/science research; an amazing story of discovery with numerous intriguing applications. In 1991, the body of "Otzi the Iceman" was discovered in the high Alps where he lived and died over 5,000 years ago. This rare and remarkable find provides unusual insight into ancient times. Knowing the date of Otzi's death allows us to place him on the timeline, and we find that Otzi and ancient Bible history complement each other rather nicely. God led the children of Israel through the wilderness by a "pillar of fire" during the night. (Exodus 13:21) Was this a miraculous pillar of actual fire floating in the air, involving smoke and heat? Or was it something else that could actually be explained by science? As with the pillar of cloud, we find that modern science sheds light on what was happening within the environment to create this observable phenomenon at night within the unique environment of the Israelite encampments. Today we call this phenomenon "chemiluminescence." As a result of this new scientific understanding, we can even see what color the pillar of fire would have been. Albert Einstein contributed numerous breakthrough contributions to science. His discoveries, which include both special and general relativity, the photoelectric effect, the mass-energy equivalence formula, and a mathematical explanation for Brownian motion, ushered in the era of modern physics. One of the great unsolved mysteries left behind by Einstein was the origin of earth's magnetic field. "Albert Einstein worked diligently, but unsuccessfully, to understand the origin of Earth’s magnetic field, which he considered to be one of the five most important unsolved problems in physics." Although Einstein was a deist, he cast aside the Bible's recorded history early in life. However, the Bible's ancient record holds the data which ultimately leads to the solving of this great mystery of geophysics (and several others). Does the Bible say that Noah's ark landed on Mt. Ararat? In fact, the Bible does not identify Mt. Ararat as the place the ark came to rest. Instead, it identifies "the mountains of Ararat" in Genesis 8:4. The mountains of Ararat in eastern Turkey include many mountain peaks. The biblical text gives some clues to help determine where the ark came to rest. We discuss these clues, and show how science can be used to help pinpoint one particular mountain as the most likely resting place for Noah, his family, and the animals inside the ark. Our discussion flows out of an article Dr. Aardsma published in 1997, which narrowed down step by step which mountain is likely to be the place where the ark actually landed, and explained why this question is of importance to biblical chronology (and much of the Bible/science research that has happened since that time). Imhotep is a notable and intriguing figure from ancient Egyptian history. Trusted as closest advisor (vizier) to the Pharoah Djoser, his roles included architect, poet, high priest, physician, and carpenter. He is history's first physician known by name today, and is credited with the authorship of two ancient medical documents. Proper chronology places Imhotep at exactly the same time as the biblical Joseph, whom the Bible portrays as having extraordinary leadership skills and acting as closest advisor to Pharoah. Was the biblical Joseph the same person as the Egyptian Imhotep? On this episode we consider, from several angles, the strong correlations between the two historical figures. Imhotep's name has been mentioned in modern news lately, in connection with—of all things—a possible cure for cancer. The biblical account of Ai, in close connection with Jericho, provides a unique opportunity to once again see the Bible come to life in archaeology. The unique features of this story are easily identified in archaeology, but once again, correct chronology is key. Ai was a walled city at only one period in history, and when it was destroyed, it was never rebuilt. We find this happening at the exact time predicted by modern biblical chronology, 2400 B.C. Are you ready to see the Bible to come to life in archaeology? Following on the heels of the compelling evidence we have seen for Israel in the wilderness, we now come to the beginning of the Conquest of Canaan. This month we discuss Jericho, where the Bible says walls fell down around an inhabited city, which was then burned by Joshua and his men. After this time, the text indicates that it was not rebuilt for some significant period of time. All of this should not be hard to find in archaeology. Once again, the Bible runs into trouble at the traditional dates. No walls, no burning, not even a city—nothing at all is present in archaeology at Jericho within the traditional timeframe. This leads to some troubling questions. Could the biblical tale actually be just invented "history" or even "propaganda" for the nation of Israel? Currently, the "...strong consensus among scholars is that the Book of Joshua holds little historical value." This is a real problem for Bible-believers. Or, we should say, was a real problem. Once you get the biblical chronology straight, and look at the right dates, the Bible indeed comes to life. A unified story is told in detail by both the biblical text and by the archaeologists themselves. And what a story it is! Yes, there was a city, and yes, the walls fell. Yes, the ancient city was burned with fire at the very time predicted by modern biblical chronology, and after that time the city was not inhabited again for a long, long time. Come and see! SPECIAL FEATURE The globe is warming, glaciers are melting, and oceans are rising. However, the mainstream narrative about "climate change" is exceedingly dangerous, because it in no way addresses the true problem we as a global community appear to be facing. A well-dressed lady, probably in her late 60s, picked up a copy of Dr. Aardsma's book Aging: Cause and Cure at a display table. She surveyed the covers, and then set the book down saying, "That's just too much." Talking about aging as a curable disease does sound crazy today. Crazier still is the idea that the cure for aging is now known, and topping it all off, that the cure has been found through data contained in the ancient book of Genesis. Looking back through time, we can see that although many world-changing ideas and discoveries initially sounded too crazy to be true, those ideas eventually became accepted as fact, and those discoveries are now embraced by society. After leaving Egypt, the Israelites journeyed along the north Sinai road. After three encampments, they struck out into the wilderness under Moses' direction. They found no water after a journey of three days, but then came to a place called Marah, where there was water. However, the water at Marah was bitter and they could not drink it. The Bible records that Moses then threw a tree in the water and the water became drinkable (sweet). Where did this happen? How could bitter water become sweet?
