S2 E22 - Don't Be A Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood | 30th Anniversary | Sup? Media Reviews Podcast
4/21/2026
This week on Sup? Media Reviews, we're celebrating the 30th anniversary of Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood — the latest stop in our April Fools comedy anniversary series. The Wayans brothers took the hood films that defined early 90s Black cinema — Boyz n the Hood, Menace II Society, Juice, & more — and flipped them completely on their head. But does it still hold up 30 years later?
We're getting into the cultural legacy of the Wayans family, why this film is unapologetically made for a specific audience, what that 80% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is really telling us, and whether this comedy classic is worth revisiting in 2026.
📝 Note: This episode was originally planned as a review of Girl 6 (1996) — but due to licensing issues surrounding Prince's estate, the film is virtually unavailable to stream in the US. We made the pivot and have zero regrets.

S2 E21 - Ferris Bueller's Day Off | 40th Anniversary | Sup? Media Reviews Podcast
4/14/2026
🎉 It's the 40th anniversary of a certified classic — and I finally watched it for the first time!
Ferris Bueller's Day Off turns 40 this year, and to celebrate, I brought in a very special guest: my dad! He was a teen when this movie came out, and he has fond memories & four decades of history. I came in with fresh eyes and zero nostalgia. Together we asked the only questions that matters: does it still hold up and is it worth revisiting?
In this episode we get into:
🎬 What makes Ferris Bueller such an enduring cultural touchstone
🤔 Whether Ferris is actually a lovable rebel — or something else entirely
💔 The real heart of the movie
👨👧 A multi-generational take with differing opinions
Ferris Bueller's Day Off is currently streaming on Paramount Plus and Hoopla — as of the recording of this episode.
💬 We want to hear from you! Did you grow up with this movie? Does Ferris still hold up for you? And be honest… have YOU ever faked a sick day this hard? Drop your thoughts, favorite moments, and hot takes in the comments below.

S2 E19 - Mean Girls | Sup? Media Reviews Podcast
3/24/2026
"She doesn't even go here." But you do — and that means you have excellent taste. 🎀
This week on Sup? Media Reviews, Kiara is joined by her sisters Arabia and Savanna for a full review of the 2004 cult classic Mean Girls. Written by Tina Fey and featuring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and one of the most iconic casts of the 2000s — this one is personal.
We break the movie down from setup to climax, get into the casting facts you might not know, and have a real conversation about what makes this film a classic and what hasn't aged so gracefully. We also share how this movie became a genuine bonding moment for the three of us — and why we're still quoting it to this day.
By the end, we weigh in on the Rotten Tomatoes scores, give our personal ratings, and answer the two questions we ask every episode: is it worth a rewatch, and does it still hold up?
We want to hear from you too — drop your favorite quote from the movie in the comments, and let us know whether you think Mean Girls still holds up in 2026. 👇 🔔 Next up on Sup? S2 E18 - Phat Girlz | 20th Anniversary Special | Sup? Media Reviews Podcast
3/17/2026
We're taking it back to 2006 to continue our Women's History Month series — and this one is personal. I'm revisiting Phat Girlz, the plus-size rom-com starring Mo'Nique, on its 20th anniversary!
From diet culture and internalized fatphobia to cross-cultural beauty standards and one of Mo'Nique's most underrated performances, this movie has a lot more going on under the surface than people give it credit for.
But the real question is — does Phat Girlz still hold up today? In this episode of Sup? Media Reviews, I get into the characters, the themes, why the critics got it wrong, and what this movie still has to say in 2026. We want to hear from you — did you see this when it came out? Does it still resonate? Drop your thoughts in the comments! 👇🏾
