Originally from Canada, OUDi is a Nashville-based artist whose sound combines elements of industrial pop, gothic drama, and dark cinema. Since releasing her debut album "Everybody Dies" in 2024, OUDi has amassed over 500,000 streams and landed on multiple Apple Music Editorial playlists.
On March 20th, OUDi dropped her latest single entitled "ONLY TATTOO." The catchy, romantic goth anthem takes listeners on a journey through that feeling of going from lovers to strangers with someone you were once close to. The song is already making waves, nearing 25,000 Spotify streams and 400 playlist adds shortly after its release.
In this episode, OUDi talks with Mike about her musical journey from Canada to Nashville, including how she got into industrial music, attending an inspiring Vancouver concert of Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age, meeting and working with Dave Ogilvie (NIN, Skinny Puppy), memories from her time in Jakalope and Sons of Daughters, finding her voice with OUDi, making "ONLY TATTOO," processing love, loss, grief, and more.

Episode 206: Gouged

On episode 206 of March Forth with Mike Bauman, Mike chats with Gouged!
Formed in 2020, Gouged is a deathcore band based in the Pacific Northwest. Since their formation, Gouged has been honing their craft and making a name for themselves in the metal landscape.
In 2022, Gouged gave the deathcore community a glimpse of what was on the horizon with their single "Villain." Teaming up with Slam Worldwide for the music video, "Villain" has garnered nearly 8,000 YouTube views and 18,000 streams on Spotify. The band would go to release multiple singles leading up to their 2024 EP entitled DOOM//GLOOM, which spawned heavy hitters like "Thy Flesh Consumed" and "Heavy Weight."
After dropping the single "Heathen" in September 2024, Gouged has continued to build a following in the Pacific Northwest and beyond with live shows. In 2025, they hit the road with A Moments Notice for "The West Coast Damnation Tour," and announced this February that they have signed to Overshadow.
On Friday, March 13th, Gouged dropped their latest single entitled "This Hell, Your Home," part of a forthcoming EP inspired by the emperor Mithridates, known as "The Poison King."

Based in Central Valley California, Ourselves Among Others is a metalcore band who dropped their album entitled "Infinite" this past August. From the introspective nature of "Sink Me Down," to the heartfelt message in "Stay Another Day," "Infinite" showcased the band's ethereal, cinematic sound that's catching on with modern metal fans.
As part of a collaborative and talented California/West Coast metal scene, Ourselves Among Others has been part of The Artery Foundation Winterfest, as well as played shows with the likes of A Moments Notice, Gouged, Seaside Massacre, Solely Veil, and CODE:WORDS, among others.
On February 6th, Ourselves Among Others dropped their latest single entitled "Drain," which was produced, mixed, and mastered by Nick Miller. The band shot the music video for "Drain" themselves, and it has since gone on to amass over 14,000 views on YouTube with BVTV. On April 3rd, Ourselves Among Others is set to release their new single "Parasite."

Jay Williz is a California-based rapper, as well as the singer of the genre-defying modern metal band BLVKOUT. After racking up over 50,000 streams in their debut year, BLVKOUT was named "Best Punk Band of 2024" and "Best Metal Band of 2024" by The North Bay Bohemian. Additionally, Jay - who has an extensive catalog as a rapper - took home "Best Hip Hop Artist of 2024" after the release of his introspective rap album Exhume:Rebirth.

Hailing from West Philadelphia, King Shampz is a rap artist and CEO of Dead Wrong Records, a label which he started with his brother and producer Azzan.
Since dropping the LP Dawn of the Dead on the Dead Wrong Records imprint in December 2020, King Shampz has continued to garner attention from the hip hop world with subsequent releases over the years. His 2024 album Rise of Corleone included the singles "Like That" and "West Philly 187," showcasing King Shampz' cadence and West Philly roots. The music video for "West Philly 187" drummed up a lot of organic attention on YouTube, helping widen his audience.
On January 27th, King Shampz dropped his latest EP entitled Hustler's Renaissance Vol. 1." The 5-track record highlights having a hustler's mentality, persevering through trauma, and street life. It ends with Shampz sending a positive message to fans on the track "Struggle And Tears" to not give up and keep going.

Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Forge the Sun is a progressive alternative rock band that formed in 2020. With influences including Deftones, Tool, Rush, Evanescence, Killswitch Engage, In Flames, Smashing Pumpkins, and Queens of the Stone Age, Forge the Sun has created a genre-bending sound that's resonating in the Midwest and beyond.
In 2023, Forge the Sun released their debut album Heart of the Sunrise, followed by their live record Forge the Sun Live at Zeroes and Ones Studios in 2024. In addition to those albums, the band has released numerous singles over the years. Their latest single entitled "Toadhoney" just dropped on January 16th.

An East Nashville native, Brian Brown is a hip hop artist based in the Music City who's been active for over a decade.
Since the release of his debut EP 7:22 in 2014, Brown's music has captured the attention of his native Nashville and beyond. Voted "Best Hip-Hop Artist" in the Reader's Poll of the Nashville Scene in 2018, Brown's eclectic musical taste has been on full display with his catalog over the years, which includes the full-length albums Journey (2020) and BBGonProfit (2023). His skills have taken him to festivals like SXSW and A3C, while his song "Come on In" off the aforementioned Journey record is nearing 1.4 million streams on Spotify alone.

Formed in 2011, Light The Fire is a band from Dallas, Texas that fuses elements of metalcore and melodic hardcore for their own blend of heavy music. On November 22nd, 2024, Light The Fire released their latest record entitled Death Won't Be The End Of Me. The EP was recorded at Saosin guitarist Beau Burchell's California home studio.
In 2025, the band released three new singles, the latest of which is the fiery "Inhuman." Released in December, "Inhuman" already has over 31,000 Spotify streams, while the accompanying music video has over 21,000 YouTube views.

After dropping their EP entitled Shells in 2024, Seaside Massacre released their cover of Hatebreed's "Destroy Everything" and latest single "First Blood" in 2025. Comprised of Matthew Paul (vocals), Rob Ferreira (guitars), Vito Rauseo (guitars), Ant Salcedo (bass), and Mark Birkelbach (drums), Dead Fish Handshake is a rock band out of the Northeast in the United States.
After coming onto the scene with their debut entitled Across State Lines in 2011, Dead Fish Handshake teamed up with Clint Lowery (Sevendust, Dark New Day) to produce their 2013 EP The Sixes. Following the release of their 2020 album Lies...and All That Jazz, Dead Fish Handshake went on a hiatus.
Having gone through lineup changes and their own life events, Dead Fish Handshake is back together for their first release in five years. On November 7th, the band dropped their brand new single entitled "Traveling at the Speed of Life." The single is the first from Dead Fish Handshake's forthcoming LP Safe in the Harms of Love, which is due out in 2026.

With inspiration ranging from bands like Dayseeker, Bring Me The Horizon, and Bad Omens, After Hour Animals is a rock/metalcore band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin that formed in 2020.
Since releasing their EP "Remember This" on 3/20/20, After Hour Animals has taken their music from the shores of Lake Michigan to the globe. Their 2020 single "All It Takes" has topped 1.1 million streams on Spotify alone, while their single "Dangerous" is over 800,000 Spotify streams since its December 2022 release.
Over the past two years since their last appearance on March Forth with Mike Bauman, After Hour Animals has undergone lineup changes, and been hard at work releasing new music for their fans. On October 10th, After Hour Animals dropped their new EP entitled Total Disconnect, which features an overall darker, more ethereal vibe to their sound.

Hailing from Long Island, New York, NUMBFLOWER is an emo/grunge band that formed in 2023. Melding their love for 90s grunge, 2000s emo, and alternative rock, NUMBFLOWER is developing a sound they love from their collective musical experiences that's already resonating with listeners in a short period of time.
In August of 2024, NUMBFLOWER stormed out of the gate with their emotionally charged single "LEAD" with Prairie Fire. Since that time, the Long Island-based rockers have dropped a total of six singles, building their audience through energetic live shows and captivating songs.
On September 26th, NUMBFLOWER dropped their latest single entitled "REMEDY." The song is an emotional journey which deals with the pain and confusion of being discarded by someone you love.
In this episode, Dj Deane (vocals, guitar) and Dan LeBrun (guitar) from NUMBFLOWER talk with Mike about what this past year has been like rolling out their music, the meaning behind the singles they've released so far, bringing those songs to live audiences, the Long Island music scene, the deets behind the music video and lyrics for "REMEDY," persevering through tough times, mental health, and more.

Featuring Copper Teeth, Silver & Gold, Eyes of Salt, and Bitchflower, The Beautiful Things the Cold Brings is a cohesive examination of grief, both lyrically and musically.
In this conversation, Jaren (vocals, rhythm guitar) talks with Mike about how he got into music, including being gifted a Fender Stratocaster from a distant cousin when he was younger, the formation of Talking Point, exploring grief on The Beautiful Things the Cold Brings, men's mental health, finding healthy outlets for our emotions, and more.

Hailing from Mike's hometown of Toledo, Ohio, Ryan (vocals, drums, producer) and Tropic Bombs stormed onto the Toledo music scene back in 2011. They quickly built a dedicated fan base with their high-energy live shows and fusion of rock, reggae, hip-hop, and elements of metalcore vocals. Tropic Bombs released their debut LP Nuclear Honeymoon in 2012, EP Return to Bomber Bay in 2014, and several singles in the years since.
For their forthcoming LP entitled Escape From Bomber Bay, Tropic Bombs decided to give music fans a unique offering. In addition to doing limited edition, rare vinyl variants limited to a total of 250, the gatefold vinyls of Escape From Bomber Bay will open up into a board game that accompanies the new record.
In this episode, Ryan talks with Mike about all things Escape From Bomber Bay, including finally getting the vinyls in hand this Fall, the making of the music on this album, the final sound production on the record, how 80s action movies inspired the vibe and cover art, his desire to give fans a truly unique musical offering with rare vinyl and an original board game, and more.

Hailing from Australia, Gavin is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, and frontman of Sydney indie rock outfit Gavin Bowles & The Distractions.
Comprised of Bowles (vocals, guitar), Gavin's brother Simon Bowles (drums), Cameron Hill (bass), and Michael Crudgington (guitar), Gavin Bowles & The Distractions blends elements of 90's rock and alternative with power pop and pub rock for their own unique sound. Additionally, similar to the lighthearted nature of bands like Green Day, Blink-182, and Foo Fighters, Gavin Bowles & The Distractions isn't afraid to show their sense of humor and doesn't take themselves too seriously, which is evident in their music videos.
On October 17th, Gavin Bowles & The Distractions will drop their new album entitled Are We Having Fun Yet?, the follow-up to their 2023 LP Phoning It In. Featuring songs like "Love Is Dumb," "Sober," and "She Hates My Guts," Are We Having Fun Yet? tackles themes of relationships, internal struggles, burnout, and work/life balance.
In celebration of the album release, Gavin Bowles & The Distractions will kick off their Australian "Are We Having Fun Yet?" Tour on 10/24 at Bootleggers in Newtown, New South Wales, Australia.

Formed in 2018, Slingshot is an emo/post-hardcore band from Southern California. Comprised of Baumgartner (guitar & vocals), She-Ra (vocals), Armand Morillo (bass & vocals), and Annaleece Arellano (drums), this lineup of Slingshot has built a following through energetic live shows and an implementation of alternative, punk, and hardcore into their sound.
After releasing the EP Dawn of Decline and split EP Invaders From Uranus! with their friends in Split Image in 2023, Slingshot built on that momentum in 2024 with more live shows and new tunes "157AM," "Sons of Yoren," and "Rorschach." This year, Slingshot dropped their latest EP entitled Don't Get Lost Before Dusk in May, followed by their "Don't Get Lost" Tour.
On October 1st, Slingshot released a new music video for their song "Sound of Metal." The video was shot and edited by Baumgartner, and produced by his production company, Reelverse Productions. On October 20th, Slingshot is set to release their live EP entitled Dawn To Dusk, which was recorded at their homecoming show in Murietta, California from the "Don't Get Lost" Tour.
