While the current 2026 Winter Olympic Games are ongoing, we’re reminded of the time Boston was in the running to bring the 2024 Summer Olympics to the city. Boston beat out L.A., D.C., and San Francisco to be the official U.S. bid. After opposition grew and a movement ensued, a vote was made to terminate Boston’s bid. Massachusetts State Auditor Diana DiZoglio continues her legal battle to audit the state Legislature, a measure approved by 72% of voters in 2024. DiZoglio’s office filed a lawsuit this week with the state’s high court to force the Legislature to hand over financial documents as part of an audit into lawmakers' businesses. Additionally, DiZoglio has repeatedly sought approval from Attorney General Andrea Campbell to take the House and Senate to court or to appoint an independent, special assistant attorney general to no avail. Are you for or against the use of cameras in public spaces? It appears people are divided on the issue. Late last year residents in Cambridge, MA expressed privacy concerns over the use of traffic cameras that collected data, resulting in the city suspending their use of Flock cameras. Yet it was reported that Flock cameras were particularly useful in aiding authorities identifying the Brown University shooter back in December. Delgado-Garcia died accidentally of blunt-force injuries to the head following a boxing training exercise during the academy. State Police have faced criticism in recent years for what many call a paramilitary style training structure that has left many former recruits hurt.
