There will be hard things in your life. Jesus promised there would be. Who do we turn to when we have no more strength to face life’s challenges? O Lord, help me again! Keep showing me such mercy. For I am in anguish, always in tears, and I’m worn out with weeping. I’m becoming old because of grief; my health is broken. I’m exhausted! My life is spent with sorrow, my years with sighing and sadness. Because of all these troubles, I have no more strength. My inner being is so weak and frail. My enemies say, “You are nothing!” Even my friends and neighbors hold me in contempt! They dread seeing me, and they look the other way when I pass by. I am totally forgotten, buried away like a dead man, discarded like a broken dish thrown in the trash. I overheard their whispered threats, the slander of my enemies. Welcome to week 4 of our meditation through Psalm 31 God is drawing you into a beautiful place of freedom. We don’t have to suffer any longer from the yoke of slavery. We have been set free! In mercy you have seen my troubles, and you have cared for me; even during this crisis in my soul I will be radiant with joy, filled with praise for your love and mercy. You have kept me from being conquered by my enemy; you broke open the way to bring me to freedom, into a beautiful, broad place. - Psalm 31:7-8 TPT It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed]. - Galatians 5:1 AMP But I have trusted in Your lovingkindness; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. - Psalm 13:5 NASB Shout for joy, O heavens! And rejoice, O earth! Break forth into joyful shouting, O mountains! For the LORD has comforted His people And will have compassion on His afflicted - Isaiah 49:13 NASB Ask Holy Spirit to show you any areas in your life you need freedom. The same God who delivered the Israelites from the Egyptians, is the same God who delivers you from trouble. Where does God wants to be your rock, your deliverer? Peter asked Jesus if he was expected to forgive someone up to seven times. How did Jesus reply? Not just seven, “but up to seventy times seven.” Then Peter came and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus *said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. - Matthew 18:21-22. Jesus accomplished what the law could never do on its own; free us from our sin. In Him, all debts are forgiven. “The kingdom of God is like a king who decided to square accounts with his servants. God supplies for ALL of our needs, not just simply food for our bodies, but for every area of our lives. What is God showing you about this “daily bread?” Jesus answered by quoting Deuteronomy: “It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God’s mouth.” - Matthew 4:4 MSG I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. When we pray “on Earth as it is in Heaven”, we are praying for the things Jesus desires. The very things he did as he walked on Earth. It’s the love of God crashing into people’s lives, causing radical change. Healing the sick, raising the dead, cleansing lepers, and casting out demons. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed, - Luke 4:18 NASB 1995 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be death; there will no longer be sorrow and anguish, or crying, or pain; for the former order of things has passed away.” - Revelation 21:4 AMP Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. - John 5:19 NASB 1995 We also read from Revelation 21:1-4 and Colossians 3:1-2. God’s kingdom is not of this world, yet we are called to seek it first before everything else. This week, we open by reading Matthew 6:9-13 from the Amplified Bible. That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit. When we pray, we recognize God for who He is, our Heavenly Father. In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. For you, O Lord, are supreme over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. - Psalm 97:9 NLT Hallowed Be His Name! God is supreme over all the Earth. He is Healer (Psalm 103:2-3); He is the King of Kings (Revelation 17:14); He is Merciful and Compassionate (Psalm 145:8-9); He is our Strong Fortress (2 Samuel 22:33); He is Great (Psalm 147:4-5); He is Love (1 John 4:8). You are a child of the Living God. You are a part of this family. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. - Romans 8:15-17 NASB When you look at Father God, do you see Jesus? We, as believers, are filled with the Holy Spirit. It is by His power, active and alive within us, that we are able to be a light to the world, and salt to the Earth. He leads and guides, provides wisdom and encouragement, discernment, strength, encouragement, and so much more. He is our everything. He is The Spirit of God, and we honor and adore Him. As we wrap up this series on The Holy Spirit, we meditate on many of the verses of scripture testifying to His interactions among us. May you be blessed to know it is the same Spirit living within you right now, which lived within the followers of Jesus we read about throughout the book Acts.
