When we're at our best, we want a coach that will shake us up to do the challenging things that we must to grow! Church--listen up! Hebrews 12:12-17 gives us our Coach's commands to run the race with endurance and to make the most of the Lord’s discipline.

People react in unhelpful ways when we face hardship in the Christian life. We wonder where God is, or what He’s up to, or what went wrong with Him! But God insists on training and correcting us as His children -- and we have to course-correct our minds and hearts even as we endure!

Easter isn’t just for celebrating Jesus and going home; it’s for running the race with Jesus, with endurance, together!

Many people wish for a stronger faith: a faith that sees great things happen, and that doesn’t fail under pressure. If you wish for a stronger, confident, braver faith, take heart from the legacy left by God’s people! Join us this Sunday as we dive into the last section of Hebrews 11. The work of God in them, by their faith in Him, still has further chapters to be written – in us!

As we socially disband and self-isolate, strengthening our faith individually leaves our faith still lacking—less whole than God meant for it to be. But have you noticed that even an extraordinary man like Moses committed himself to the shared faith of God’s people? We're combining last week's snowed-out message with this week's verses, walking through Hebrews 11:23-31 – and it will be great to see everyone gather again in worship this Sunday!

Time and again, older generations can get cynical about younger generations … particularly when they lose sight of God’s promises. But when a generation knows God's promises for those that are to come? A renewed faith in God’s promises brings fresh faith in God’s work for future generations! We'll take a fresh look at the forward-looking faith of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph this Sunday in Hebrews 11:17-22 – and we can't wait to see you!

"This world is not my home, I'm just a-passin' through" … is an unexpected song to sing, when you feel really comfortable where you live! But faith in God has this effect: it changes how settled we feel here on earth. Are you willing to live as a stranger here – to be a citizen in heaven? Take a look at Hebrews 11:13-16 before jumping in with us this coming Sunday, and pray that God will set our hearts on "His kingdom come, His will be done!"

Sometimes we read about those "great saints” of the Bible, and they feel WAY beyond our ability to connect with them. But these people found favor with God the only way it comes to any of us: by faith! Walk with us through Hebrews 11:4-7 this Sunday as we look back at Abel, Enoch, and Noah: commended and called righteous by God, by faith.

We're starting a new series in Hebrews 11 this Sunday, picking up where we'd left off last year, to dive deep into the lives of people who left us examples of how to walk by faith – jump in with us and invite someone to join you! We’re not meant just to know about Jesus; we’re meant to live for Him, and live WELL for Him! To live Christian lives that will get through hard times AND please God, we’ve gotta learn to live by faith.

Have you ever gotten excited about a gift and forgotten to appreciate the giver? Ever sneak a gift to open before its time? We sometimes rush to what Jesus has to give us without resting in what He came to accomplish. But this Sunday, in Matthew 3:13-17, don't rush past Jesus’ work for our salvation—what Jesus came to do, how He came to do it, and why He came to do it. See you Sunday!

When people come to meet Jesus, He's not always what they expect – yet He's far better! How about for the church? God created His church; do people find in us, at East Bay, what He intended? Our VISION SUNDAY Service will help springboard us into the rest of the year ahead, drawing us into God's call to Be the Church as He means for us to be in His Word. We're eager for you to dive into this call with us!

The flesh, the world, and the devil all work to distract us from preparing the way for Jesus in our lives – and in others’ lives through us. As we gather this Sunday and apply Matthew 3:1-12 in our lives, let's prepare the way for Jesus – in our own lives, and for others – the way that John the Baptist did.

We can struggle to connect with and trust in people who don’t understand hardship like we’ve been through. But our Savior can walk with us in our hardship as someone who has known trials––from his earliest days. We're walking through Matthew 2:13-23 this Sunday; may this message bring special encouragement to those carrying heavy burdens into the new year.

Let's not ignore the foundation of God's promises that Jesus came to stand on! With Matthew's Gospel, the Bible introduces Jesus as the long-awaited, much-anticipated Fulfiller of God’s promises. We're excited for you to join us this Sunday as we look to Jesus together in Matthew 1:1-17.

Lets remember Paul's words in Acts 20:35, when he said: "... and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' "
