Goodness and Mercy Will FollowPsalm 23:6 – “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Goodness and mercy are like God’s escorts—they follow you everywhere. You don’t have to chase blessings—they follow you when you walk in His presence. And ultimately, your destination is secure: dwelling with Him forever. Turmoil may shake today, but it cannot touch your eternal future. His presence guarantees both daily goodness and eternal security. Start your mornings expecting goodness and mercy. End your nights knowing eternity is secure.

A Table in the Presence of EnemiesPsalm 23:5 – “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”This is a picture of God’s provision and favor. The table isn’t hidden from enemies—it’s in their presence. God blesses you openly, showing that His favor outweighs every attack. The oil represents anointing, and the overflowing cup represents abundance. Turmoil may try to strip you, but God prepares blessings even in battle. Don’t focus on the enemy—focus on the table. Look for God’s blessings today, even in hard places.

Fear No EvilPsalm 23:4 – “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me.” Notice the wording—through the valley. We don’t camp there, we don’t die there—we pass through it. And we don’t walk alone. God’s presence is the reason we can face valleys without fear. Shadows may look intimidating, but they cannot harm you. Fear is the shadow, but faith reminds us that God is with us. When fear rises, declare: “I will not be afraid. God is with me.” Let His presence drive out fear.

Paths of Righteousness Psalm 23:3b – “He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” God doesn’t leave His people wandering. His Spirit guides us in the right path—not just for our sake, but for His glory. The enemy wants us to stumble in chaos, but God’s presence leads us into righteousness. When David says “for His name’s sake,” it means God’s reputation is on the line. He is faithful to lead you rightly because His name is faithful and true. Each morning, ask Him: “Lord, guide me today.” Trust that He will never lead you astray.

He Restores My Soul Psalm 23:3a – “He restoreth my soul.” The word restore means to bring back to its original condition. God doesn’t just patch us up; He makes us whole. Your soul—your mind, your will, your emotions—may feel broken, but He is the healer of broken hearts. Think of a restorer taking an old, weathered piece of furniture. It looks beyond the scratches and sees its true value. That’s how God sees you. In turmoil, He doesn’t discard you—He restores you. Bring your hurt, confusion, and weakness to Him. He is not ashamed of your brokenness; He is ready to restore you.

Green Pastures and Still Waters Psalm 23:2 – “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” David paints a picture of safety. Sheep only lie down when they feel secure—when the shepherd is watching. And still waters are not turbulent or rushing—they’re calm and refreshing. God knows that in turmoil, our souls need rest, and He provides it. Sometimes He has to “make us” lie down. We resist rest because we’re busy worrying or trying to fix things on our own. But God, in His love, gently brings us back to green pastures. His peace is not found in avoiding trouble but in learning to trust Him enough to rest. Today, carve out a moment to pause in His presence. Lay your burdens down, breathe deeply, and let His Spirit restore calm.

The Lord Is My Shepherd Psalm 23:1 – “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”This verse means two things. First, God takes ownership of us—He knows us by name, He tends to our needs, and He will not abandon us. Second, because He is our shepherd, we shall not lack what we truly need. That doesn’t mean we’ll always have everything we want, but it does mean that everything we need for life, for faith, and for strength, will be supplied. In times of turmoil, you may not know what tomorrow holds—but you know Who holds tomorrow. And when the Lord is leading, you can walk with confidence. He feeds you with His Word, guides you with His Spirit, and protects you with His hand. Today, when fear rises, declare with faith: “The Lord is my shepherd.” Speak it over your home, your family, and your future. That declaration alone shifts your focus from turmoil to trust.

How Easy It Is To Take The Lord's Name In Vain. When we as believers say or type "OMG" (which often stands for "Oh my God"), don’t realize we are using God’s name in a way that is casual rather than worshipful. Psalm 111:9 reminds us: "Holy and awesome is His name." If we truly honor and respect God, we should be mindful of how we speak about Him. Sometimes, words or expressions can become habits without us thinking about their deeper meaning.
