From Mass to Meaning: Spirituality in the Age of Digital Identity with Javier, Mexican entrepreneur

3/4/2026
"I feel like spirituality is shifting from something that was conditional and embedded in authority into something that it's more like wellness, self-care, a little bit like self-centered in a way. It's very often a truth that suits me rather than me surrendering to what actually is. So overall, I feel like religion is going beyond the institutions and still subject to the ego, to the self." We are having a series of conversations with meditators from our global community about the WCCM theme for 2026, The Future of Religion. This time, our guest is Javier, Mexican meditator & entrepreneur. Learn more about the 2026 WCCM Series 'The Future of Religion' at https://wccm.org/events/the-future-of-religion/#thefutureofreligion #wccmseries #contemplatives #contemplation #staycentred #valuescrisis----------- The WCCM is a global community of meditators united in a contemplative Christian tradition as taught by Fr. Christ as the Satguru: Moving Beyond the Ego in Meditation with Prof Peter Tyler

2/18/2026
This is a dialogue between Paola (WCCM Marketing) and Prof Peter Tyler, a long-time friend and companion of the World Community for Christian Meditation with an extensive academic career. Peter is presently Professor of Pastoral Theology and Spirituality at St Mary’s University, London. "Whenever I teach Christian spirituality, I always say there are two essential elements, two wings of the tradition. One is the desert monastic tradition. The other essential element is the one that forms the basis of the retreat, what's called the mystical tradition, a form of contemplation that's been around since the beginning of Christianity." Prof Peter Tyler will be leading a retreat titled 'Approaches to Meditation: Enriching Guidance from the wisdom of the Mystics', 28 April - 3 May, in Bonnevaux, France. God as a Synonym for Love: Rediscovering the Heart of Religion With Thomas Litzler

2/4/2026
"I think in religion, it's very important to understand that we're the main person in charge, we cannot delegate our spiritual growth. We cannot ask someone else to do it for us. It's not like a class teacher who is teaching us mathematics or history. When we are told something, this first step is of no importance, if we don't make something out of it and making something out of it is being able to build it in your own life from our center. And usually that means being able to share it somehow with other people. " Thomas reflects on the future of religion for him. Thomas, a meditator from France is responsible for a permaculture project at Bonnevaux Center for Peace. 1/28/2026
The life-changing gift of meditation is ever-new. We don’t have to look for novelty or get bored with what we have started, because we are always going deeper. With growing confidence, we feel our way forward as we let go of ego-control. We are feeling our way, led ever deeper into the ever-present origin. These talks are from a retreat held at Bonnevaux and led by Laurence Freeman in November 2025. Watch the first episode for free on WCCM+, WCCM video streaming platform. Taking Off the Edges: Why the Future of Religion is About Finding Safety

1/27/2026
In a world where we often scroll, work, or strive to avoid our deepest feelings, contemplative communities like WCCM offer a "bridge." They teach us how to sit with our humanness—our fear, our grief, and our joy—without judgment. "It’s helped me come back to religion... it’s a bridge between having nothing and being linked back into a community." Paul: A Contradiction like us? with Fr Laurence Freeman on WCCM+

1/14/2026
In this series of teachings, Fr Laurence Freeman connects the earthy #mysticism of Paul with our own inner journey, and explore how it changes the options we face about how we live. The old and the new self, the Mind of Christ, death and resurrection, liberty of spirit, the fruits and gifts of the Spirit, human relationships and life in community – these are some of the threads of Paul’s exuberant and profound vision of living our life as it can be lived. Conviviality with Laurence Freeman OSB on WCCM+ | Risk of Living Together Series First Talk

12/19/2025
Being convivial means friendliness, liveliness, hospitableness which are basic elements of happiness. We assume conviviality is intrinsic to human nature and interactions with others and if it breaks down it feels that something has gone wrong. Many people today feel that their life with others is becoming less convivial because of the suspicions, fear, prejudice, competitiveness which characterise a techno-scientific world where traditional ways of meeting have broken down. The Future of Religion with Fr Laurence Freeman

12/16/2025
Is religion finished? Or is it simply evolving? For too long, the role of faith has been dismissed as a pastime, an escape, or worse, a cause of conflict. But like art and music, we are hardwired for transcendence—and we can't be fully human without it. That changes the question: What is the Future of Religion? As contemplatives, we believe the answer lies in rediscovering the mystical core shared by every great tradition. Join our 2026 global theme, The Future of Religion, as we ask critical questions and explore new paths in collaboration with global thinkers. Our Conversation is in Heaven with Laurence Freeman for WCCM+

11/19/2025
Authentic spirituality is not above justice or human suffering. Spiritual truth is reflected in the gritty realities of the world whether it is honoured or denied. Feelings and relationships are part of our spiritual path but so too are social and political responsibilities. We are a single body, embodied in Christ. The old translation of St Paul`s phrase our conversation is in heaven sounds strange to us today. But reflect how our search for a peaceful world requires the recovery of the lost art of conversation – and we may see the link between silence and this fundamental value of civilisation.
