For the believer, there is nothing, no argument or justification that can be made for participating in Halloween! Many would like to believe it is just a night of family fun, parties and innocent pretending and magic where ghosts and children roam through the night, dressing up in costumes and canvassing the streets for candy. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Halloween springs out of superstition and intimidation, lies, fear and curses. The origins of the festival called Samhain, marked the end of summer and the beginning of the dark, cold days of winter for the Celtics. It was believed that on this night the lines between the living and the dead were blurred and ghosts of dead loved ones would appear. The Druids were the pagan priests who promoted those beliefs and their own interests by threatening the peasants into giving them a treat, (their winter food) or they would put curses on them. Hence, we have, the traditions of "Trick or Treat," which have gone through a demonic make-over, to look like a fun family night. Participation in this very obviously pagan holiday dedicated to the Devil and darkness is dangerous. Any agreement we make with the devil, through our words or participation is an abomination and an affront to the Holiness of God and gives the Evil One access to our lives and the lives of our children. Why does God warn us do strongly not to partake with the demons? Because He loves us and He knows that the Devil is setting his snare to catch us to devour us. Your solution: confess your disobedience, and repent. Ask God to set you free from the devil's plans to destroy you, and return to your true identity as the son or daughter of your Father, the Most High God. Jesus Himself admonishes us to be ready. "Therefore, you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect." (Lu. 12:14). The urgency of His coming has been lost in the midst of more pressing and urgent things that beset us. Massive deception, constant distractions, relationship breakdowns, the shaking of the nations, the cares of life, anxiety, failing health, and time speeding up. We have become consumed with eating and drinking and marrying and divorcing, and false teachers and lawlessness. Scoffers and those crying wolf have desensitized the masses from even thinking about Jesus coming back. But what is more relevant than the coming of the Lord? Jesus calls us to deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow Him. Jesus said he who desires to save his life will lose it and whoever loses his life for My sake will keep it. The faithful and wise servant is the one his master will find doing when he comes back. What will He find us doing when He returns to upset and destroy this world we were so deeply attached to? The Word of God seems to be full of contradictions. Jesus is called the Prince of Peace, yet He warns that He has come to send division, setting two against three in families and war in the place of peace. And what about rejecting the concept of man fear, as Paul declares in Galatians 1:10 "Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a servant of Christ." Then He says, "For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all that I might win the more;" I Cor. 9:19 How do these seeming contradictions work themselves out into one truth? We must understand that the Word of God is complete and does not contradict itself any more than God contradicts Himself. Truth is like a coin. The coin has two sides, heads and tails. Neither one is complete without the other. Both are true, as determined by the time and the context of the issue, as is often acknowledged in the use of a coin to determine and settle a matter. Why? Because both sides are considered of equal value. Only God has the wisdom to live peacefully within the context of His own determinations. The Red Sea Crossing is one of God's most well-known miracles. It is so big that we move it back from "so big" into the category of impossible and irrelevant to me and my life. The rapture is the "violent snatching away from danger." What is the danger we are being snatched away from? I Thess. 5:9 tells us that God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation. When will the rapture happen? No man knows the day or the hour; however, the references to trumpets lead us to believe it will occur at the time of the Feast of the Trumpets. (Lev. 23:23 This is one of the Fall feasts. There is also a reference to the last trumpet in Revelation 11:15 when the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of our Lord." More important than, when the Rapture is, is how do we get ready for the Rapture? Be ready! Occupy, keep on keeping on. He is coming! How exciting!

In the events of the last week, God has set the dividing line, a turning point - a sorting out, in the Harvest, the separation of the wheat from the tares, the sheep from the goats, and the godly from the ungodly. It is a sobering time, when many are lodged, like wheat beaten to the ground by fear and the winds of false doctrine. They are standing in the valley of decision. Their decision to believe what God has said or reject Him, choosing rather to believe what the devil has made life look like, will determine their eternal destiny. Love one another was the New Commandment Jesus gave His followers. He told them that one of the signs of the true church, that would prevail at the end or the age would be in the brotherly love that would be demonstrated by His followers. With deception being one of the halmarks of the last days, He knew the fruits of the Spirit could not be counterfieted. The joy, peace and sincere love of the brethern would identify the true church of Jesus Christ. The love that Jesus demonstrated when He laid down His life for us is the love that prevails against fear. His love knits us together. We are called to follow Him. Brotherly love requires surrender. Those who follow Him are willing to suffer patinetly to watch and wait for the answer to their prayer. Love waits for the return of the prodigals. It does not grow weary in well doing. It believes for the healing and restoration of relationships and for the Lord to prove His Faithfulness inspite of what things look like. We all know things in the world are not “right” and that our 6,000 years are pretty much up! One of the things Jesus said about the Last Days is that they would know we are His disciples by the love we have toward one another. He knew that Satan would be frantic as the end drew near. He would intensify his “divide and conquer” strategy to divide the people and set us up in opposition to one another. Matthew 24:10 tells is that in the last days, “many will be offended and will betray one another and will hate one another.” The Devil is “stirring the pot” of division, offense, and separation to destroy our love for one another and the power we have in unity. But Jesus said, “By their fruits you will know them." The fruit of the Spirit only grows on those who are abiding in the Vine. It is the antidote to hate, division and fear. Your loved ones may have gone from you, strayed away, fled, drifted, been seduced, and deceived. Their souls have been caught, taken away in cages, souls hunted like birds, deceived by the charms of the seducing spirits, the soul hunters. (Ezek. 13:17) How many of God’s sons and daughters have been seduced into leaving the safety of their father’s house to follow after another god? God has the same problem with us. Why would we stray away from the One True God to follow a stick or bow down to a stone and call them our god? They are bags of wind, false promises, illusions, enchantments, who crave the forbidden and cause us to follow after their fables and fairy tales. The battle for these lost sheep rages. How do we discern correctly what we are looking at when Jesus warned us that nothing is as it appears? Even those walking with Him and working in the Harvest field of souls may miss it. When Jesus came the first time, many missed it because they were looking for a Messiah who would settle the turmoil of the world they lived in and restore the earthly kingdom of Israel. They could not see or grasp what was going on because their perception was distorted by their preconceived ideas and perceptions of what the Messiah would look like. Even on the day of the Resurrection, His disciples didn’t recognize Him when he was walking right with them, because they were reasoning in their hearts. They were still looking for the missing body and why the tomb was empty. We can get caught up in our own entanglements of perception and become overwhelmed by life’s circumstances. We must learn to pay attention to who we are listening to. We must learn to walk in the Spirit and not use our old soul-software to try and figure out how to follow Jesus. We are all vulnerable to the shaking that is coming upon the earth. Looking back into the Word of God, the cycle of falling away from the “revelation of God” has always brought a Divine response to bring us back to a spiritual course of life and truth. We have witnessed a great falling away from justice and truth. Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint”, has come around to describe the loss of direction and desire for the Lord. He seems to get lost in the shuffle for “living your best live now.” Hosea 4:1 “Hear the Word of the Lord, For the LORD brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land, there is no truth or mercy or knowledge of God in the land.” “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” The people of God have been overtaken by a spirit of harlotry and covetousness, and idolatry. The lack of the knowledge of God or the Fear of the Lord has left us in a very dangerous place. It is a place where the shaking is beginning. The good news is that the LORD desires mercy and not sacrifice and knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” (Hosea 6:6) Ezra encourages us with the thought “that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage.
