9-7-25 - From Potter's Clay to Forest Cycles: Embracing Change
9/1/2025
The readings for this week for the Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost are Jeremiah 18:1-11 and Psalm 139:1-6, 13-18, or Deuteronomy 30:15-20 and Psalm 1, with Philemon 1:1-21, and Luke 14:25-33. This week we talk about the example of a dead tree and what that can teach us. What appears to be "dead" still can provide a lot to the living and is seen as a vital part of the tree cycle. It is a very important part for many parts of God's creation being part of a life/death/life cycle. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where do we need to put something down to allow something to grow? #FaithandSciPod

8-31-25 - What Flowering Plants Teach Us About Pride
8/25/2025
The readings for this week for the Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost are Jeremiah 2:4-13 and Psalm 81:1, 10-16, or Sirach 10:12-18 or Proverbs 25:6-7 and Psalm 112, with Hebrews 13:1-8, 15-16, and Luke 14:1, 7-14. This week we look at flowering plants. Have you ever considered that plants don't all flower at once? Why don't plants flower all summer long? How did plants get to a point of understanding when their "competition" was blooming so that they could make sure not to flower at the same time. There is a humbleness that we can see in nature that needs some exploring that we get into this week. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where is pride taking over your Sabbath? #FaithandSciPod

8-24-25 - Holy Pauses
8/18/2025
The readings for this week for the Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost are Jeremiah 1:4-10 and Psalm 71:1-6, or Isaiah 58:9b-14 and Psalm 103:1-8, with Hebrews 12:18-29, and Luke 13:10-17. This week we look at this history of Penicillin. We see that there were multiple people who saw potential in it but yet were not able to pursue studying it. The first major paper that goes through some of the benefits of Penicillin, didn't lead to a major breakthrough right away. There was a period of rest to process what had been learned and then it appeared it was something to be pursued. We as people need to be able to take our Sabbath in order to do the same. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where do you take and when do you take your Sabbath? #FaithandSciPod

8-17-25 - Sour Grapes: A Climate Wake-Up Call
8/11/2025
The readings for this week for the Tenth Sunday after Pentecost are Isaiah 5:1-7 and Psalm 80:1-2, 8-19, or Jeremiah 23:23-29 and Psalm 82, with Hebrews 11:29-12:2, and Luke 12:49-56. This week we look at our environment. It can no longer be ignored. We must address that we need to take care of the place that we live in before we lose it. If we are truly following Christ, we must be willing to give up what we know as comfortable and move into a place that may seem challenging but is following closer to what God is wanting us to do. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

8-10-25 - Prepared for Flight: When God's Gifts Meet the Moment
8/4/2025
The readings for this week for the Ninth Sunday after Pentecost are Isaiah 1:1, 10-20 and Psalm 50:1-8, 22-23, or Genesis 15:1-6 and Psalm 33:12-22, with Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-16, and Luke 12:32-40. This week we look at being prepared. The Wright Brothers' didn't expect to be the people who would fly the first manned flight but through things throughout their lives and not be intimidated by the task at hand, they were able to be the first ones. With our faith, we need to put ourselves into positions where the gifts that God has given us, can be used and seen in the world around us. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

8-3-25 - Co-Migration and Community
7/28/2025
The readings for this week for the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost are Hosea 11:1-11 and Psalm 107:1-9, 43, or Ecclesiastes 1:2, 12-14; 2:18-23 and Psalm 49:1-12, with Colossians 3:1-11, and Luke 12:13-21. This week we look at Co-Migration. This has been observed in multiple species and is being noticed that it is happening more due to the fact of how our climate is changing. This leads us into a discussion of making sure that we are working together and not becoming focused only on "me". If we can focus on working together, the chances for us all growing are much higher. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

7-27-25 - Finding your Song
7/21/2025
The readings for this week for the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost are Hosea 1:2-10 and Psalm 85, or Genesis 18:20-32 and Psalm 138, with Colossians 2:6-15, (16-19), and Luke 11:1-13. This week we look at bird calls. Just like people, there are many different ways in which birds communicate. To do this, birds have to learn many different calls and songs to be able to connect with birds of the same species and other species as well. This is all used so that they can communicate well with other birds. When we are trying to connect with God, are we learning all the different calls that God is wanting us to? Are we learning to communicate with God and others effectively? Are we learning the vocabulary and the practice of different ways of communicating with God? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. Remember to answer this week's question:

7-20-25 - The Martha Trap: How Busyness Silences Climate Warnings
7/14/2025
The readings for this week for the sixth Sunday after Pentecost are Amos 8:1-12 and Psalm 52, or Genesis 18:1-10a and Psalm 15, with Colossians 1:15-28, and Luke 10:38-42. This week we look at the history of Climate Change. We have ignored the warnings that have been put out for generations and still don't want to change. Are we too busy to look into the data or change our ways? If we are wanting to be more like Mary, we might need to slow down and think about some of this data and how we are going to change to take care of the palace we have been called to take care of. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. Remember to answer this week's question:

7-13-25 - The Bloody Science of Showing Mercy
7/7/2025
The readings for this week for the Fifth Sunday after Pentecost are Amos 7:7-17 and Psalm 82, or Deuteronomy 30:9-14 and Psalm 25:1-10, with Colossians 1:1-14, and Luke 10:25-37. This week we look at blood. We talk about how the discovery of blood types and how to preserve blood for blood transfusions has been huge in human history along with the current progress on making a universal snake antivenom. The work that has gone into these is selfless work to make sure that we are showing compassion and mercy for future generations. If we lose sight of that, we lose sight of the mission that we have been called into. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. Remember to answer this week's question:
"Where do you show or have you seen mercy in your community? #FaithandSciPod

7-6-25 - Are We Listening to Creation's Silent Cries
6/30/2025
The readings for this week for the Fourth Sunday after Pentecost are 2 Kings 5:1-14 and Psalm 30, or Isaiah 66:10-14 and Psalm 66:1-9, with Galatians 6:(1-6), 7-16, and Luke 10:1-11, 16-20. This week we look at how disconnected we have become with the rest of creation. In doing that, we miss the praises and the pains that they have to offer that could teach us so much about our creator and how we can walk out our faith closer to God. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

After advertising and talking about it for months, I was able to attend the Gustavus Adolphus Faith, Science, and Ethics Camps for 2025 again this year. I had an amazing time interacting with this amazing group of young adults and hearing how they see Faith and Science working together and also the questions they have. It was also fun to listen and think about sugar and how it affects us. I believe listening to this, gives us a glimpse of the questions that some of the younger people are wrestling with in regards to Faith and Science. Hopefully, this encourages all of us to keep the conversation going.
Thank you so much,
Tyler Bublitz

6-29-25 - No Looking Back: The Science of Spiritual Endurance
6/23/2025
The readings for this week for the Third Sunday after Pentecost are 2 Kings 2:1-2, 6-14 and Psalm 77:1-2, 11-20, or 1 Kings 19:15-16, 19-21 and Psalm 16, with Galatians 5:1, 13-25, and Luke 9:51-62. This week we look at how our bodies are designed to be endurance athletes. There are great modifications that have happened to our bodies to allow this to happen. From that we then must do the hard work of actually training the body and the mind to be that type of athlete. This is similar to our faith in that we have to keep training and working our faith in order for us to be ready for the work that God is calling us into. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where are you getting out of your comfort zone in your faith? #FaithandSciPod

6-22-25 - Finding God in Creation's Trust
6/16/2025
The readings for this week for the Day of Pentecost are 1 Kings 19:1-4, (5-7), 8-15a and Psalm 42 and 43, or Isaiah 65:1-9 and Psalm 22:19-28, with Galatians 3:23-29, and Luke 8:26-39. This week we look at how animals have to trust that God is going to take care of them. We see this in how many birds especially migrate that they have to trust that God is going to provide for them to be able to survive. We also see where God then is calling us humans to help when nature isn't able to provide for itself like the Bald Eagle Conservation story. When doing this it allows for us to better understand and see God while getting close to our mission. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
"Are we really doing everything that God is calling us to do?" #FaithandSciPod

6-15-25 - The Danger of One-Dimensional Faith
6/9/2025
The readings for this week for the Day of Pentecost are Proverbs 8:1-4, 22-31, Psalm 8, Romans 5:1-5, and John 16:12-15. This week we look at the need for continual growth. This is why science keeps testing and retesting things and building upon research that has already been done. It is only when we do this that we can really move forward with confidence that we know something that we can ask further questions. Are we doing that with our faith? I wonder how much time we really spend thinking about all the different ways that we connect with God, or know God and really think about how that influences how we understand God. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

6-8-25 - The Chemistry of Pentecost
6/2/2025
The readings for this week for the Day of Pentecost are Acts 2:1-21, or Genesis 11:1-9, Psalm 104:24-34, 35b, Romans 8:14-17, or Acts 2:1-21, and John 14:8-17, (25-27). This week we look at chemical reactions. We are most familiar with how water is a great solvent and is able to dissolve many things that we run across. Yet, there are reactions that water is a major part of that are able to precipitate something more valuable based on what is in the water. We often like to limit God and we can see that the disciples are trying to do the same thing here and are missing the true power of what the Holy Spirit was about to bring. I honestly think we still miss how amazing the Holy Spirit really is still today. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

Where have you been surprised when you thought you knew the answer to something? #FaithandSciPod

Debugging Our Faith, AI, Bias, and Allowing Transformation
5/26/2025
The readings for this week for the Seventh Sunday of Easter are Acts 16:16-34, Psalm 97, Revelation 22:12-14, 16-17, 20-21, and John 17:20-26. This week we look at Bias. When we are thinking about using and designing AI, this is a topic of discussion and something that has to be considered. This is something that we as humans can struggle with and be blind to. Yet, in our faith we are called to be aware of it and try to figure out ways around it and draw closer to God with everyone, not just the ones that we would like there. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

5-25-25 - Tuned to Thrive: Preparing to Listen for the Advocate
5/19/2025
The readings for this week for the Sixth Sunday of Easter are Acts 16:9-15, Psalm 67, Revelation 21:10, 22-22:5, John 14:23-29 or John 5:1-9. This week we look at Coral Reefs and how scientists have been working with music to help restore the reefs. This shows yet again how we need to listen and hear the voice of God to be able to be in the places that God wants us. When we do this the chance of growth seems to increase. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
